I press your buttons often enough, don't you think?

Just to make my post relevant, I'm excited about the Tier 9 Quivers! And am disappointed regular ones won't make it into Issue 24.
  2. We'll pummel some coralax and smash some tentacles in your honor, Doc!
  3. YES!

(Looking for the "Like" button .. where the heck is it?)
  4. But there's evidence! The Youtube link! Don't be poppin' my bubble all over me.

MOON ZONE!!!! WOOOT!!!! Come on, National Socialists on the moon! It's a story as old as ... uh ... well, 70 years or so.

I recommend watching more Doctor Who, especially series 5 and up. That should explain things.
  7. I do look forward to new Incarnate slots

I'd like to see the following:

    1) Another "Global" slot like Alpha, and I'm hoping that's what Omega turns out to be. I'd like it if Omega was unlocked by Shards and Notices, like Alpha is as well.

    2) I'd like to see a slot that modifies the parameters of Incarnate powers, "trees" that would add damage, recharge, end reduction, accuracy, range, mez duration and etc. This would be neat because you wouldn't have to worry about where on your tray you were going to put it.

    3) I'd like to see some passive Incarnate powers. A passive "aura" with trees that have various damage, control, or debuff abilities. Although this would be "passive" it needn't be on all the time, maybe it activates like the "Only in Combat auras" do ... i.e., starts up when you enter combat, and shuts down shortly after you're done fighting.

    4) A true, unique "Signature Power". I'm not sure how they would implement this, but I'd like to be able to use the costume creator, choose from a variety of alternate animations, choose what type of special effect it has (electric, darkness, fire, energy, etc.) what effect it has (damage, debuff, control, etc.). The "numbers" might be predetermined from a template (all of them would have the same cast time, same range, etc) OR they might be customizable too, and lessen or increase the effect of the power.

    5) An Incarnate Side Kick slot! Choose a side kick from one of the ATs in the game and choose the power sets. The powers from the sets might be predetermined, or they might be chosen by the hero. Pool Powers, maybe or maybe not. Personalize the Side Kick in the character creator! The hero would be responsible for the side kicks welfare. If defeated, the hero would need to go to a hospital to sign the defeated side kick out and pay his medical fees (influence).
  8. This is a great idea and would be useful to specialty builds outside the melee ATs.
  9. Katie? What about the forgotten Penny, poor little Penny Preston?

Also, it's one of the last places in the game where you can see Statesman still. Just look at that shirt!

I'd like to see more of the Outcasts than is revealed in the Hollows arcs. One of my "Mains" has his origins there.
  11. I assume by "Hunter" you mean "Hunter of the supernatural" kind of thing?

I'm a great fan of both Martial Arts and Street Justice. Though Street Justice is the newer and shinier set, Martial Arts is still nothing to scoff at. A successful strike with Eagle Claw boosts the chance for your next critical hit ... I usually follow with Dragon Tail. You should choose the set that best defines your hero since you're trying to represent him as best you can.

Until the rumored changes to the Fighting Pool come along (mentioned as being a sort-of "Street Justice Light" if you take all three of the modified pool's attacks). At this time, only Melee ATs have access to Martial Arts so that limits you to a Melee AT, really.

That leaves Scrapper, Tanker, or Stalker on the table. (Brutes will hopefully get the Martial Arts set soon!) Of the three types, which suits your concept? Tankers will be really tough and deal moderate damage, Scrappers will have moderate survivability (and better with IOs) and deal tons of damage, Stalkers have prowling and skulking and deal tons of damage but are "paper tigers" and fall to damage fast.

Remember that you have Ancillary Pools available at level 35 to help fill out your concept. Darkness power pool might be nice, or maybe weapons.

When (as has been rumored) other power pools make their appearance, you can use them as to tailor your concept as well.

As for Secondaries, choose one that goes with concept as well. Dark Armor? It has some powers that might go along with a "Hunter", especially a fear aura which, admittedly, needs some slotting to be effective.

Will Power or Regeneration might be nice too ... but they lack "tricks".

I'd love to see a "Sword and Martial Art" Assault set, or a "Sword and Gun" Assault set. Then he could be a Dominator, Darkness Control/Sword and Martial Arts.

With the speed this game is evolving, in six months you'll have a completely different idea on how to build him, so be prepared to make alternate versions!
  12. My hunch is Battalion will be level 54 with varying level shifts (+0 through +4,+5,+6,+7,+8 ...) to challenge us with any other level shifts we get in the future.
  13. The first logical thing that comes to mind is to keep down the amount of people renaming characters so it doesn't tax the system.

I'd have to think harder to come up with a better reason than that.

    I24 hopes?

I'm hoping to see an update to "Tab to Next Enemy" where you can set a RANGE.

Then this game would be as perfect as it can be.
  15. Thanks for sharing that! Had a good laugh.

Both my daughters play using my account (9 yo and 12 yo), they have their own servers for the most part. I'm a mean daddy and force them into hiding (Using "Hide" - I hide them from everything).

Sometimes when I play after they have, my "Tell" chat channel is hidden on the next character I play (who is unhidden from everything - it's been a bug for a long while now). It gets me in trouble with the friends I play with, "Are you trying to hide from me?" Heh heh.

I have to "Hide" and then "Unhide" to knock the Tell channel out of hidden mode.
  16. In all fairness, the ad says that the Panther Stealth Power turns you invisible. Normally a stealth power has a description "Only up close will enemies see you", this doesn't have that description.
  17. Because the amount of work required by me to support all of my pets isn't worth the outcome. I can run a Melee AT or a Dominator or Controller and do far better.

I have one level 50 Mastermind, a Robotics/Force Field. It was agony leveling him, so boring and too much stress. He only has his Alpha slot so I don't have any real experience with an Incarnate Mastermind. Frankly, I don't want the stress of doing it.

I have a level 28 Necromancy/Dark Miasma Mastermind that I just can't get back to because the pets are so frail. The play style is so very different from what I like. At the difficulty setting I like to run I just can't get them moving properly.

Playing a Mastermind is like taking care of pre-school kids hopped up on sugar and Power Rangers that want to run out in traffic.
  18. They've built up Praetorian Hamidon's threat, it would seem a waste to not revisit him.

I like your idea of a Level 35+ Devouring Earth zone complete with special contacts, like the Rikti War Zone. Include Hamidon as an iTrial or a Task Force, or task force-like series of missions that are soloable (like Faultline's or RWZ's last arc) or both! Toss in a zone event of some kind and a contact that grants repeatable missions.

One zone could put the cap on the Praetoria story too, and give a sense of closure. Then we could move forward with Battalion.

I think the idea is to come up with a new trial!
  20. Status Proctection click-powers like Practiced Brawler, Hasten, Destiny Powers like Clarion, Rage, Boost Range.

The roots of CoH can be directly traced back to the Champions/HERO system PnP games. Champions Online was in effect Cryptic's SECOND attempt to adapt the PnP game to the MMO setting (CoH was its first attempt).

Frankly anyone trying to use a non-HERO based PnP system seems like a "weird twist" to me.
    Haha ... well, I agree.

But it's ... ironic perhaps? ... that CoH would use the very same system for their hypothetical RPG that their direct (not really threatening) competitor also uses for their real-life RPG. Guess that's what I'm trying to say.

Is that a weird twist? My brain is telling me it is, but my brain also tells me that the 80s were the best decade ever.

You do realize that the original premise of this game (like 10+ years ago when they were first designing it) was to effectively come up with a MMO version of Champions. In fact the beta versions of City of Heroes offered a much more free-form power system (along the lines of what HERO/Champions will give you) but after trying to make it work the game evolved to the AT/Powerset form it uses today.

Yes it is somewhat ironic that Champions Online didn't launch until years after City of Heroes did. But at the core of both of these games was the desire to make the HERO/Champions PnP game system work as functional MMOs.
I played Champions RPG when it was still mail order, way back when it was first introduced in 1981! Sad, really. It's still a great game today.

Why is it a weird twist? Because Cryptic purchased the entirety of the Hero System. They own it. Cryptic also owns a (not as successful as CoH) competitor MMO based on that Role Playing Game. Hence the weird twist.
  23. I know it's a weird twist, but I'd use the Hero System rules - the one that the RPG Champions uses. It's a great system and very flexible, especially if you like rolling 2.7 tons of six-sided dice for damage.

    EDIT:
Heh, looks like someone else agrees!
  24. I've played for 7 years and 9 months. I never realized there was actually a way to stop playing City of Heroes! Yeah, it's under "Menu" and down the list to "Quit". I know right?

Now I have to get up from my own amassed filth and find the life I've lost.

But I'll be back on tonight, though.
  25. If that's what Rikti females are actually using for IUDs, I don't think I ever want to meet a Rikti female - even on an Incarnate trial with 24 other +3 Incarnates.
