  1. I've played COH since the beta test, but I'm a nOOb when it comes to PVP.

Are /poison controllers the FOTM for PVP? If so, I might make a PVP build for my plant/poison controller. I'd like to try getting the PVP IOs the honest way (and not just buying them).
  2. Certainly a solid, fun build. Plant/Storm is just awesome and I really have to make one someday. I'm leveling a plant/poison right now.

You might consider replacing the Performance shifter End/acc with the PerfShifter proc. Getting 10 points of endurance every 10 seconds or so (ballpark - I don't know the exact number) will greatly help with recovery and still get you the set bonus.

I agree Gavin about the gravitational anchor. CC in particular really makes good use of procs as they can tick off several times within it's duration. I'm aiming for 3 procs and 3 dam/rech (with global accuracy covered).

I've always liked the concept of having good ranged defense and hurricane slotted up as well.
  3. Rajani, budget isn't really too much of an issue. I basically go conservative as possible. However, if there was an upgrade to the next best item that was well worth the money, I'd take it.

Hyperstrike, thanks for the link. I'll give it a try shortly.
  4. Last time I needed a new computer, I posted on the forums asking what people thought was the best value out there for a laptop that can play COH. I got great advice back then and I'm hoping to do so again.

So I'm looking to get a new computer as my current one has just been bugy. COH is pretty much the most demanding thing I use my computer for. Although I do use it for other entertainment things like music, DVDs and Netflix - each of these less demanding than COH.

So, if you had to build a new PC that was primarily for COH (with ultra mode), which laptop would you get?

Just FYI: for COH ultra mode:

    Windows 7
Intel or AMD Dual core processor or higher
    4GB Ram+
NVIDIA GeForce *+ or ATI Radion HD 2000+

    Any suggestions?

Hmm, you might be right. I've tried it and it *seemed* that I had extra vines coming out. But seeing as the pet is invisible, I suppose I haven't conclusively seen two creepers around.

I know that the pet can make ripples in the water, I might cast the two of them there and see if I can see two of them or if one disappears.

Pity, I liked the idea of having the two of them out.
  6. Well, firstly I'd completely disregard any comments about how weak DP might be on whatever. Sounds to me you want a concept toon - so keep to the concept.

If you want something simpler, then blaster sounds like the way to go. Defender would indeed require her to be more attentive to the status of her teammates. Blasters just shoot and watch out for themselves. Let the other defender worry about them.

DP/Devices or DP/traps seem like a good fit. DP/traps would also be the exception to the defender/corruptor comment I made below as /traps don't really have to worry too much about their companions.
  7. This thread is now 47 pages?!?!?!?!? How did this happen?
  8. Before dual blades came out, NCSoft had a survey asking people what melee sets they'd like to see. Dual blades won over psionic mele (or similar that was offered).
  9. I've been on more than one all-VEAT team. With all the stacked +def and +dmg, you can pretty much just rip through any mission.

I've also been on fire/kin superteams - likewise upstoppable.

Now for fun, I just joined the plants superteam. I'm looking forward to seeing 8 sets of carrion creepers (or more with Burnout).
  10. Great build! Soft Capped S/L defense to boot!

Mag 8 KB protection seems like a lot though. Get knocked around often?
  11. I love this build concept.

    I have plant/poison with a similar purpose.

For my tastes, I've incorporated a couple differences into carrion creepers (I have it slotted for dam/rech with only 3 procs) and I have anchille's heel -res proc in flytrap in place of a damage proc. In both cases I figured I'd be doing more damage and have the CCs out more often.

I've also been talking up the virtues of Burnout from the speed pool. Having 2 creepers out is something fun to see.
  12. One person mentioned that you can improve your recharge so that you can have multiple triage beacons out at the same time.

I do something similar with Spirit Tree on my plant/poison controller. That is, on tough fights use Burnout (new to speed pool).

I think Pancea proc might be a bit wasted on spirit tree or the like. By the time you can afford it in your 50s, most have endurance issues under control. Perhaps something with only +regen? I'd say Numina's proc but I being unique I really prefer that in Health.

I'm certainly enjoying my beam rifle / time manipulation corruptor, although it does have a *somewhat* tragic flaw:

Both powersets need to be 'set up', which means you can often do one well, but not the other. For example, beam rifle needs you to apply disintegration, to spread it once or twice, then do your AOEs for damage. Your team would likely have finished with all the critters before you get to this point and you haven't even tried your time manipulation debuffs yet. Similar goes for time manipulation if you're going to apply time crawl, then a debuff - your team will finish before you, or if you're soloing you've taken a few shots by now.

I'm sure this has been discussed on the boards, but I think you might want to consider that if you're putting these two sets together.

I like this idea. If I were to take antidote (to save on some slots), I'd do this. However, right now, I'm skipping on antidote.

There were a couple times in game where my rez was down and I had to revive a team mate with an inspiration. Those were the times that I wished I had antidote to remove that effect, but its certainly been rare.
  15. With regards to the Jav proc... I'll certainly try to put that in. Right now, my character is at level 38 and I can only find the IOs at level 50. I guess people are not PVPing very much prior to level 50.

I currently have Creepers slotted with 3 damage procs (posi blast, trap of the hunter, and explosive strike) and 3 damage/rech IOs franken slotted in. I'm going to take your advice to heart and replace trap and ES accordingly when I get the new IOs. I have plenty of free unslotters that I'll likely use (unless I use one of many vet respecs).

I've also taken the previous poster's advice and improved on my accuracy. My current plan will be to have around 25% global accuracy from set IOs nearing the late game. I think Creepers might have to take that as it's baseline unless I see too many critters avoiding my hits. This hasn't been the case so far even at 38, so I'm good so far.

I think I'll post an improved build in the future as I still have many questions about particular powers (poison trap is still a bit baffling to me), but that might be for the new forum area focussed on build critiques.

Again, thanks for your input. It's appreciated.
  16. Great advice! That's just the type of advice I've been looking for!

I'll be incorporating your suggestions in the iteration of my next build.

    Thanks again!

    Plant Superteam

I saw it for the first time last night (I'm new). I loved the look - very appropriate for Garden State.

I'm gonna try really hard to catch the next superteam meet!
  18. Herein I made what looks to be a fun Plant/Poison Controller. I'm looking for any critiques that might point out some glaring flaws or if there are some changes anyone might suggest to make this more effective, but keeping with how I'd like this build to function.

Basically, I'd like to build a plant/poison controller that has teeth! I'm sure I can make a fire/poison controller that can out damage this combo, but this is more fun.

I love carrion creepers so I wanted to make them perma, with hopefully lots of procs to make it more effective. This character is at level 33 right now and burnout allows me to have two spirit trees and carrion creepers out at the same time for tough battles.

There are many procs in the build. This is to make AOEs that don't cause damage, to make some damage - or to make low damaging powers have a bit more umph.

Although I love the procs, my priority is to build in more damage into this build (control, recharge will come organically). So any advice or critiques would certainly be appreciated.

    ...and here's the build:

    Plant/Poison however isn't very pet-centric.
I've had that done to me a few times. I'd hate for my near-perma creepers (with 3 damage procs in them) be turned against me!

I'd hate to add another toggle to my build though... indeed I was considering of dropping leadership altogether save for assault as the damage gained individually or team wide is often worth it.

The alternative though is to hold the Succubi first, which is often what I do against the CoT.

I was just playing last night and the my anchilles heel proc in envenom was working well. Babbage was taken down by our team really quick as she took multiple spammed applications of Envenom. So it's working well there.

My character is only at level 33 now so I haven't tried poison trap or venomous gas. I'm going to try putting FotGladiator proc in the latter when I can. I'll have to start saving up my INF now!
  21. Are they not proc'ing properly?

I haven't checked if my procs were working... perhaps I should.

    elec/pois!

Damn I'm loving this idea. The sapping possibilities with elec/ and poison trap sound awesome!
  23. Back in the day, powers that undid status effects, like clear mind, were a necessity.

I'm now leveling up a plant/poison controller (and loving it). So far, I'm not taking antidote to protect my team from mezzes. People now a days don't seem to need it as badly as they once did.

Am I completely off base here? Is antidote skippable? Or will somewhere down the line I'm going to get booted off a team because I didn't get this important signature power?
  24. Malakim

    Best confuser

Although not a controller, and it might go against your concept, Fortunatas have great confuse powers too! Indeed they have an ST confuse, an AOE confuse and other mind powers to boot!
  25. A fix of gravity is indeed long overdue.
