Quote:Me either, I couldn't understand why so many seem so adamantly against something I couldn't see anything but postives from. I didn't think being able to reply-only to tells would be useable by RMTers.Wow, I never thought I'd see people be AGAINST something to make it easier for people to like and play the game...
However, I've recently been informed that indeed, RMTers will abuse being able to reply to tells. By sitting around and waiting for someone to try and invite them with one I suppose, still not sure on the specifics...
Honestly though, at this point I'm willing to believe it's a SCR issue. That coding for one-way only replies might not be possible, or at least feasible.
I just want to reach a 'Happy middle-ground' that has enough restrictions to prevent RMT from taking root while still being an enticement to go Premium but doesn't isolate the free players to the detriment of their enjoyment. -
Helpful bunch aren't we.
Personally, I avoid the forums on my off days, choosing to get paid while reading about my favorite hobby.
I fell in love with my Beam/Kin Corr so much that I had to roll more. So I ended up rolling a Beam/Rad Corr and a Beam/Dark Blaster.
Got them all to level 12 thanks to the DfB and it soon became apparent that, even though I loved the /Kin, The Beam/Rad Corr was the way to go!
Beam/Dark on Blasters.... Not so much.
I'm a blapper mainly, so it wasn't the melee that bugged me, I just didn't feel like my secondary was all that useful for mitigation. Which is crucial for Blasters. Plus, the added damage made Disintegrate harder to spread. So I deleted and stuck with the Corr. -
Yeah, I've taken 6 month breaks here and there. Only RMT I recall was how annoying it was to delete the 30+ emails a day. I never received any via tells, I must've came back after they nipped that and forced them to adapt to email. (Was so thankful when email restrictions restored the peace.)

Quote:I don't get why you're so worked up over this but thanks for finally giving me a straight answer. That is, after all, all I was looking for.Yes RMT would abuse a respond back to tells feature because they've done so in the past before the chat restrictions were in place.
They would pose as looking for teams and spam people that sent them tells.
They would join teams and and spam their advertisements.
They joined SG's and spam them some more, as well as try to raid their storage.
They joined global channels and spammed them, which in turn caused many of the global channels to silence all new members or switch to private so no one could join without an invitation. -
Anything that stays stagnant and doesn't evolve with the times is doomed to failure. This game never would've lasted this long had it not grown to be more than what it was at launch.
Be glad that the Dev's are smart enough to know when to adopt something and when not to. If they'd tried this in 2007 we wouldn't be here talking right now. The market wasn't ready at that point and neither were we.
Changing to this model is more than just about greed. While true NCSoft most likely did this in order to gain more profit, they also did it to ensure our beloved game remains profitable for at least another few years. -
Thanks as always VK!
CoH UStreams, always seem to be a fun enviroment. -
I've never bothered with Power Boost before but I'm currently levelling up a Sonic/Energy Blaster (finally giving sonic a go) and am curious if PB works well with any particular power/s in Sonic. Kinda surprised to see it only lasts a few seconds though, I always figured it'd be at least as long as aim.

Probably going to take a bit before the SO builds start being needed enough for most to know how to answer you. Everyone has gotten so used to optimizing builds all these years after all.

I've seen a few advertising for 'Classic sewers team forming' but the rest generally all say sewer team lfm when meaning the DfB.
-
I'd be interested. Though my bar brawling biker is good with Street Justice.

Indeed!
Got a rather large group around that corner? Summon your combat pet in the middle of them and wait for the distraction!
I think you can shield them though, I'm pretty sure I saw a power drone caked in Ice the other day.
Also, I recently read in the KB thread that someone puts Repulsion Bomb on theirs and lets it work it's magic. -
I usually avoid reposting my own posts but I feel taking the copy-pasty approach here is going to be needed, this won't be the last thread like this I'm afraid...
So, your're upset ViP's pay for powers?
When I 1st realzied they'd be charging for Powersets I felt this way as well. But then I realized the truth.
ViP accounts are exactly as they used to be when you think about it.
from 2005 to present, spending $15 a month got you everything except boosters. This included 1 or 2, sometimes 3 brand new powersets a year.
Freedom already brought us Time Manip for free and the Dev's are on record saying they will still be giving ViP's free sets.
So in essence, as a ViP, you've already gotten this years free new set.
What charging for new sets allows, is the creation of even more sets. If they weren't generating revenue specifically from them, they wouldn't be able to justify the time/expense to create them.
So Street Justice, Beam Rifle, Titan, Staff et al would not even exist if they weren't charging for them.
You can look at it that way, imagine any new set in the store doesn't exist and at the end of the year, you'll still be able to say you got X and X set for free, plus you'd be banking a ton of points.
ViP's are getting more any way you look at it. Not only are we getting the usual allotment of free stuff, now we have the option to get even more!
I'll gladly pay $10 for a new set if it means the set gets made to begin with. If paying for Street Justice means 3 additional sets will be made thats outstanding!
It's all in how you look at it. I went from being upset and feeling like my loyalty wasn't being honored, to actually realizing what was up and being thankful, almost overnight. -
If you don't think that quoted post from Z was blanket market speak covering chat 'as a whole' I have nothing further to say on the issue except;
I don't see how your overlooking this simple concept, I'm not 'dead set' on anything. Just pointing out how silly it is for posters to hide behind the RMT excuse when it obviously doesn't apply.
I also don't see how asking the community to use common sense when defending their particular position is something you wouldn't want... -
Quote:I didn't realize my confusion came off as being stubborn, how's wanting to have the concept I'm missing pointed out to me 'being stubborn'? *Shrugs*You can sit there and be stubborn all you want, but the devs have made their decision and have flat out told us the restrictions are in place because of RMT spam.
Shooting down the suggestions with SCR or even with 'The Dev's said' is fine with me, shooting it down with 'It'll let RMTer's run wild' makes no sense to me, and I wanted to know if it did to others.
It's entirely possible they just can't code it for one-way communication.
The inspiration issue on the other hand...
Hey, either way, I feel Freedom has been an overwhelming success! -

Yes! For some reason, I was expecting it to be Galaxy City in ruins, not a cramped city street. I wouldn't expect the whole zone but atleast some feeling of breathing room would be good.
I don't know how they'd do this other than having a glowy to click that activates it, but hey theres a thought! It'd be immersive while teaching about clickies with the added benefit of giving the player control again. -
Quote:The confusion seems to be because I never did a transfer until Issue 21, so I had no prior knowledge of it being anyway other than what I experienced. Going with what I expected to be a helpful answer, ended up providing me with more info as well. It seems because I was careful to make sure the name was open, the 1 minute or so it took to transfer wasn't long enough for the temp hold from 'reserving' the name to wear off. Giving me the prompt. Probably a new feature of the updated name reserve. Are you sure? It didn't work that way when I transferred a toon. (This was prior to Issue 21.) I transferred a character with a deliberately unusual name and it was available on the destination server. No rename token, no change to the name.
It's just the way I interpret the wording. I only speak when I'm sure I know about something, ergo saying I'm wrong is tantamount to saying I don't know what I'm talking about or in other words, I'm just making stuff up.
It's a personal idiosyncrasy of mine I suppose, it's obvious she wasn't attacking me, and I didn't feel like it was an 'argument', just wanting to be clear that I don't post made up information and asking for clarification, since I respect Agge's reputation on the forums.
I should've read it as mistaken but alas... -
Now I'm wondering if tinting the dark blasts would make the skull look like a flaming pumpkin...
I would say, regardless of your secondary, Dark should be tolerable for a Werewolf and Frankenstein.
You could limit the Wolf to only using Smite and Maul, AS, maybe boxing etc.
You could limit the Vampire to only being able to use the blasts after a successful
'Feeding' via Siphon life.
Frank could be the combined pieces of monsters, giving him powers or he could just be slow and prodding and only use a few regular attacks and temps like the sledgehammer(Gabriels) and bat and such.
Then again, you could just mention the magical talisman he wears that imbues all forms with magical offensive abilities. -
Quote:The Starburst glow or the Fiery one, tinted gold/light yellow, makes for a great SSJ aura.I'm just wondering if anyone think with some tweaks to the toggles and an added aura could make it fit better or should I reroll the toon with a different secondary? If you think a different secondary would be better what would it be? Thanks!
I really wish we could combine auras. Picking the lightning body aura tinted light blue with the firey aura gold would make the perfect SSJ2.
When the Winter event rolls around again, make sure to get the Halo for bonus points. ;p -
I never really aprreciated the impact Steve Jobs had on society until I watched the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. No matter how you feel about Apple, the fact is he changed the world.
Then came back to revolutionize music.
He may not have been the inventor himself but he did something better, he made it accessible and desireable to the masses. He had a knack for seeing how to mold complicated to use devices into stylish and simple pieces of art.
I agree with Devious, Rest in Style Mr. Jobs, and thank you.
