LF "sewer team" = old Sewer Network in Atlas, right?

I see a lot of people /broadcasting in Atlas Park that they are looking for a "sewer team". Are they talking about the old Sewer Network? Hasn't that been made largely obsolete by the new Death From Below underground sewer trial?

I'd assume they mean DFB, but a few probably don't know about it and are old timers actually thinking the sewers are still cool. Best to ask if you're not sure, you might help someone out.

I've seen a few advertising for 'Classic sewers team forming' but the rest generally all say sewer team lfm when meaning the DfB.

I'm betting they are referring to Death From Below. I know when I say it that is what I mean. I'm pretty sure many people don't know about the LFG tab, because for three days now I've entered the queue for over 30 minutes and never got into a Trial.

You've broadcasted for people to join the queue, right? Because that's the only way people learn to use something, is that someone tells them to do it that way.

I have this macro (/macro DfB "text here") on every character I plan to play DfB with:

/b Queuing up for DfB...lots of fun, lots of XP, lots of baddies, some badges and SOs...come join me! Click "LFG" on your chat window, select "Death from Below", and click "Queue!"

I have hit the LFG to enter the queue many times. I once sat there for about 2 hours without getting into a group for the trial. I did this while watching about 12 different sewer runs come and go.

I know I could have exited the queue and joined one of those groups, but I wanted to see if the LFG queue was even working, and as far as I could tell, it was not.

So then I asked my friend to make a group and make sure that he allowed in-progress joining and that the group was listed as "open" and he sat there for about 45 minutes without anyone joining the group. So we asked a few other friends to hit the LFG tab and try to enter the queue, and after 30 more minutes we gave up, none of us could get into a group with the LFG queue, no one could get others to join our group by making an open group in the LFG tab.

The only way I can see to get into a sewer trial is to just join a group and then when you have all the people that you want, hit the queue. At least that works.

I once told a DFB team that I was going to drop the team and enter via the queue, because I didn't want to have to run all the way to the zone they were in.

The leader replied, "You can do that?"

Yup, you can. I did, and it worked. So at least 5 other folks on Champion learned that day that's how the DFB really works.

I've joined sewer trial teams about six times or so now just by clicking the LFG and joining the queue. The longest it's taken me is a few minutes. But this is on Virtue during peak play hours.

This is the only way I have ever run it. Longest wait has been about three minutes, shortest was instant-start.

Oh yeah on Freem/Virtue it's easy all the time (hell I logged at 6am today on Freedom because I woke up before planned just to check the market, there was a costume contest and I still won 125 mil for second prize lol - I am EST+1 so it was about 4-6 am for lots of Americans).

But try that on Champion, Justice, etc. I've been playing quite a bit on Champs, and no real difficulty on forming DFB but I REALLY have to assemble a team, I've been in queue on peak hours while I was doing stuffs (marketing, chatting in channels), and 15-20 minutes later nothing.

Okay, so then it really is just a case of folks not knowing about the LFG trial queueing mechanism. Maybe the tutorial should start by forcing players to (symbolically) queue themselves up for it first so that they know what the dang thing is!

I'm on Virtue and I've queued myself up for DFB many, many times and rarely have I had to wait more than a few minutes to get added to a team. It is far more efficient than trying to form a team before-hand (though the ability to queue up as a team is great). I was just sort of puzzled why people were spending so much time using the old /broadcast mechanism to do something that the LFG window does much more efficiently.

And I didn't want to engage in Yet Another "Use the LFG Window" exchange when there was every possibility they were forming for the old Sewer Network. At this point I think that 90% of all chat bandwidth in Atlas Park these days involves "sewer teams" and the means to form them.

How do you enter DFB without using the LFG queue? I didn't know there was any other way! (I guess I'm an ignoramus in the opposite direction)

I mean, if everyone who was interested in doing the DFB trial simply used the LFG, then forming teams ad-hoc would be utterly unnecessary since you'd already have everyone who would otherwise form a team the old way already registering themselves more directly.

In fact, I'm thinking that this queueing mechanism might be a great way to implement team-forming for everything, not just trials. A team leader wishing to form a team could simply create a new Team Forming entry in the queue, perhaps with a tag that indicates the kind of missions to be run (standard, radio, tips, AE, farm, TF, trial, etc.) and optional level ranges. Then people could try to join these teams sort of like they were trials to queue up for. There could even be an option for the team leader where s/he is notified each time someone tries to join--providing name, AT, and level--and they have the opportunity to accept or reject that player (again, this would just be an option and not necessarily the default).

This would possibly solve the problem of F2P players not being able to use /tell to indicate interest in a team forming (via the old school /broadcast method).

That's okay, I did like 50 iTrials before learning how to form one, it's the same thing but a bit simpler since it's only 8 people.

1) Form a team like any other (minimum 4 to do the trial)

2) Go to the LFG tab and select 'Death From Below' and press Queue. Now if you have less than 8 people, it might wait for more, which can be a bad thing if nodoby else is looking/queued (I did try that on Champion, making 6-ppl teams and waiting to see if two were queued, over ten mins and nothing).

3) So if you have a 4-7 people team and want to start immediately, just click the 'Lock this event for your group' button and then click on 'Queue'. As long as you have 4, it will start immediately. So technically you use the Queue but only to start the thing since you locked it and there will be no delay or waiting unless someone on the team goes afk and forgets to press 'enter' (after some time he will be kicked automatically)

Another interesting thing, if you have a 4-ppl team and another team with 2-4 wants to join you, you can click on the leader and 'invite to league' - there will be two separate teams listed, just right click on the other team's members and select 'add to your team', after you have one team you select 'lock the event' and press queue - this way you don't need to tell them to disband and reinvite everyone. I'm not sure what happens if you make a league with 16 people and start it, maybe two separate trials since max is 8.

THey are referring to, I think, the fact that most people don't know you don't need to enter the queue in a team. That if you just enter it solo, it can form a team for you.

You have to split league to start it
We have tried, hopping it would work same as TF (every team do separate TF, but we stay in league for chat), but unfortunately we couldn't enter queue until we had split into 2 teams.

Ummm same applies for the incarnate trials.. If you join a league you HAVE to be in the same zone as the leader for the trial to begin. If you enter the Queue you can be just about anywhere, SG bases and inside a mission being exceptions, and will be automatically teleported into the trial. lol I have done both since DFB began.. joined teams forming in Atlas park or just hit the LFG and let the game find me a team..

One small draw back. Not sure if the guy was trying to solo the trial or everyone else had just given up on beating the Hydra. I said i was willing to join a trial in progress and discovered all the villain groups were defeated and 1 guy was in the final chamber trying to beat 2 hydra heads.. I quit and left him to his pursuit.. or insanity LOL whichever applies!
