Quote:Or it could be that folks are asking for the point in the middle where the players are the equals of the NPCs. Why does either side of the story need to be a chump? Especially when they're ON THE SAME SIDE! The players have asked to be brought up to the same level as the NPCs were presented, not to have the NPCs brought down to the players.Just no pleasing some people...
"Stop making me a lackey!"
"... I'm being praised? DAMN YOU, DEVS! YOU SUCK! MAKE ME LICK THEIR BOOTS!"
Really now, make up your minds now. Would you be happy with getting Arbiter Daos his laundry, or giving Positron your lunch money? Because that seems to be your idea now. -
I'm going to stay out of the fight for clean versions of this set, but I'm just happy to have ANY dirty clothes in the costume creator AT ALL. Even the torn/shredded costume bits look like they just came out of Icon looking like that.
I may not use the Hockey Mask, or the new mohawk, but I can definitely see making a down-on-his-luck Hero, who can't catch a break. -
Quote:Simple answer. I want to also play the missions that AREN'T in Ouroboros.I just started doing some arcs from Oro that were needed for accolades. They have the low level arcs in a cleaned up version - no being sent to Hollows to talk to a guy, no random missions that are not part of the arc.
For those interested in the story arcs, leveling to get to Oro and then just doing the arcs through there seems much better than trying to get the right contacts, sort through the garbage missions, etc.
Do people use Oro for their content or still do it the old fashioned way? -

Quote:I will say that I see a lot of this in the new SSA for Villains. You get a prologue which acts like a Tip mission where you follow up on leads you hear about and pull someone's can out of an Arachnos fire. At that point, the person basically swears fealty to your character and the arc begins in earnest with "OK, you want to do X well, here's the best ideas I can come up with to work toward X given the information we have thus far."Secondly, this is an arc that's all about ME. Sure, Dean is still the contact and it's still the game system feeding me the mission objectives, but the narrative is presented such that it's MY ambition working towards MY own benefit. Dean is a source of information and a cruncher of information. He's the guy who says "According to what you did and what I know, this is the next logical step." His dialogue is presented as a reasonable course of action, rather than orders. This makes my villain feel independent. I'm not working for someone else, I'm not taking anyone's orders, and when other people do get in my way, I just step on them and keep going. That counts for a lot.

Quote:There's one thing I really like about the red-side version of that fight. You've beaten, subdued and humiliated two arch-villains in front of their own gangs and absorbed said gangs into your organization. They have an opportunity in that scene to walk away from your control if the odds are as stacked against you as they claim. And yet, they are so cowed that they will throw themselves on the pyre just to attempt to save you.Villain side, the NPC allies where useless anyway, barely lasting a few seconds.
Hero side, the NPC allies blasted everything in sight before I could get a look in.
But yeah, Penny...
Though I do wonder how the scene plays out if you have a team going in. Granted, the text is still the same, but the "this isn't fair" takes on a completely different meaning. -
Actually, it's still identical even at the end. Pure blue Heroes still have the option to stab Tielekku. In fact, the only difference I saw was in earning the Buddy Cop badge. Villains have the option of not saving the Detective.

Quote:I do. I usually mail a million or so influence when I make a brand new character for just that reason. Yes, I realize that it's way more than I actually need to afford to do this, but it's usually enough to make influence needs for the new character non-existent for the entire run of the character, even before I use the market. If not for IOs, then please god make SOs attuned. And, while we're at it, get rid of TO and DO enhancements. Serious question, how many people actually use those things anymore?
EDIT: That said, I probably wouldn't complain too much about removing Training and Dual Origin Enhancements, as long as there was something to replace them. And I mean something available in the stores or as drops, without having to gather supplies and craft them. I would not want to have to level to twenty two without having ANYTHING in my powers. -

Quote:Actually, that was something I had said to my self before I was even done reading the first post. However, I'd like to say that this isn't something against Doctor Roswell, someone I don't know from Martian Adam, nor am I willing to say that it's the only reason a thread like this was made. Honestly, The Doc seems to be on the level with his responses thus far, and I wish him luck.Said before the OP actually responds on way or another to more than three posts.
Meanwhile, on the actual topic: The first thing I thought of when I saw the third costume was not Dual Pistols, to be honest. You have the Spade Chest detail, and the Diamonds. If it was me, I'd make it a Mace Tank or Brute, and try to find someone with DJ Zero missions available, and grab the Heart Pattern. Spade, Diamonds, Hearts, and the Club skin for the mace. Sadly, names aren't my strong suit either, so I have no idea what to call him. -

Quote:Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There may be a lot of suggestions, but the thing I'm taking away from this is none of these have been good enough. With the exception of Brainfreeze, which was taken.Even though there are typically "excellent suggestions", a lot of people still choose to refute that. Mainly because the suggestions "don't work for them".
C'est la vie.
My first thought when I saw this thread was "I wonder if anyone's going to get a payout, or is this just going to be used to 'prove' that there are no good names left." -
You know, I'd just love to see just what in the hell they have to fill up TEN DVDS. (Edit: Blu-Rays...whatever)

Quote:I think the big deal is that Ice Slick doesn't do any damage, and Sleet isn't *that* much. However, Bonfire does have a hefty damage component to it, that was balanced by the fact that the enemies weren't in the patch for very long before getting thrown clear. Now they're not, and it's a single power that is, essentially, Ice Slick and Burn combined. (maybe not quite that much damage, I don't know)Ice slick? Sleet?
Why is bonfire so ultra awesome when powers exist already to do the exact same thing. Because you can keep it casting it over and over? Last I checked, my ice dom had no problems at all with perma ice slick effects.
Meanwhile, I love having Hand Clap on my Tank without the new proc. If I'm hip deep in enemies, I often can't move. If there's a squishy that's getting harassed by over flow and they're outside the normal range of taunt, I can fire Hand Clap off to clear a path. I can't do that if the enemies aren't moved out of the way. -
Well, don't forget Imperious in Cimerora, and ancient history version of Statesman.

Yeah, I had the suspicion, when they first planned out the WST for the whole summer that the three Respec Trials were supposed to go up the level scale, and actually sent a PM to the Dev that posted to let them know, but they remained all reading the first trial.

I see a lot of chatter about a hat that some folks think would be appropriate to release this week. Nothing confirmed, though. Might have a big sale, since the local stores usually have big sales for that day.

Quote:Ah. Different collection of ATOs, too. Hrm.Super Pack 2 by the numbers by Arcanaville. It is in the beta section.

OK, I just wanted to ask because it would royally eat to spend the scratch for the recipe, only to find out it was locked.
-
If I use the recipe to craft Excalibur on a character that's not 50 yet, will he be able to use the sword right away, or would I have to get him to 50, first?

In another thread of yours, you asked about the Shadow Shard. That's where the Rularuu come from and where their story is told. Also, if you have a Villain, Wade is a contact that you can run into on your way up that will help explain his role in all this, if only vaguely.
