Emp makes me shake my head in disappointment.
[/ QUOTE ]
My first toon was an empath and I remade her a while back but I hardly play her at all. What ruined empaths was allowing virtually every other powerset combination in the game a self heal and mez protection. -
Just one full team should do...
7 to stand around discussing strategy
1 to just run in and do it -

I always thought the bank robbery began when you got to within a certain distance of the bank - at least that's how it appears to have been from my experience.

The timer has always seemed to start as soon as I've moved away from the mission entrance when I've done one. -
When I place a marker on a map after exiting a mission it's usually because I want to go to that marker. Could the game please not change it every single time another person exits the mission after me? It's soooooo annoying...
-
I do have a bad habit of hitting the send button before really being ready...
I meant to add that it's the person behind the toon that really matters. There are no useless AT's or powersets in the game. Some are more suited for farming and such things than others but I think that for someone relatively new to the game, fun should come before farming - there's plenty of time for that sort of thing later - after you've become hopelessly addicted like the rest of us... -
I'm afraid I don't know enough about the gravity set to be of any use to you. I tried one a few times but couldn't get on with it.
I wouldn't listen too much about what other people say about it being rubbish though, as long as you have fun playing it that's all that really matters. I've seen plenty of gravity controllers around and some mobs use the set as well, they're no pushover. It has some very good single target damage in the early levels, I didn't keep mine going long enough to discover what it had in the way of AoE holds/damage.
Personally I prefer the fire set for controllers, mainly because I like having psychotic imps following me around and I tend to solo a lot on it. The fire set does a good deal of AoE damage.
I'd stick with the gravity set for a while and see how you get on. You can always try something else without deleting that one if you want a change...unless you've already filled up all your slots! -
It's about time this was fixed. We've had this since the year dot. Giving new players the idea that the developers of a game can't even cope with the installation really isn't a great idea.

Sorted - did it the easy way - with a team
Thanks anyway. -
Team with a tank or scrapper and let them take the aggro! Either that or hold/stun them so they can't move. Other than that it's down to old fashioned kiting where you move in close enough to attack then back away until you're ready again. Sometimes you can get out of their perception range and they lose interest. Doesn't always work though, especially if they can move faster than you.
Most things also hate caltrops so if you can drop some of those at their feet you can gain some breathing space.
If you do decide to run away for a breather, remember that they regain health at a remarkable rate! -
Anyone have any advice for a poor frustrated PB built for use mainly in human form trying to take down a Pretorian EB called Maurauder?
On heroic, it spawns as a lvl 51 EB. Getting it down to 10% of its health results in it activating it's god (I win) mode and the two of us stand there flailing ineffectively at each other till my light form times out and I have to run.
It's getting a bit boring and irritating to say the least -
As Chartasis says, you can't slot two identical IO's in the same power. You need to buy different IO's from the same set or use IO's from different sets, or maybe even use some IO's and some normal SO's, however the mood takes you.
There are also some IO's that you can only hsve one of per toon, watch out for those, they have that info in the description. They're usually very expensive and buying two can seriously deplete your resources until you can find someone else to take one of them off your hands... -
Happens to me regularly, just get played out and can't find any reason to log in. When that happens I just go and do something else for a while. I don't bother with other MMO's because I've found they're all pretty much the same under all the glitz and glamour.
I keep a copy of the Elder Scrolls games, open ended single player games for those moments. Just spend a couple of weeks messing with those and pop back on CoX again when I get bored with them.
Or, do some interesting real life things... -
It's not only repeat missions that are a pain in the neck. Finished an arc yesterday in Croatoa, get three mystics to a henge and protect it from attack...for 15 minutes! That may not sound like a great deal of time in the grand scheme of things but it gets very boring very quickly after what seems like 20 ambushes (but probably isn't) with more to come. You get to the stage where you just sit with your head in your hands until the next ambush...please let this be over soon...
-
I simply based it on seeing 3 blue con minions health drop by a sliver when I tp'd into them whereas headsplitter usually one shots them. Anyway, I'll see how it works out when it's slotted properly. Bit like comparing apples and oranges at the moment really.

Just got it yesterday. An interesting power but I can't see it being that great until it's slotted properly - it has virtually no range, a long recharge and hardly any damage in spite of being labelled as 'superior'. I suppose thay call it superior because it does AoE damage. The knockdown looks very useful but damage wise it's nothing to write home about...time will tell on that one.

Say what?
hardly any damage?
Slot it out with 3dmg SOs, run into a group and let AAO stack up, hit build up and shield charge on the spot (it doesn't need range) it will obliterate a spawn.
My shield charge always lands for 400+ dmg unless mobs are resistant. Thats 400 damage to 16 targets, in a 20ft radius...
Last night on ITF with fulcrum shift it kept hitting the poor romans for 600's.
Follow up with a pbaoe power from primary like whirling sword. And you're left to fight the bosses pretty much.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I did say until it's slotted properly. I can't tell at the moment because it only has one slot. I was commenting on the description of 'superior' damage when it clearly isn't in comparison to other BS attacks at the stage my toon has it. -

Not sure what level you are, but it really changes once you pick up shield charge

Interesting. I recently created a BS/Shield scrapper and I can't honestly say I find it rewarding to play at all. It seems to receive almost as much damage as my regen scrapper but has no means of healing. Is there a particular level when shields suddenly start to actually do something?

If anyone dies to the Cyst exploding as it's defeated, it's their own fault for standing next to it like an idiot.

I suppose they are a bit like the altar (that's an altar???) in the Frostie mission. Walking up to it with your defender and giving it a hefty kick is something you only do once...hopefully... -

I moved across to Defiant and rolled 5 Masterminds
[/ QUOTE ]
Must admit when I first saw this thread I wondered what the point of doing this was. It seems quite a lot of work for very little gain. CoX isn't really set up to make this sort of thing easy or even worthwhile - except for farming.
5 masterminds really is overkill in my most humble opinion though, are you really intending to have 30 pets running around? -

For leadership pool i can't say much as i already have it on Psy and loving it. Only thing that annoys me Vengeance on that pool. Yeah it is good and all but if you can fire it before you die(people tend to die in crowded mobs for some reason ) or someone else in your team rez the fallen member (believe me it happens too often).
[/ QUOTE ]
I've noticed that a polite request to 'allow me to blow up your corpse before you rez' isn't always very well received for some strange reason. Maybe I need to think up a less emotive description... -

If you mean the zone ambient noise?, It is way too loud and strangely present in all zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, the only thing I can think of that's present in all zones is the war walls, the noise must be the generators for those... -

Cant really compare a mob with a player
[/ QUOTE ]
True. It's just something that sticks in my mind
Been a long time since I created a new blaster so it's a bit difficult to compare with the others but I'm quite impressed with mine so far - only just into double figures though. A little more accuracy wouldn't go amiss...
Wouldn't surprise me if it did have slightly less damage than some other blasters because it has that inbuilt debuff to compensate. -
I quite like mine, admittedly still low level. It's hits lower resistance as well but it certainly doesn't seem to lack power.
Take a look at the Radio EB/AV over on the red side for a quick lesson on how devastating sonic can be. That damn thing wiped out my MM and all pets without even needing it's volume control turned up... -
Sounds as if it could be fun. My favourite toon is a fire/rad controller, it's about time I had another. Plenty of slots free on Union, not a single one on Defiant. Only awkward day for me would be a Saturday, never know what's going on on Saturdays...

Who knows. If it was someone would probably have complained.
