It's been broad sword for as long as I've played (issue 3). If it was diferent before then I have no idea.
Who knows. If it was someone would probably have complained.
Was known as Broadsword as long back as i can remember (late beta).
I can't see any reason why it would have been as the aformentioned sword was named such because it didn't fall into either the one handed or two handed sword categories. Therefore using it to name a powerset could be considered a foolish idea due to the complaints it would no doubt cause.
Broadsword being a much wider ranging (and safer) option to go for. 
I am also impressed the forums didn't [censor] the word too - was this a genuine question or a test of the forums

No, it was originally called Medievil Weaponry, and was combined with War Mace and Battle Axe.
It's been Broadsword since the game has been live though.

And given how paranoid nc soft are about any words that might insult players i think the ******* (or hand and a half) sword would have caused a real panic attack for the GMs with people petitioning the name

But, about half of all broadswords are used by broads!

The sword itself though, before proliferation, left around the correct amount of hilt space for a hand and halfer. It's a ******* sword, our toons just aren't bothering to use it to its fullest potential. Or even much like a sword actually.
