I think this goes for Mayhem missions, but CoV is so naff/duff that I don't play it... anyway...

It seems to me that people are generally ignorant of the greatness of Safeguard missions due to the lack of in-game advice. Once the boss is down, they think all you do is beat up the vandals for more and more time. That's not the case, so would it be possible to at the very least STOP FLASHING THE BIG RED MARKER on the vandals?

If, instead of saying "Mission Complete" we could perhaps have a change of objective to, say in Talos "Defeat non-vandal Tsoo for Keys", I feel that people would be less inclined to exit or at least be unable to click the exit button.

Mayhem missions work a bit differently. For one you do not have to rush to the bank first to avoid failing the mission. Instead running around defeating PPD groups and smashing the scenery (cars, parking meters, crates...) get you added time to complete the bank job. And during that you run in to the groups that give the keys, and side missions gives added time as well.
That however does not stop most villains from rushing to the bank to complete the job.

I think the problem is that for most the Mayhem/Safeguard missions are just a speed bump on the radio/newspaper mission track. And maybe a way to get a temporary power or a exploration badge.

Maybe if the bank robbery first started when a safeguard mission was out of time?

[/ QUOTE ]I might be missing your point here.... but.... The timer only starts when the bank robbers have been caught.

I personally hate the unseen timer that starts upon entry in the safeguard mission and then goes off, when you have been in the mission for an "x" amount of time, especially when I've been ignoring the bank, and concentrating on defeating the spawned mobs and vandals instead, but then have to leg it to the bank to stop the robbers from escaping.

I always thought the bank robbery began when you got to within a certain distance of the bank - at least that's how it appears to have been from my experience.

The timer has always seemed to start as soon as I've moved away from the mission entrance when I've done one.

it does... however there is an "invisible" timer that starts the second you set foot inside the mission. when this timer runs out the bank robbery starts no matter where you are.

i've been looking in alot of places for info on this and found none... but i'm pretty sure i've never seen any vandals before the bank robber has been arrested. (not even the original I8 release notes could help me)

[/ QUOTE ]Posted that last bit without checking, but in my own mind I'm positive that you can attack vandals prior to saving the bank. Must check this out.

Definitely can attack standard enemies and get the exploration badge, before doing the bank though, 150% certain of that

Making a safeguard harder is a better start- i mean hereos have it easy compared to villains.
