  1. I'd be willing to pay double, but as others have stated, that wouldn't do much for attracting new players. And if there is any problem with the game, it is just that... not enough returning and new players. I think with F2P they were really hoping for a big spike in terms of people either returning or signing up for the first time.

Sadly, they did a pretty poor job of marketing the game.

They were also focusing new story arc content for higher level characters, and gutted the beginning/lowest level missions. I still continued to make new characters, but that was one of the things I really enjoyed about the game. What I didn't enjoy was that starting out in Atlas Park once F2P launched only gave one mission arc to go thru... so I stuck to street sweeping, then DFB missions to get the needed xp to get the hell out of Atlas Park and on to some decent variety of missions in Kings Row and The Hollows.

Most new players starting new characters weren't going to be happy with the lack of mission choices at the beginning of the game, and DFB probably wouldn't do it for them either. What captured me early on was that characters with different origins got different starting missions.

Actually, according to what I just read on their website, character customization WILL be a feature... using bits and pieces from existing characters, granted, but it's a start.

I will probably give MH a shot... unless CoH gets a last minute rescue...
  3. I'm a Supers only kinda guy when it comes to MMOs. I tried some fantasy... just didn't do it for me.

Champions online looks like it was drawn by a 10 year old. A gifted 10 year old, but still.

DCUO looks slick, but the costume creator is so limited, and the game engine so non-intuitive that it lost me.

    Marvels new one?

Have to wait and see. I'll probably give it a whirl, unless lightning strikes and some how CoH get saved.

That's a bit much... but I would go for the $19.99. Maybe even $24.99.
  5. One of the theories I've seen floated is the loss of sales in CoH, which then links to NCSoft financial records. Well, here's a look at their sales since 2010:

Yes, CoH sales have dropped, but nothing compared to Aion. Any news of them axing Aion? Anybody? Bueller?

I will probably schedule another filming night to give more people the chance to participate.

More notice would be good. Justice didn't have much of a turn out.
  7. I will be half there. Check for Willowbright on Justice. She's my highest level toon at 30.

Why do I say half there? Because at that time I will be starting up my regular Monday Night trivia and DJing session as DJ_Timelord_Tom @ the Temporal Museum on Utherverse/Red Light District (18+ only) until 11PM ET.

Any one who would care to stop by that party afterwards please feel free (again, must be 18+... if you know Utherverse/Red Light Distric, you know why... if not, just do a google.) There is a special topic this evening (one of five) which any CoH player should have an easy time with.

When the show is done, I will probably be heading back to CoH to play an hour or so before going to bed.

    Sign it

I've already signed it, but checked to see where we're at. 9746 and counting.

If we can get everyone to sign that we can, it can't hurt. Will it help? *shrugs shoulders*

    We'll see...

My thoughts exactly. There is Champions Online, but that game is so poorly done it isn't even funny.

  11. Chances? Probably slim to none... mentioned, asked for, begged for by everyone.
  12. $20-$50 if the stand alone, off line character creator. If they made it so that we could create new costume pieces ourselves? I'd pay up to $75-$100 provided there was a way to share costume files.
  13. Yep... I'd even PAY for it. (One time payment, please.)

    The "Why"

You know what... I've seen two theories bouncing around in the forums: NCSoft license of the game engine is ending and they aren't/can't renew, or that CoH has started losing money for them.

What I haven't seen it the possibly law suits for copyright infringement could be the cause.

Who hasn't been guilty of stealing the look of a copyrighted character? I know I have a few, but changed the names enough that it shouldn't matter. They were tributes to the comicbook characters, not attempts to recreate them.

But in my just under 2 years of playing, I've seen several Hulks - each with the Hulk name included in the name, one She-Hulk with just a number after it to make it different, several Captain America clones - the only name of which I recall was something like "Rogers Agent of Sheild", a few Batmans, a couple of Supermans, etc.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter WHY the game is being unplugged... that was bound to happen eventually anyway.

But that doesn't mean we don't deserve to be told.
  15. That totally sucks. Vent away.

Hopefully they do change things so that everyone that has had an active account get VIP access until the final day when they shut down the servers... we'll see.
  16. When CoH started, I didn't have a computer that could handle it... in fact only got one that could a couple of years ago.

I'm caught between crying and out right rage... this is like being told your best friend is on life support with no chance of ever recovering.
  17. Nope... in the announcement they included a declaration that they are no longer accepting subscription payments, new or existing.

Hopefully they will just allow everyone currently with an account to play as VIP for the last few months, but no guaranties of that happening.
  18. I have over 50 characters... all of them, heroes and villains alike, will unite to storm NCSoft offices demanding the reason why...

    Sign it

Signed and posted elsewhere... if it is a licensing issue, nothing can be done.

Somehow I'm now really glad I didn't spend any money on buying more points for Nature's Affinity.
  20. If another company designs it, it won't be CoH2... that doesn't mean that NCSoft doesn't have another Supers MMO in the works, but only time will tell that story.

    For now, sign the petition:

    Dear NCSoft...

Not that it will do any good:

    http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes

As others have stated, I won't be playing any of your other games... not because of you shutting down CoH, but because I really have only enjoyed playing CoH because it is (soon to be was) the best Super Hero MMO going.

That also does not mean I will go and run off and sign up on one of the other Super Hero MMOs that are out there, as I have already given them a try and found them lacking.

Now, should ANYONE develop a new Super MMO, I will give them a shot...

NCSoft? Do YOU have such a game in the works, and is that why CoH is being given a slow death?
  22. I tried Champions Online when I first started playing CoH... didn't like it. I've messed around a bit with DC Online... like the smoother graphics, but over all it sucks.

As a gamer who uses pictures of my CoH characters for my Champions pen n paper games, it would be nice if they made it so that we could at least keep the software in such a way as to be able to design costumes... doubt very much that will happen.

Someone better come out with a decent Super Hero MMO that I can deal with, or I'm going to be cranky for the rest of my life.
  23. OK... and when do we get around to playing all these characters?

It's not that I don't have a lot, and I'm one who does use multiple servers. But I was looking at some of my characters the other day and thinking "am I ever going to play this one/that one ever again?"

If the answer is no, delete is an option, and then, presto, you have an open character slot.
  24. I was playing when they made the announcement in world. Server maintenance is what they said, I believe. (Can't be entirely sure at this point as I'm home from work, sick, and the ol' brain box ain't work as well as normal.)

You should try the options to stop earning XP, and take the INF boast instead. (I tend to do this for characters who's enhancements are about to drop off.)
