Some friends and I tried this, though it was usually less an actual D&D campaign and more playing CoH as if it were a fantasy MMO by playing only fantasy-themed MA arcs, and RPing appropriately. We did do a couple of our own self-created arcs, and even had a D&D-style tavern made in an SG base. It was very fun, though we haven't done it for awhile.
As for dragons... I dunno, closest I could see maybe is Devouring Earth Devoured, the DE bosses with the tentacle face. I think there may be one or two named ones that are bigger than normal, but I'm unsure if they're available in AE.
You could also use the crystal titan from the Eden trial, if it's available. Not a dragon, but a huge crystal monster sounds pretty D&D to me.
Could also consider using Rularuu(again, if available. Sorry, I'm not up on what all the AE has...). The Brutes and Overseers would make good D&D-style mobs. Then there's the Minotaurs and Cyclopes from Cimeroran Traitors, Arachnoids as spider monsters, pretty much any CoT mob, Legacy Chain, etc. Or make your own. My group made Kobolds and Orcs, among others.
And as long as you can ignore the war-walls, there are plenty of exterior maps to use, as well as a plethora of cave and Oranbega maps.(Be sure to use tickets to unlock more of those, some of the unlocks are awesome.)
Uh, but yeah. This thread is making me miss it now... -
If CWK.STS(LZY) Then PRA.CLN = False

Upgrade to the 10.7 drivers. AA+AO works fine on my 5850.
-
Oh, for a sec I thought this was going to be about the fact that almost no buildings in Praetoria reflect in the water.
I am pretty satisfied with the amount of window reflections in the new areas though. One thing of note seems to be missing though, there aren't any reflections in the gold-colored surfaces.
As for the less-than-perfect reflections, make sure your setting is as high as it can go. Even at highest settings, my reflection is a little jaggy, but it still looks pretty darn good. -
Quote:See I would have thought that it was already a priority and that they would already be working on it. I mean, they've been asked about it so many times in similar Q&As/interviews, one would have thought that they'd get the hint. Thanks for this!
About Power Pool Customization:
Okay the actual things said are not quite as bad the OP synopsis (Still a bit deflating, but not as bad as it first sounded to me):
That's not a "no".
And I hope that we can convince them to make that a high enough priority to make the time.
Endgame System/Content and Power Pool Customization would probably be what I'd peg as two top contenders for development time (If I had magic control over WW... which I might... If I can remember the last few lines of that spell... hmmm...)
But if it's really something that's only being talked about as a possibility at this point, then yeah maybe we need to convince them that it's something that should be moved up the list.
The power customization system is NOT complete without pool customization.
Very interested to hear about the next booster(s). Not even gonna try to guess what they'll be, I'm not going down that road again.
And the Praetorian GM... Praet Hami maybe? Or Cole himself? -
Nope, still working fine for me. 5850, 10.7 drivers, Win7x64.
EDIT: Actually, I should say that the effects haven't changed due to the new patch. I am still having a slight problem with transparent textures and AA... For instance, standing in front of, say, the Supercomputer available to bases, there's a thin line around my character that seems to "x-ray" through the metal texture to reveal the glowing blue texture underneath. However, this problem is not new with i18, it's been there since I was able to turn AA back on when 10.7 drivers were released. -
I am. Logged in and didn't have the option to redeem slots. (Of course I prepurchased Going Rogue.) Thought they must not be available yet, but others on my global channels said they got theirs.
I /petitioned it in-game, though not sure if that'll help. -
Well if you're considering buying a Blu Ray player, this year might be as good a time as any, with stuff like Back to the Future and The Goonies coming out on the format this fall. Plus there's tons of other childhood favorites, like the Ninja Turtles movies, Monster Squad, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, etc already available.
Plus the players themselves are getting pretty cheap. And there's the added bonus of being able to use Netflix streaming with a lot of them.
... I swear I'm not a BR shill.
Even though these are the Greedo-shoots-first versions, I'll probably get them. They'll get bonus points if the box looks good, at least. -
Quote:Correction: The booster is a collection of the in-game items that come with the Complete Collection version of Going Rogue. If you prepurchased Going Rogue on the NCSoft store(to get Pistols or Demons early) you do NOT get the Complete Collection stuff and you must buy the booster.Yes, you can buy them via the Complete Collection Booster, but since the booster is just a collection of the in-game goodies that comes with GR, technically, they're part of GR.
Essentially, if you want the Alpha and Omega stuff, you have to pay real monies. They're not freebie costume parts. -
Highest character I've ever deleted was 39, for reasons of redundancy. But then again if I'm not enjoying a character by 22/SOs, I don't keep them.
I don't necessarily play all of my 50s a whole lot, but I know when I do, I'll enjoy it. -
Confirming, 10.7s seem to resolve the AA/AO issue on my 5850. Win7x64. Very glad.
-
Quote:Remaining cautiously optimistic. I'm downloading em now but will wait for your verdict... Definitely let us know if the new drivers fixed this for you.The new 10.7 drivers for Windows 7 x64 have resolved this for my 5850.
I've got AA and AO both enabled and the tell-tale squares along the edges are gone. IQ is excellent.
EDIT: Oops - yeah, these were just released today -
I also tend to just use the black setting for all three light areas, and use lighting objects for illuminating the spaces.
Every once in awhile I'll use ambient lighting though, like if I'm trying for a "skylight" look or something. -
I'm on a phone right now so I can't link to a source post, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that while you can't roll a HEAT or VEAT as a Praetorian, you can take them through the side switching system.

Here's a few of mine, very similar to what Demon Hunter made: (Click to view larger)
Kitchen 1:
- Oven is made up of various white pieces from "Cabinets" tab, with one hung on the wall as the back. Wastebaskets from "Room Details" tab make up the burners, with an optional Long Crate from "Tech" floated up as a window of sorts.
- Fridge is more white cabinets, with the top being several floated out from the wall. Handles are floated small wire bundles from "Wall Details".
Kitchen 2:
- Oven is the same as above. Fridge is also the same, however I sunk the bottom cabinet piece a notch into the floor to lower overall height.
- Sink is made from 2 Large Wall Sconce(Off) along with some cabinetry, one of the small containers from tech sunk into the floor, and a couple of the Microphone pieces(from Room Details) overlapping for a faucet.
Closer view of oven:
Microwave(Industrial):
- More white wall cabinets, a Large Vent, Medium Junction Box, and Office Phone.
-
I tested every chapter from two stories I wrote, and a couple of unfinished ones from a third.
I got:
Stephen King
JD Salinger
David Foster Wallace
HG Wells
William Gibson
JK Rowling
HP Lovecraft
Kurt Vonnegut
Margaret Mitchell
Dan Brown
Ian Fleming
Stephanie Meyer (WUT)
I didn't really count them as I went but I know I got Lovecraft and King twice and HG Wells a few times. But David Foster Wallace seemed to have the overwhelming majority, I got him a lot.
EDIT: Did a few of my longer forum posts and came up with a couple more names:
James Fenimore Cooper
Jack London
Along with a couple more Stephen Kings and a William Gibson, and a LOT of DFW. -
The lieutenants are called Noble Brutes.
-
For a short while on Test, Soldiers of Arachnos(the Huntsman/Bane/Crab kind) were able to go helmetless. That is, they were able to be in full Arachnos armor without the helmet. This was great! Then the feature was removed and it never went live. It would be very very nice to have this back!
Also as someone mentioned earlier in the thread: when using Ultra Mode, the secondary patterns on most Shield types don't show up. I think this is due to a bug and not a "taken away" costume piece, but I figure it fits enough to mention here.
Agree on wanting the pirate shirt and the fur shoulders back, regardless of if it's supposed to be a Woodsman unique piece.
While you're working on this stuff, I also urge you to take a look at gender parity for costume parts. Perhaps it warrants yet another thread, "All Things Art: Gender Parity"? But there are a lot of things Females have that Males/Huge don't, and vice-versa. -
-
In regard to your second picture, do you see it consistently? Is there a specific place you can go to where you will always see it? If so, where?
-
As to the first picture, that's actually a visible "edge" to the light texture that's attached to a hanging light above.
Just imagine a hollow "cone" or a funnel that's invisible and inverted so the small end is pointed toward the light. Then slap a subtle image on it to simulate a light glow.
You're right in that the line is not supposed to be visible, but that problem has been there since I can remember. It's not a graphics card problem as far as I know, but a geometry/texture problem that the devs would need to fix themselves.
As to your second picture, I really have no clue. -
Quote:This is why I specifically said "civilian NPCs, pedestrians, and contact NPCs". I did not mention enemy NPCs in that list. I went on to say how scaling enemy groups might be problematic despite some of them being of ludicrous size. Then I started rambling about possibilities. That is a LOT of work with potentially disconcerting consequences. Rescaling civilians to match the ruler should be easy. There are something like 20 models for them, and all civilian-exclusive. Everything else, however, features SO many models it's probably not economical to do so. And that's AFTER deciding who should be how tall. I mean, how tall should a Blood Brother Chopper be? He doesn't have any reason to be giant, but he could be a short guy or a tall guy, so 5-7 feet, maybe? Should the Freakshow be bigger? Should the Nemesis army soldiers? The Vanguard are already tiny, because they were made to scale, but should Malta soldiers be big?
And even supposing all of that is changed, what we're left with is a world where our heroes one day wake up and are GIANT compared to everyone else. This means rescaling each and every costume's height to match the new environment, which is not only a lot of busywork, but actually requires a paid-for booster pack that many claimed wasn't worth the buy, so presumably many don't have.
Don't take me the wrong way - I WANT to see this. I want to see either the ruler adjusted to fit the in-game reality or the in-game reality changed to fit the world's actual scale. Or maybe we could have the world upscaled somewhat to fit the NPCs? I don't know. I'd like to know that normal people are actually normal unless they have a reason to be huge, but I'm not sure that's feasible to do at this point.
