Damn got so close... I didn't gimp the attacks but this build has no AoE - 44.8% s/l, capped e/n (well you could cap with stealth as the final power but I'm not a fan of this solution)
For fm/sd, OP see http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=216944

Quote:I think Neo's mobs have more powerful ranged attacks. I leveled a WS to 22 in quite little time in the OP's map, it was a bit of a chore in the 6 first levels (orbiting death, tanker level damage aura + sands of mu lol). The OP's mobs throw such weak knives it was smooth sailing after I got nova. I did it 0/x8 no bosses and it was faster than my fire/fire tanker I also took to SO-level.Some more thoughts on things that aren't brutes, because I mostly play things that aren't brutes. I don't use any temporary powers.
-Neogumbercules's mission is quite a bit harder for hoverers on the new map. I could do -1x8 with bosses with just enough difficulty to be interesting on my Fire/Traps corruptor before. Now, it doesn't work all that well, and I think I can blame that squarely on the map giving mobs more room to spread out.
-Fire Control works reasonably well, with Hot Feet providing both damage and mitigation. I think losing containment damage probably hurts fire controllers more than the Afraid from Hot Feet helps. Dominators are probably just as well off with this, but since I have no desire to ever create another Fire Control character, I haven't tested that.
-Electric Control and Ice Control were of particular interest to me, since their toggles are some of the only things I'm aware of that provide a useful amount of mitigation in this sort of environment. Well, my Elec/Earth dom definitely saw some mitigation, but still couldn't put out enough damage to be sustainable.
-My Elec/Rad controller could put out enough damage to be sustainable. That's probably due to having procs that approximately double her dps.
-Arctic Air on an Elec/Thorn dominator also provides noticable mitigation, but not enough to be sustainable on it's own. Hovering helps quite a bit, but again the more open map hurts it. Still, at that point I was at least getting more inf from defeats than the inspirations I was buying cost. (Also, blues are a must. Running out of end is basically fatal.)
In conclusion, I'd really like to see the old map again...
But I agree, finding a spot to hoverblast in Neo's map was difficult, I didn't see the old one.
Of course nothing compared to the SS/FA I got to 41 alternating Neo's and the OP's map (had an easier time surviving in the OP's with the broot so I went to his map when I didn't want to pay much attention). Claws or DB/FA must be faster but even having no AoE the damage aura dishes out impressive damage. Of course after I got Burn I went to Frontload, took him to 41 fast, even with his build mostly unslotted I was doing +3/x8 on Frontload with him because of Fury and popping Reds (and Rage for the to-hit, I only put common acc IOs and end reducers in the key powers and a ff +rech proc in Footstomp, oh and a kismet acc I rolled).
But well I'm not making much of a profit with this kind of farming. People tell me to roll either Bronze 15-19 or Silver 25-29, I do Silver and Bronze for the leftovers and by selling it the useful stuff at good prices I only have like 50 mil on him. -
Kinetic Combats are gonna go off the charts with all those scrapper players and the buff to /ea
-
Quote:Yeah but that always makes people think about Energy Aura and eventually someone says the poster should use ELA to avoid confusion. Nitpick I know, but all the threads I saw calling Electric Armor 'EA' ended up in confusion, while /EA was always assumed to be Energy.I have seen people posting Electric Armor builds and calling it "EA" in the title.
With changes in the works, I don't know if it is worth investing in a build for Energy Aura. You would likely have to redo everything anyways.
Anyway, I agree with you, we don't have percentages on the recharge number per mob the new taunt aura will give, how much it will be worth enhancing it, as well as the defense Energy Drain will provide too. The only 'given' for my broot (Pretty Strong, obviously he's WM/EA lol - I was gonna make him my soloer of crazy stuff, but now with the new buffs it won't be funny to show /EA doing crazy things because imo the changes might put /EA in a very good place among the other armors (depending on the numbers of course) is putting 5 doctored wounds in Energize like on my Stone/Elec (I don't like abbreviations btw - like writing SM/ELA, here in Brazil we are not fans of using these for many things, like we don't have an equivalent to IMHO, YMMV, etc, I guess it's mostly an American thing since my friends who moved to the States use those all the time on the internets after a few years). -
One suggestion: make the enemies level 1-4 so that we can play the mission at +1. +2 or +3 if we desire, like this arc 504915 - I like yours better (it's easier, I even pl'ed a Warshade) but this one also is a level 1 farm but enemies are level 2 for example if you up the diff to +1.

Quote:It's actually not a bad pairing even right now, you can cap s/l/n/e and get aid self, besides having unlimited endurance earlier than elec armor. Or cap f/c too but I couldn't do that and keep aid self. And Mace has great mitigation, which helps a lot.I've been seeing a lot of people saying that they wouldn't want to pair war mace with EA, I totally agree right now but when they make the changes it will much better then it is right now.
It was bad because at the time the OP posted (before your join date here, so maybe you weren't in the game) Mace/EA was laughed at but it received some buffs after that, and now it will get even more (like everything they port to heroes lol) -
They will replace it.
Quote:Dark Blast and Darkness Manipulation for Blasters
We chose Dark Blast as it would be a fun control centric blast set for Blasters. The power set was changed slightly to make it a better fit for Blasters. Dark Pit was removed, Torrent and Nightfall were merged into a single power: Umbral Torrent, and then Aim and a new power Abyssal Gaze (a single target hold with a DoT component) were added to round out the set.
Darkness Manipulation made a lot of sense as it was fairly low hanging fruit and would be a perfect pairing for Dark Blast. The set is made up of powers that are found in Dark Armor, Defender Dark Blast and Dark Miasma. The set can deliver crushing melee damage as well as provide a measure of crowd control and self buffs. -
Quote:The partial crit on TF infuriates me after the EM nerf. I can't take half a pink boss' health bar and stun him with a crit TF while I can do this with Seismic Smash on my Brute AND hold him. In half the animation time.I would say go EM/WP on a brute or EM/Shields on a brute. Reason being is that the stalker version gets partial crit on TF and no crit on ET. While the stalker might have higher base damage you can easily leverage fury and the shield aura to make it more deadly. Honestly I was hoping scrappers get it eventually but my fear is that they will neuter it like the stalker version and take away the crits.

So I made an Elec/Earth and I'm very unimpressed with Tremor and I don't like Fissure's numbers, they both do less damage than Thorn Burst and even Fling Thorns. Since he's only level 6 I'm thinking about rerolling him into a good ST/AoE damage toon, I thought /Earth would have that but Mud Pots also doesn't seem to hot, less damage than Hot Feet and small radius (even though this dom would be very melee focused).
So, Elec/what? I guess melee is preferred with Elec because of the Aura and sleep patch. I'm considering Thorns, any other suggestions? Would thorns' DoT interfere too much with Elec's sleep patch?
Oh btw, please no psi, I played this set so much I'm burned out on it, I know it's beastly and I'd have picked it and wouldn't even ask you guys if I hadn't played it to death
Thanks! -
Although it's a shadow of its former self (no mag 4 stun on TF, ET animating forever) I prefer EM on Stalkers. Em/Nin is a good combo, Nin is great with anything really.
-
Quote:Not really we are used to call Eletric Armor ELA in the forums.EA could be Electric Armor or Energy Aura.
I'm going to wait until Mids' is updated to try to make or review any Energy Aura builds. The changes are not on live servers and they could still adjust the numbers, so power information on test is not worth making a build around.
As for the OP... I cannot look now because I'm on my phone but I like to cap s/l/n/e and have about 30% ranged for the psi stuff. -
Quote:Frozen Aura has only a 10' radius, little more than Spin and etc. Footstomp has 15 and it is way better due to kd and Rage. GIS is a very lackluster attack and I think that's what Stalkers are getting instead of FA, we don't see ST attacks getting pulled out of Stalker primaries.Ice Barrage is basically Barrage *from energy) just with ice, that 1-2 punch animation.
Ice currently has pretty high damage, due to frost and frozen aura, mainly due to the frozen aura buff awhile ago. Now its basically foot stomp with cold damage. Super strength deals pretty high damage, both single target, and AoE, and ice is on par with SS. -
Well 2k, 2409, doesn't matter too much. I suggested the scrapper cap because that's what Khelds have so that they can have a Dwarf with 2090 HP using dull pain (PBs) and accolades (and more with IO bonuses, maybe they can get very close to the cap) - that means, their HP cap is so high (and their base hp is lower than Stalkers) so that they can make use of all of it if necessary. So I don't think that correcting something I consider broken like the low hp cap we get (for example at 2k we couldn't max overload) would warrant not getting some balance among the primaries.
I didn't mention the damage increase because it's been discussed to death and I'm comparing only the Stalker differences among them. The HP cap is the exception because I consider it a bug, even a SO'ed WP can't take full advantage of HPT (a perma power) this way. -
-
Lol I know you did crazy things with your elec/cold but ill/whatever is the go-to for anyone with infl to solo whatever without a lot of skill involved.
-
I don't like the set, too single-target oriented, but I foresee another Godlike AT coming: Ill/Poison (Ill/Rad, Bots/Traps and Ill/Cold are the other godlike ATs, yes I said ATs I don't classify them in the same league as the rest)
-
Quote:You're getting a taunt aura with a recharge bonus so you will be able to use Energize more often than that.. I'd love to see how much +rech we will get per mob.My EA brute can currently use ED every 25 seconds (actually every 21, but 25 is a more pleasing number). With just 3 targets in range it heals for 18.5%. With 5 targets it heals for 30.9%.
How would that compare to a 48% heal and +190% regen from Energize on a 40 second cycle?
If I lose Stimulant and Aid Self to pick up Energize, I might grab Hand Clap, because all SS incarnates need to spam that (Imperious and Statesman taught me that). -
Why wait till 21? Roll a lowbie and start one shotting white minions with unslotted swipe at level 1!
-
The sad thing is that SoA's Cloak has 3.75% def when suppressed (like Cloak of Darkness and Energy Cloak which never suppress), while Hide only has 1.88% suppressed. Making Hide 3.75% and higher when unsuppressed like SoA's Cloak would be great.
-
The reason I don't miss it is that while the 90% fury moments were glorious, they were just moments to me. Because if I had to walk a short hallway (and I lose myself easily in caves) I started doing crap damage again. And since I had a long hiatus and the only high level (38, not exactly very high) I'm playing is a Stone/Elec Brute I am now able to tank with him when needed (Fault makes any secondary able to tank) and still doing very high damage because I can get the bar up with only my blows, I tanked SFs before my hiatus with her (because I was requested to, few buffs, many squishies) and I never had fury. I've been teaming with a BS/Regen scrapper and while subjective, I don't feel I'm doing less damage than him, not to any point it looks significant to me, but I'm not the kind that soloes pylons and stuff, I like teams.
-
Maybe it's a temporary youtube thing. Same thing happened to me , I'm using Aurora (FF 6) but youtube videos wouldn't play for me neither in Aurora or Chrome, no problem with any other flash sites.
I gave up, went back to Mac OS X (I use a mac and run CoX in windows), didn't test youtube while I was in Mac OS but when I rebooted in windows a day later everything was fine with youtube again.
BTW isn't FF 3 officially not supported anymore by Mozilla? -
Well the HP cap I consider a bug to be so low.
I also don't think this will put us on par with scrappers and the like, nor this was the intention of the post, but I don't think I'm looking at the powers in a vacuum. Like I said, I feel MA doesn't need so many STs and EM would be quite fine with some buffs to TF even without WH because of its two heavy hitters. I looked hard at all the numbers on all the primaries, that's why I posted WH or whirling swords would not be strictly necessary with a 100% AoE chance on Slice and Headsplitter, Spin is great too but if Shockwave and Evisc (turned into Aoe) gave 100% chance that'd be good enough to balance between Stalkers. I wrote only about Burst from KM because I feel the set is good with CS giving insta-BU as it is and the rest of the set is good enough overall.
But yeah, wouldn't put us on par with scrappers and the like. I just feel the balance in the AT is a bit wonky considering the primaries. The sets I find that are fine are DM and KM, and it's not like they're overpowered. Spines and ELM are good too but I'd like the 100% aoE chance to crit on TS and Throw Spines (and a raised chance on S. Burst) -
Quote:Oh I know that, I'm just loving Brutes since the Fury change, that was more of a 'I support this' response. But I didn't even think about rerolling my fm/sd scrapper into a Brute (AAO, dmg cap on SCharge, you know this stuff better than meWellll... a dm/sd scrapper is going to push out much higher damage than a dm/sd brute due to the way damage buffs and AT mods work.
).

-
Quote:Yeah sure it's one combo, just like I'd make a ss/sd scrapper instead of brute because sd has a taunt aura and AAO benefits scrappers much more, even though I don't like scrappers nearly as much as Brutes since now I get to keep my fury. That's of course subjective but I've been playing my SM/Elec Brute and I'm always impressed with her damage solo or not. I only like crits when I can control them, that's why I like Stalkers although I know they're underperformers. I prefer Fury because I just KNOW I'm gonna one-shot that white minion with Swipe on my level 12 claws bruteMost likely SS/FA will remain a great Brute pairing.
But that's one combo, and that's also before we actually see what a double stacked rage fueled, FE charged foot stomp or KO Blow critical might look like.
