Energy Aura Revamp

Resistance on the set's auto powers were slightly increased and now include endurance drain protection and slow resistance.

Entropy Shield is now Entropic Aura for Scrappers and Brutes. This power is a taunt aura that grants the user a scaling recharge buff based on the number of foes surrounding the user. The Stalker version of the set doesn't have a taunt aura, but it offers a small Recharge bonus.

Repulse for Stalkers has been replaced by Disrupt, a stun aura.

Energy Drain no longer has a healing component, instead it offers a small defense boost per target hit.

Conserve Energy was replaced by Energize, a self Heal that offers a moderate regeneration and endurance cost reduction boost for a short while. This power works identically to the Electric Armor version.
I'm going to try my best not to foam at the mouth while I think of how my DM/EA Brute will become even more unkillable. Energize is a vast improvement for its healing.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

About time they made Energy Drain like EA from Ice Armor.

I agree since EA was based on Ice Armor to begin with.

The Stun aura looks intersting for stalkers, and I may drop hasten for it depending on how much constant recharge they give stalkers (seeing as we don't get the taunt aura mechanic).

My DM/EA Brute is already soft-capped to Sm, Le, En and has nearly 40% to Fire and Cold. This settles it, I'm turning her into my main tanking character.

STRONG AND PRETTY FOREVER!!

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Talked about in the UStream and in the new Informer.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Mine's already soft-capped to all but Psi. Now I have to figure out if I want to take some of that out (since Energy Drain will make up for it) and add in some recharge bonuses to stack on the aura, or just leave as is and make it iTrial sturdy...

Damn... I started foaming...

Oh, and added the link to the OP... oops.

My KM/EA unlimited budget stalker already is softcapped to all but Psionics, with permahasten and 5 unused slots placed in Conserve power.

I am ready to move my 5xDoctored Woulds to Energize, Reslot Energy Drain with Red Fortune, and Drop hasten (if the recharge built into the set is 20%) and take the new stun aura.

Should be pretty devestating.

Though I really hope they change the FX for Repulse... Good lord its ugly.

Repulse got Cottage Ruled. It's now a Stun Aura of some sort.

Meh, Shield Defense looks better still. More resists and -Damage, +Max HP boost that doesn't crash your endurance, AAO+Shield Charge>a bit of extra recharge, and frankly who needs self heals nowadays with IO's and Rebirth.

Mains (Freedom) @Auroxis
Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

If ED is going to become a clone of EA, then you'll be able to hit the iSoftcap (59%) from 45% with a couple applications of the power. If you use Nerve for your alpha you can go over 59% with 1 application of the power. This assumes saturation of 10 targets per use, of course.

I would like to keep my /ea brute now, but it's em/ea so it's already doomed for deletion. :\

This may shock you: But some of us play below 50.

Ice Armor is better than SD below 50 as well. That doesn't mean it doesn't need a buff.

Sorry, with all the Incarnate and level 50 content that's getting pumped out, I can't accept the "better below 50=balance" argument anymore.

This does sound EXTREMELY inticing. May even reroll my favorite Tank into EM/EA or SS/EA... hmmm...

I need a self-heal.

My Fire/Shield Scrapper is an unholy beast of a character. But with only Destiny as her heal, it seriously hurts sometimes. My BS/Regen Scrapper is more twitchy and not nearly as sturdy most of the time, but having a heals means when stuff is going south and fast you have something there to get you through.

Personally, Shield does great because of AAO and Shield Charge. But it won't be defensively better than EA after the buffs.

I think it's more accurate to state that with all the incarnate stuff the entire concept of game balance has been tossed out with the bath water.

I might even crank up a second tank with SR being added. Talk about a cakewalk for solo leveling...

Be well, people of CoH.

I assume this is an i21 thing? I can't read the link at work.

The timing is perfect, I was just about to roll my first /EA, a brute. I guess I'll wait now.

You assume correctly. EA is being proliferated to Scrappers and thus is being buffed good and proper.

I said it before.... and I'll say it again.....
Only thing missing on EA is a taunt aura...

all the good stuff that comes with are all welcome of course....

Not interested until we get a proper low/no FX option for Energy Cloak. I want to see my costume, pretty please.

I think I like getting Energize swapped in. The heal on Energy Drain was... underwhelming.

Though it means I'll need to do some respeccing on my Energy/Energy brute again.

And Repulse is the power I'd thought of the times I'd mentioned "one power that really needs this violated..." in cottage rule discussions lately. It just made no sense to me on stalkers. Though I suppose you *could* say it's still performing the same function (PBAOE "control" or "aggro removal,") it's going to extremes to do so.

I've got an SS/EA brute sitting at 41 that I have always liked even though I don't play him much. Fully IO'd for far cheaper than my em/inv brute he'll be soft capped to all, have almost 2100 hp and capped hp in Overload, and with these changes will become even more offensive with the +recharge and more durable with the +def boost and 50% hp heal and 200% regen.

An IO'd /EA brute is looking at having:

+2k hp
50% heal
+soft capped defense
regen 40-50hp per second

I think it might be reasonable to say that once these changes take effect /EA will become the premier defense set overtaking super reflexes.

/SR still offers +20% recharge, but I won't be surprised if /EA with 3-5 targets in range ends up equaling that negating that bonus.

/SR has uber defense debuff resistance and this will always be it's strongest point imo.

/SR also has scaling resists. I have never played an /SR character before so I can't comment on how effective this is.

/EA on the otherhand gets a 50% hp heal, +200% regen, FAR better endurance management, a superior tier 9 clicky, and increased defense every time it gains end from energy drain.

Looks pretty awesome to me.

My guess is that when /SR is ported to tankers they tweak /SR abit. I remember when a pimped out /SR was awesome. My /Inv brute laughs now having practically equal defense and being FAR sturdier now with IO's.

I would bet money that /SR's scaling resists are modified and increased in strength. I don't care how high /SR's defense is because without either +hp or a pumped up scaling resist when it does get hit it's gonna get hit hard compared to an /ice or especially /Inv brute.

The changes do seem interesting, looking forward to checking it out with titan weapons a little bit more now.

Same here. If this somehow gets overlooked, I'm going to keep passing this one by.
