  1. Anyone ever feel bored of this game or unwilling to put more effort into it but always come back to it? I've tried to leave several times for different games but always find myself wondering back to the CoH login screen to play around a little. Anyone else have this issue?
  2. I think you're right about sticking with WP, I just get so many ideas and don't know what to do with them :-p

And are the new Alpha powers live yet? Along with TW? I haven't been able to log on since last week.
  3. I love playing my SS/WP Brute and he is level 32 right now and just picked up foot stomp. I had this crazy idea earlier to remake him as SS/EA because the new changes to /EA have caught my attention since they came out but I never had the urge to play it. Both fit thematically and conceptually. My question is "Would it be worth it to restart the character at this point or just ride it out to the end and put off my altitis?" Is /EA a bigger bag of fun than /WP? Does the end game survivability change greatly between the two?

As it stands now, I plan to get him IO'd out eventually to be softcapped and etc and pick up spiritual as the alpha slot. But if I went this other route, I'd still IO him out but probably go cardiac for the alpha.

    Thanks for any feedback!
  4. I know it's probably been said but I need a quick and easy explanation. My current favorite project is my SS/WP Brute who is fun to play but I keep having scruples with /WP and need some clarification. I solo more than I team and /WP has been more than helpful in the solo category but at times on SO's doesn't feel super sturdy. I know sets change everything but I'm waiting til end game to dive into that. The toon was an INV/EM Tanker from days of yore before I restarted him months ago. I liked Invuln for the simple fact it could take a face-bashing for a while before anything really happened.

Which brings to my question: In the educated majorities' opinion, which outshines the other in the end game content? /WP or /INV? With and without sets. He just hit 32 today and I have enjoyed him thus far but like I said part of me misses Invuln for some odd reason. Is this crazy? Should I just shut up and see the beauty of /WP in the last chunk of my leveling experience? Thanks in advance for any answers you Brutes you!

  6. Let's be honest, they do have a majority of the pages...

Anyhoo, builds aside, I rolled a KM/INV Brute recently and was wondering if anybody has any input on how that combo might perform? Strengths? Weaknesses?

I figure the -dmg and KD side effects would mesh well with /INV's resists. Plausible? Plus I just reallly needed an idea for a KM/ toon so I brainstormed and got a product I like.
  7. Oh I'm already not going EM, it was a last resort thing. SS has so much more fun factor and SMASH. I like kinetic but its not melee enough for me, and as said above "too dancy". I think its gonna be a SS/WP roll with bright auras and power colorations. Thanks for the advice everyone!

It sounds kind of Superman(ish) but he and his brother (also in sig, the one I'm not super into his concept and could stand to be deleted) are from the planet Prime. He was sent here because Prime is on a downward spiral into corruption and anarchy so his parents didn't want to have him in that environment anymore. So they send him off to another world that isn't heinous, yet.

He gets his powers from the Power of Prime, a source of energy which all the people of Prime tap into for their powers. EM kind of works cuz its energy and you don't really know what it looks like. I like the idea of him using SS/WP so he is "drawing from the Power of Prime to increase his physical abilities to limitless proportions." Or something like that. As said before I like both /WP and /INV and both work for his idea but I've done invuln to 50 and I've seen what it can do.

Sorry if that was more than you were looking for as an answer, had to put it in perspective I guess. Hope this helps a little.
  9. I've been considering rerolling my favorite Tank (see sig) as an SS/WP or SS/INV or EM/INV (sticking with his original concept) Brute. I'm all about his concept but being the Tank he is, the damage is lacking. I like SS for its uber SMASH factor and it is quite a good set. While I do enjoy EM, the set has gotten rather old and the nerfs have taken to their toll on me. For me, this is a way to breathe new life into the idea and have fun with it.

I'm leaning towards SS/WP because its fun and I hear is quite tough. Not to say /INV isn't but I feel /WP brings something different to the table. I do have an SS/WP Brute but I don't enjoy him and his concept as much as my Tank's concept.

As a mostly solo player, I ask the Brute community, which of these is advised to breathe new life into a favorite toon and make a (somewhat) pleasurable leveling experience? (Builds and IOs aside)

    Thanks in advance!

  11. I've tried /regen on a few Scrappers but never got them past 22 or 23. For some reason, an SS/Regen Brute just sounds SO FREAKIN' AWESOME that I'm actually really stoked about it. I don't know why but it just sounds like an uber combo. Plus it would give me a reason to pick Hand Clap for the first time ever and actually use it for its mitigation. For me, regen was always rough ride until you get SOs and then it picks up.
  12. This does sound EXTREMELY inticing. May even reroll my favorite Tank into EM/EA or SS/EA... hmmm...
  13. Mach_Four

    /SR

Plus doesn't double stacking Rage nullify the crash? Or is that just the damage portion?
  14. A little over 4 hours of this arc and my brute is lvl 31. A useful tool indeed.
  15. Ah, made the change at lvl 22 and got trampled.
  16. Just rerolled my toon and run this mish(arc 504371). 1-16 in an hour and change, not too shabby :-D Although I couldn't help but feel I was doing it wrong. I was just going into the first room, triggering ambushes, slaughtering, getting clicky, rinse and repeat. Is that the right way or am I missing something monumental deeper into the map? I was averaging 1 every 2-3 runs.
  17. Well, I may just reroll this toon tonight as SS/Elec because it still fits the concept and I've yet to make an Elec armor toon I like. I was never really taken by the AE farm stuff, it always sounds monotonous and boring. But after doing some reading on here, going 0-50 without leaving the building does sound more attractive than regular story arcs. Plus I've read that with some extra dedication, 50 is a less than 12 hour goal if done right in AE.
  18. So if I were to take my SS/INV Brute through there, it would take a great deal longer but would achieve a similar effect as far as leveling goes?
  19. Is this jut for XP? Or does it dish out a great deal of INF too?

Also is it still doable with a non-damage aura Brute?
  20. I just rolled one of these and was just wondering if it's a fun toon to play or should I steer clear of it? I really like the concept I had for him and ice armor seems to have a lot of survival tools later in the game.

    Elec/WP

Awesome, thanks for the hasty reply!

    Elec/WP

I rolled one of these as another concept toon. Still low lvl but I was wondering if the knockback portions of Thunderstrike and Lightning Rod would be counter-productive for RttC and would be slightly detrimental to survivability. Is this a legit concern or is it much smaller than one would think? Not to hijack the thread, just a question that sort of ties into the build.

    New looks to MA?

Good stuff! (Just want a punch for Thunder Kick!)
Yes, yes I did actually back in November from almost three years away. Finally took my main to the tailor to see if they had changed the looks of the powers like a lot of other sets and sure enough, they had. I had already seen Super Strength's changes but never thought to look at my MA Scrappers powers. I didn't change any of mine because I kinda like them. Plus IMO CAK shouldn't get a Haymaker animation if it doesn't do the appropriate damage ;-p

    New looks to MA?

Just a near-pointless thread but after going to the tailor on my MA/SR Scrapper last night, I noticed they added some new looks to some of the attacks making them into more punches than kicks. Was this to add flavor to the old "all kicks and no punches" set?
