Of all the AT's in game, an all scrapper MoSTF doesn't sound like it'd be the hardest one to pull off. Eh, with proper builds, stacking leadership, and IO bonuses, getting a team for the soft cap isn't a massive challange, and then your pretty much good to go for a master run. I'd imagian a team of softcapped blasters with a "medic" would make a mockery of it with there massive damage output. Throw in a few sonic blasters and it just gets scray.
Fact of the matter is, as much as i LOVE this game, it's really not what i'd consider overly difficult. Alittle preplaning and a good knowlageable group of frineds, you can do most anything with ease in this game. -

Depends I guess on what you want.
You want a guy who can just make a spawn go bye bye in like, 2 moves? Elec/Sheild... BuildUp/SC/LR... it's all dead. You'll have to deal with the next spawn without your 2 heavy hitters, or you can stager them, but basically, what you have here is the king for AoE aplha striking.
Now, if you just want, constent, 24/7, AoE madness, youd prolly roll a Spine/Dark, Fire, or now Elec. You get 2 Damage auras, spineburst, and thowspines, ready for each and every spawn.
So, it's either Spines, or Elec (IMO). Frankly, i find Spines more effective, and easier to use. The damage aura and spineburst simple to aim... you get right smack in the middle... and go nutz, and thorwspines cone is HUGE, so, again, aiming isn't hard, and the attacks recharge pretty fast. Elec, it's best aoe attack is on a long timer. JL's cone IMO is small, The chaining lighting attack is unpredictable. thrunderstike is AWSOME, no question, but all in all, i think spines is just more consistnet and more forgiving, thus, making it, genearly speaking, a better performer. -
The decision between Kat/BS is, imo, purely an aesthetic one. The only really REALLY noticeable difference between the two are the animations and skins. BS is slower, but, hits harder, Katina is faster, but less damage, but what that means is, stuff dies in about the same amount of time anyways.
If you really min/max it out, yeah, maybe the difference will be a bit more noticable... maybe. But IMO, it's all so, minor, you'll be happier picking the sword you think just LOOKS the coolest to use.
And if you want a shield, your stuck with BS.
I have both, at 50, and love them both. Really... honestly, and truly, they aren't different en ought to matter in any other way then aesthetics. -
Switf or Combat jumping are 9 times out of 10 my "throwaway" power at 49. Swift if i already have combat jumping, or combat jumping if i don't... for an Acc prog. The 3 lvl 50 slots are spent elseware.

Once you've gotten to 32+ you're pretty much "over the hill" when it comes to your powers. You've gotten the last power of your primary and probably have at least one or two more you're looking to grab from your secondary, so by 35-38 you're done with your primary/secondary powers. I think my problem is once I reach this stage there's nothing else I'm really looking forward to in the last 10 or so levels. Sure, I get my ancillary powers but they only seem to help round out my character and not really give it that "umph" that those last couple of powers in the primary/secondary sets give you. That's not to say that they're suppose to or that I wish they did, my only point is after 35-38 or so there's nothing really left that makes me go "oooh shiny, I can't wait for that".
Does anyone else share this problem or a similar one, or have any tips on how to overcome it? The toon I got to 45 I lvled with my brother and some other friends so that gave me the incentive to make it that far, but when I'm on my own I just tend to get burnt out by the time I get to the 30s.
My game play changes in the 30's. Per 30, i solo the vast majority of my content. I may run a tf or two, but that's about it. Post 30, i tend to team the vast majority of the time. And that's when the game IMO really gets going. I have the MOSTfun in the late 40's to 50's.
I see my per 30 levels as my building block levels. getting all my key powers ready and slotted, so i can be an effective teammate. Then i IO up, and start TFing in my 30's. Add polish to my build in the mid 40's, and finish up. Start over.
Nearly 30 lvl 50's after 5.5 years of play. (I have 28 50's, and 3 guys lvl 45+ currently make the push) My system is fun and works for me.And only ONE of them had any notable PLing done. An MM i just wanted to get into teaming range asap. He was my 3rd MM, so i didn't swet alittle PLing on him... >.>

Of all the I16 changes, the -1 taskforces i've been running all week are the one thing i didn't like at all. I ran a LRSF at -1 just to see if the end av's were 49. They were. it was jokingly easy. After running that, i had a concern that most, if not all, TF's after that would be set to wussy. And, i wasn't let down... it's bad enough people always want to "speed" run everything, now they want to speed run it at -1. No challange, crappy XP... No thanks.
Personally, i'd just disable the -1 feature in general, having your basic solo +0 +0 setting, you know, normal mob, be the baseline, and only allow it to work UP from there. But that's me. This is, at least, a step in the right direction. IMO of course. -
I've been "KingSnake" or "KingSnake777" for little over 6 or 7 years now. It's my 2nd real handle, and easily the longest one i've had so far. My first was Vindel Satin, a 4 school mage i played for like 2 years in Asherons Call. Not really a handle outside of that game that i used, seeing as how it was a girls name, and i'm a guy, but in game, it was my avatar, so i used it as my handle on the boards.
KingSnake, has come from the fact i own, study, and am fanisanited with Snakes. I have 2 kingsnakes, a Cal King black/white banded, and a lavander morph Cal King, i'm convinced isn't a Cal, but is really a Crimison kin with a lavander color morph. (long story)
I have 4 other snakes as well.
I planed on keeping the KingSnake monoker, but alas, that OTHER hero MMO has forced a change on me. Apperently, when i signed up, something happened, and i was forced to change my globle. (long story) I'm ZeroG661 over there if any of you also double dip in the hero MMO market. -

I have... 26... or 27 50's. with 2 more in their 40's. So when they are done, i'll either have 30, or be one short... I think i'll have 30... i think i have 28... eh, moving on...
I have one of every "common" at. All 5 hero and all 5 villians. (obviously mulitples of a few) I have one lvl 50 peacebringer. And currently, am lvling a lvl 40ish Crab. I have no real disire to roll a shade or widow atm. IMO, once the Crab is done, i'll have one of every AT. I count the epics as just that, hero and villian epics. They, IMO, are similar enough to be like 2 to 4 different power sets inside an epic AT.
My Fav hero builds are support builds, i tend to favor controllers over defenders, but can go either way. Cause IMO they are the funnest to team with. Which is all i mainly do after lvl 35 or so. Same with Villians. Corr all the way, followed by MM's.
Least Fav is prolly the epic hero AT, and stalkers for villians. Even though ironicly, i may make a new stalker when i can have a BS/*. *shrug* we'll see. -

I play on Triumph, and last time i played, a rictor scale of red spikes plauged me. I tried west server, like so many others, and it was smooth as silk.

I play on Triumph, i get red spikes constently. It's almost like a patteren. I hoped over to Virture once i read it may just be the east servers, and not a red line to be seen. Been like this a few weeks now, but really bad lately.

well. I just read some posts saying the east coast servers are the problem, and i do play on triumph... so i logged into a few old alts on vinture, and sure enough, not a red spike to be found... protector too... smooth as silk... just my HOME for the last 5 years... where my 30 lvl 50 alts are...(2 accounts.)
But i don't think there's really anything I can do anything to fix it, can i? or do i just have to wait for a fix from the devs? -
I've been noticing extra lag for a while now, but lately, it's been really bad.
I've been running netgraph and it's showing red line all over the place... little green. red bar, little green, red bar.. almost like a constent pattern.
I run Vista 64, 6 gig of ram, my ISP is insightBB, i got the 20meg service, i test my net speed at different sights and it's normally in the top % of speed.. I just downloaded and ran advanced system care for cnet, and have notice a modist improvement in general system proformance... but not CoH proformance.. i close most all background programs when i play... i have no idea why i'm so laggy lately, it's shouldn't be that way i'd think..
It wasn't, a few months / weeks back... i'm wondering if it's on my end or the servers end.. and what if anything i can do to fix it. -

IMO, and it's just IMO, Pain is a better MM powerset then Corr. It's a great set, in either AT, but i think MM's get the most out of it. All the powers can be used to full effect for an MM at all times, solo or teamed. You bring more damage to a team with your pets then a corr can, and you can do that damage at the very same time your babysitting your teammats.
Solo there is NO comparison IMO, MM's win hands down. In teams, it's much much closer. A corr has slightly better numbers, but, again, IMO a mm is a better choice.
As for the set itself. It's a great set. IMO as good or better then an Empath. I'd highly recommend it for both AT's. You'll enjoy it if team support is your bag. -
I have decent team support villain side as far as buffing goes. (Fire/Thermal, Rad/Kin, and a Thugs/Pain.) My debuffing isn't IMO quite as great. (A Bot/Dark, Merc/Posion) I mean, i get the job done, but I'm looking at making a really top notch debuffer. And I want to use a set's i haven't used yet. (which leaves only /cold /traps for corrs. and /Traps for MM's.) And since i don't really like Traps (never much for Tech heros...) That leaves cold. Which means i need to run a Corr. As for primarys, the only one, yes one, i haven't done yet is AR.
So in reaility, my choice was made for me, but honestly, i've worked up a concept i really like, (mob guy, buddies turned on him, locked him in a freezer, unlocked latent mutent cold powers, turned him blue, so he's a tommygun weilding mob dude with ice powers called Joe Blue... I can dig it.)
So all that's left is banging out a top notch build... on a budget. LOL. Here's what i'm thinking... remember i tend to frankenslot, and i tend to gear my guys for endurance effenciy over all else, i hate running out of gas mid fight, like alot.

Thoughts? I already have all the BIG IO's in storage. (few real lucky rolls, and a few i plucked from other builds that just didn't seem to really need both a Num and a Mir. Heck, if this guy doesn't need both, i'll take one out and put it in storage. But i've seen my brother AR in action and it's an end HOG, without /Colds toggles... i'm planing accordingly.)

I'm going to try all them other games. For the simple fact they aren't CoH and play differently THEN CoH. Not because I dislike CoH, not at all. Love the game. Been here 5 years, will prolly be here another 5 years... but i like a change of pace every now and then. I hope these games are as different as peolple keep saying they are... I don't WANT a CoH clone, i already PLAY coh.
I'll be in the CO headstart program. I'll play DCO when it comes out. I may even suscribe to one of them along with CoH. (I can prolly afford 2 MMO's a month, i think 3 is to much. Not money wise as much as, how can you play and do 3 mmo justice at once?? )
CoH has nothing to worry about, i love the game got near 30 lvl 50 alts. Well, until The Old Republic comes out that is... I'm a HUGE Star Wars junkie. Big enough ive accually went back to SWG a few months back for a "fix"... I may even at some point between now and TOR release go back again... But until then... CoH is home, but that doesn't mean i won't vacation elsewere from time to time. Unless of course CO is just so freaking awsome i can't stand it and never play Coh again... but i'm not really expecting that to happen. LOL -

If NCsoft runs their company anything like how we run ours, there are different departments that deal with different things. I'd assume the board people are no the same ones responsible for preping I16. So i doubt that's the reason. More then likely its just new software and a learning cruve. -

Kind of like a tf i was on last night... The team i ran an itf with last night was lead by a guy who honestly belived he could 2 box an itf... being the lead and only tank... and a blaster... both of which were mentors to Sk's... He was kind of a waste to the team, but it had 4 other really top notch players on it, and me, who's i'd range as "ok". We won... it took a while... it hads a few major annoyoncs as the leader fumbled with 2 heros... a few long afks... at least once or twice i was ready to just say screw it and leave... but i didn't... for the other teammates that were carrying their weight on the team.
Of course... part of me is kind of annoyed that this guys going to go off thinking he accaully CAN effectily 2 box an itf, and some poor people will have to suffer through it in the future... but can you do... leave and potentually screw over hard working teammates for the sake of one *****, or stay and give him a false since of addiquticy?? I was kind of proplexing there at the end for me. But then, with 28 merits, i got a Num Heal/Recharge and made a ton of money... so i consider it a net win. LOL -

My willpower tank has taunt... and like 3 aoe attacks (WP/BA) and i can still barely hold a LARGE spawn's attation completely. I've never seen a tank have such argo managment issues... I mean, i can get by, i can hold MOST of the argo, and keep bosses/EB's/AV's on me, but i can't keep a whole spawn fixed on me the whole time like some stoners or ices or fires can. I welcome any help i can get. This tank, was just uninformed and apperently oblovious to the obvious. If the mobs were packed in a courner, what's to complain about? I mean, i'd get a tad annoyed if they were flung to the 4 winds, but nicely pilled in a courner ready for AoE distruction?

I had 3 goals.
First and formost, getting me and my kid brothers duo into the upper 40's. we aimed for 45, and got it. So check one.
Getting my ice/storm controller to 45. I made 43.... so strike one.
Getting my crab spider to 35. I'm 34.8.... SOOO close i'm going to call it a wash as my patrol xp will get me to 35 NP.
So, I made one goal outright, pretty much made one, and failed one. Not bad. AND i got my baby Elec/Elec blaster to 21... i was hoping for 22 and so's, but i'm happy being one level away from SO's. Only real bummer i had was not being able to play at all with a theamed SG i join a few weeks back. I told my bro this was our time to level, and well, it took longer then i expected. -
I got my 63 month badge on my main account this week, and will be getting it on my secondary account next week. I'd say I'm in the first wave. And i plan on staying succribed... so i'm in the second wave... and i'll preorder unless CO just freaking blows me away when i try it next month, so i'd say i'm in 3rd wave too...

My hardest leveler to keep alive, SOLO, as my fire/thermal corr. I had... one weak aoe heal... one useless (reletively speaking, heat exhostion isn't all that great solo against non av's.) debuff, and one good one, on a longish timer.
So, basically i could heal myself, kind of, and a debuff that helped my damage a bit, at lvl 38, and a primary with zero damage midigation, as in, nada.
Soloing was slow. Bosses, HARD without inspreations. Cranking up my difficualty was kind of out of the question...
That's all solo mind you. In a team, i excelled. great team buffs, nice damage, mother of all nukes, life was good.
A weak teaming build... eh, is there one? so long as you on a good team, any build works... and conversely, even the greatest teaming build ever can't save a sucky team... -
I can see me replacing old Jab with new Jab, just because my build has Boxing, which i use as an attack (tight build) and i hate having the same anamations for both attacks... i'll replace old haymake, and i'll take ground punch (which is freaking awsome)... knockout blow stays the popeye wind up... sweet, i'm really digging the new SS anamations...
Not so much the MA ones. Only one i'll switch out is CaK. always hated how it looked, but always took it cause it was decent damage. I'll replace it... with it's punch, my build replaces the tire one kick with boxing anyways, so 2 punches, 3 kicks, and a sweep, a good soild MA moveset i think.
All in all, i'm looking forward to it!
