My netgraph looks like a rictor scale..

I've been noticing extra lag for a while now, but lately, it's been really bad.

I've been running netgraph and it's showing red line all over the place... little green. red bar, little green, red bar.. almost like a constent pattern.

I run Vista 64, 6 gig of ram, my ISP is insightBB, i got the 20meg service, i test my net speed at different sights and it's normally in the top % of speed.. I just downloaded and ran advanced system care for cnet, and have notice a modist improvement in general system proformance... but not CoH proformance.. i close most all background programs when i play... i have no idea why i'm so laggy lately, it's shouldn't be that way i'd think..

It wasn't, a few months / weeks back... i'm wondering if it's on my end or the servers end.. and what if anything i can do to fix it.

well. I just read some posts saying the east coast servers are the problem, and i do play on triumph... so i logged into a few old alts on vinture, and sure enough, not a red spike to be found... protector too... smooth as silk... just my HOME for the last 5 years... where my 30 lvl 50 alts are...(2 accounts.)

But i don't think there's really anything I can do anything to fix it, can i? or do i just have to wait for a fix from the devs?

File a support ticket on the NCSoft Support Site and work through the steps that they ask you to in order to troubleshoot the issues.

If you don't let them know there is a problem, and work through the troubleshooting steps so that they can try to find the source of the trouble, well, then there isn't much anyone else can do to help you.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Support ticket wont work. I filed one and they have you do ping plotter and everything and eventually arrive at it being your isp and not the servers. When the trace route clearly shows its not your isp. If it were my isp I'd be having connection problems in every game and so far its been this one since about a week before double xp.

Wow, I just came here to post the EXACT same thing thinking "What is wrong with my connection" and I find this post. Yes I play on Freedom too (East Coast server) and I login to Virtue and its smooth as silk.

This is HIGHLY annoying.

By the way, are we all random ISPs?

Hey guys I made a thread about this in this forum, maybe we can determine if it is effecting people in a certain area. Please check it out

Then I would recommend politely asking that they reopen the ticket and help your ISP determine where the cause lies between the ISP connection and the CoH Servers.

We've had other players that have filed tickets for problems and NCSoft Support worked to find where the problem was and helped to get the problem corrected, as did the ISP. The problem was neither the ISP or the game servers, but they worked together to get it resolved for the customer.

EDIT: Also, politely remind the initial support people that just because it isn't their servers, that doesn't mean it is your ISP that is at fault. If needed, ask that it be escalated to a more senior Customer Service Representative or GM.

Whats really funny is that actually had the nerve to suggest that I try playing coh with another ISP. I'm thinking (Is this guy serious? Do you really want me to pay out the cash and subscribe to another isp just to test it out?)

I basically gave up hope with customer service and never posted another reply to the ticket after that suggestion from them.

You mean you don't have any friends you could go borrow a connection from to test?

Friends that live in my immediate area? no. I've only lived here 4 years and the rest of my friends are too far away to do an accurate test.

Not all of the Customer Service people with NCSoft are this daft. You may have gotten ahold of a fairly new CSR or one that, quite simply, isn't thinking really clearly. Many of the CSR's are more competent in different NCSoft games.

This would be another reason to ask, pollitely, that it be escalated to a Senior GM since the one you have isn't really assisting you in resolving the problem.

I wanted to post this in here as well as the east coast thread. I did update my ticket with another trace route and a ping plotter attached to it. I also I pointed them to the east coast thread. (where people all over North America are having issues)

Quote:
You're right. When this ticket was created, we hadn't yet found the commonality at the root of this particular latency issue. The problem here seems to be related to a routing issue on the return path from our east coast datacenter. As such, only the east coast servers are affected by this.

Our Network Engineering team has been investigating this in an effort to get it resolved as quickly as possible. By this point, we've gathered enough information from you to include in a compiled report (of other affected customers) as part of their investigation. We currently have no update on this yet but we're working to get this cleared up so that our customers can continue to play on the east coast servers without this problem.
