Or the Devs could do something not stupid and just make it a powerset.

I'll support it being its own AT only if a chorus of children shouts, "Hey! PISTOLERO!" every time you enter a zone.

Street Fighting/Brawling Set- I never thought this idea was very good for a powerset. Players just want the set because they want a punching version of Martial Arts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're getting the reasoning of most people who want this set wrong.

    <lots of good reasons cut>

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to mention, it works a lot better for 'yeah, I just started regenerating one day and decided to fight crime!' type characters a lot more than martial arts.

I think it would be ironic if our guns didn't shoot bullets, but instead squirted a healing salve that cured all wounds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you've got to let it charge up to get ubers off when your team needs to push past the turrets.

    Pssst!!!

Played 'as intended' so you fight both quarries, then the rock wall, then fight over 2 bridges (maybe all 3) to get a few ambrosia each. Then fight through the long tunnel to the mold wall (though most non-speed teams I have seen this portion is skipped). Then clear the final room and free the Heros, then finally the fight against the Titan, all alone. Well thats 1-2 hours worth of effort.

    [/ QUOTE ]

About the same for the Cap SF. It can take a couple of hours to run for a 'normal' team, but it's currently giving out 12 merits, a whole 36 minutes worth.
  5. Y'know how if you look at the map, like half of the city is outside the war walls?

Yeah, that's their HQ. All of it.

This kinda kills me. Dark has better -regen than rad. HT is 100% identical to LR, and TG has more on top.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except Howling Twilight's -regen has a 30 second duration on a 180 second recharge power, whereas LR's a 30 second duration on a 90 second recharge. Twilight Grasp looks like only -50% regen in PvE, too, which is, what, a -7.5% regen versus an even AV at level 50? (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I often suck at interpreting City of Data.) Although between you and Fluffy, it's probably possible to stack that sucker half a dozen deep if you really want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why does rad suddenly seem to be back on people's lists of what you absolutely super-duper must have to ever kill an AV ever ever? Did I miss something, or are people still stuck on the 'omg it's got the super best -regen!' thing, even though that's no longer true?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because every common notion of "we need x" or "x is the best at this" is wrong, mostly wrong, dead wrong, or "marginally right if you look at it like this and only this and ignore everything else". In short a significant amount of people are dumb.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, that's what I suspected. Just had to make sure my rad wasn't supremely buffed overnight without my knowledge.

Not only does it not have the best -regen, but AV regen isn't very high to begin with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's no longer unresistable or whatever was happening issues and issues ago when it was leagues better than every other -regen in the game... and it's been shown that -res and +dam are both pretty damn good at speeding up AV deaths too. It just seems like I've seen an odd amount of 'ZOMG WE CAN'T TAKE ON AN AV WITHOUT RAD!!!!' lately, making me wonder if I've been sent back in time.

  10. I'd love for some villain hazard zones. ... funny enough, most of my villains are good soloers who can handle big mobs, so I like fighting hazard zones on them, while most of my heroes are focused around team support, so I prefer to run arcs on them. And, of course, villainside has a single hazard zone and heroside has run-across-the-universe arcs. Maybe I'll just use Going Rogue to do a total AT transplant between the sides...

Fire - Although for the most part unchanged, it is using more Endurance than it used to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is basically my experience on my /fire dom. About the only big thing that's changed is that now I actually use Consume occasionally instead of just slotting it for +5% global recharge.

Started a new ice/psi, who's up to 16 now. She's rather end-hungry, but only comparably so to a normal brute or corruptor, and unlike most of my previous doms, she feels like she's doing enough damage to not be tedious to solo.
  13. Least Favorite- Master Illusionists. With the phasing and pile of pets, about the only thing I've found that works against them is brute force with enough defenses to survive the pets.

Favorite- Longbow. They've got enough debuffs, mezzes, and raw damage to be dangerous to most characters, without some of the frustrating tricks Arachnos likes to pull (Bosses with mezz protection, I am looking at you). After some of the annoying mobs v-side, the chance to just mow down dozens of goofy-looking guys with guns is usually refreshiing.

Love/Hate: Snipers. They get rid of one of the biggest assumptions that you usually operate on in CoH--that the players are going to get to set the pace of the fight and only attack mobs when they're ready. Depending on the team and character, this can be either disastrous or amazing fun. On the 'disastrous' end of things, I had a mission where my storm defender and a blaster were trying to save a hostage on an outdoor map... and the hostage had about six snipers in the groups around her, all of whom could see each other.
  14. I noticed this, myself. Duoing with a friend on Heroic, we were getting bosses mixed in with some of the normal spawns where we'd normally only be getting them at the end of the mission.

All one really needs to do to avoid the chat bug is have a look at his or her chat line before typing. If there is garbage text in it, hit escape and retry. You'll write over the garbage text at next chat activation. Not to say it's not a bug or not annoying, but it's hardly ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

For me, it's basically the difference between being able to type in combat and not being able to. Which is pretty big. I can type a sentence or two quickly... doing it twice or trying to remove three lines of '12439834275989889873wwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaa', not so much.

What i find hilarious is that there are lot lot players broadcasting to join all the Mayhem missions they skipped because of AE powerleveling on red side.

    [/ QUOTE ]

... or they just missed one mayhem or even played non-farm missions in AE. Heck, I've played multiple villains to 50 the good ol'-fashioned way, and I've never gotten Invader on the way up.

  18. Note that if you run AE missions, nothing drops purples.

edit: I don't think it can be done "cheaply." The lowest cost perma Dom build I have seen runs close to a billion infamy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Way high. My dom was at 45% or so recharge by the time she hit 50 just off the 100 million or so that dropped on the way there... another 100 million or so past it (plus some merits that she earned on the way up) got her perma'd. And this was with only a single power as an IO mule, no 'yeah, I slotted every power in /energy with knockback sets for extra recharge' stuff. It can be very set-dependent, though.

You think "all the travel" in this game is bad, take a look at other MMOs (to be fair the only other I've really looked at was WoW, which left me feeling me very "unWow'ed" - but I hear stories)

  21. OP, I did have similar problems in the 20s on my earth/ dom--without enough slots to spread between my AoE controls and my attack powers, I'd occasionally have to throw out multiple controls to keep larger groups of enemies from shredding me to pieces, especially when I couldn't kill a decent amount of the enemies before the controls wore off (granted, this should be far easier now that dom damage has been buffed). If that's the case, all I can really say is that it gets better. If you're just throwing them all out at the same time regardless, though, then this:

    [ QUOTE ]
You're overusing your controls. Alternate between Stalagmites and Earthquake for groups, keeping Volcanic Gasses in reserve. Note that critters don't need to be controlled 100% of the time for you to be doing your job. You do great work by negating alpha strikes and controlling spawns when they're at their worst--fully massed and all of them still alive.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also keep in mind that using Stalagmites + Volcanic Gasses on the same enemies at the same time is pretty pointless--either power alone should be able to lock down most of a spawn unless it has bosses in it, and they don't stack with each other. For bosses, you either want to drop Volcanic Gasses then stack it with Fossilize or drop Earthquake + Quicksand and then stack Fossilize while the boss flails around. If you're to the pet, then he can also do an admirable job of tanking a boss while you lock it down.

Unfortunately, some of this stuff really can't be learned too easily within the game itself (which I consider a pretty big problem, but whatever). Fortunately, most anything you need to know is on ParagonWiki... and the bits that aren't can usually be asked on the forums.

    Changing Origins

Happens to me a lot. I tend to pick powers first, concept second... occasionally, I revise the concept when I'm already at level 10. And I do agree with previous posters that I'd like to be able to have multiple origins, especially for things like, say, a MA/regen scrapper who is a martial artist who gained regeneration from experiments. Natural/Science.
