I was specifically addressing Sigium's "The lack of 'epic gear' is what keeps me playing THIS game." comment. I'm not seeing that many real differences between purples/high-end set IOs and epic gear. About the only difference is that there's no specific mob I have to beat up to have a chance at looting a purple.

My parents are going to be in town, so I'll probably be doing 'bonding' or some crap. Bah. Don't they understand that my scrapper is only a few double XP TFs from 50?!

Yeah. Or just take it a step further and let us pick villain group and objective every time. If you want nothing but Beat Up Freakshow Boss And His Crew paper missions, you can already get those over and over just by zoning if you want. May as well just let people pick.

Quote:Can we add 'Remove the three-arc limit'?
- Give us the listing of all currently available missions from the contact simultaneously.
- Allow for multiple missions to be claimed from the same contact
- Remove or raise the three-mission limit
- Give out the contact number either immediately or after the first completed mission

Quote:I'm with you there. I can see exclamations that are prone to slipping out almost instinctively being in the person's native tongue, but otherwise, it annoys me. When I'm speaking another language, I've never just sort of 'accidentally' used English greetings, and the only time I've ever seen non-native speakers do that when speaking English was, you know, language teachers who are doing their damndest to grind bits and pieces of the language into my skull. The random foreign word method has always horribly grated on me. Hard stuff in your native language when there's a chance somebody will get it and you can express yourself better that way? Sure. Six sentences in English and then 'goodbye!' in another language... not so much.All I can say to that is... oh god, please don't.
Yes, I know, Poirot Speak is incredibly ubiquitous in roleplaying foreign charactrs but... the only thing it truly achieves is to make you sound foolish to the native speakers. As one of the posters above aptly pointed out, it works so long as you do not encounter someone who is a more fluent speaker than you.
Wouldn't it seem odd to you if you were to encounter someone speaking like that in reality? The inability to actually converse in the language you are attempting to, ah, mutilate, tends to create the uncanny paradox of having a character sound at least moderately educated in English, yet a complete buffoon in their native tongue. Or worse yet, a complete buffoon in both. One should think that a person who can say "antidisestablishmentariansm" and know what it means would have long learned the words for "yes" and "good evening".
(The one exception being when both people in a conversation are moderately fluent in the other's language, since they end up using a hideous hodge-podge of the two languages to express themselves. It is the awesomest thing ever.) -
I like doing this, except for one level range in the 20s-30s where Equalizers and Ghosts spawn. That's just asking for a death no matter what you are.

Tagging some new Dev's Choices could be a start, too... Any time I go look at that list and see the exact same options that were there months ago, it kind of kills my enthusiasm.

60 months.
I don't stick with characters much past 50, so...
Storm/Elec Defender
Katana/Dark Scrapper
Dark/Elec Defender
Stone/EA Brute
Storm/Archery Defender
Thugs/Poison MM
Cold/Ice Defender
Rad/Rad/Defender
Earth/Fire Dom
Dark/Elec Brute
As you can notice, I like Defenders and don't care much for playing direct damage.

I have a corruptor that could work for a VG, if I can just convince myself to go back to her after tasting the deliciousness that is defender traps/.

Quote:Until they encounter their ancient enemy, ramps in warehouses.These hero suggestions are nice and all, but if you really want the best team for pwning everything the game can throw at you, you want to play CoV instead. Make a team of four Masterminds. Your powersets don't even really matter, although I'd recommend /bots and /thugs for maximum carnage. But really, any four MMs will steamroll through everything.

I've wished we had something like this forever, but I also know there are very good reasons to not do it. For one, most of my blasters would have inherent resistance to their own damage type, since it seems a bit goofy for somebody with enough control over ice/fire/energy/whatever to cause minor apocalypses with it to still take full damage from it. ("Now suffer the full wrath of my Inferno, evildoers! You shall--AAAGH! FIRE! AND IT'S HOT! GET IT AWAY GET IT AWAY GETITAWAYGETITAWAY!")
Erica Strauss (MA/Regen Scrapper)- Should have good resistance to psionic damage thanks to having an alien symbiote piggybacking on her brain, but huge weakness to fire cauterizing her wounds so she can't regenerate.
Silead the Lament (Claws/Ninja Stalker)- Like +20% defense and -50% resistance. One good punch is supposed to hurt enough to send her into shock, so she's made sure she's damn good at dodging. Of course, if I really cared to, I could probably soft-cap her with IOs without the weakness.
Sorrow-Weave (Dark/Electric Brute)- A -speed/recharge penalty on damaging powers and bonus Fury generation, weakness to psionic damage and psionics-based mezzes. She's a messed-up psychic and not very good at controlling it, so she feels the opposite emotions of what people around her are... which both makes her weak to psionics and really like hurting people in creative ways.
Jessica Reid (Thugs/Poison MM)- Gets her thugs by slipping them heavy-duty brainwashing poison, so she can have about as many thugs as she can find people on Mercy Island willing to inject themselves with strange drugs (+recharge on Gang War), but she has practically zero education (cannot craft). -
I have all that, plus I RP sometimes.
Hah! I win!
Well, okay, I don't PvP much since the changes, but I don't fault people for enjoying it, either. -
Quote:This is about the one thing I can confirm--bosses started spawning rather commonly when solo on some settings in i15. It's a huge annoyance for my Dominator, since Arachnos bosses laugh at my pitiful attempts to hold them while hitting me with smoke grenades and psychic attacks from across the room.I did a little inquiring yesterday when I noticed an overabundant amount of 2-boss spawns when set to x4, and apparently that has been happening before i16 - it was quite noticeable when you ran in pairs. I suppose that what you're seeing happened before i16 too, just never noticed until now
I have noticed that there aren't really any settings that seem to exactly correspond to old difficulty settings. My characters who are set to the apparent analogs to their old difficulty settings usually find them a bit harder. -
Quote:Any combination of 4 defenders, controllers or corruptors. Four defenders that skip the fitness pool in favor of the leadership pool are going to steamroll through the content.
Probably this. The approximate scaling of all-defender groups is:
1 = 1
2 = 3
3 = 5
>3 = OVER 9000.
If they're all /Sonics, square the results.
Going this route, I'd probably try to get the whole team soft-capped, with the possible exclusion of one member, then add +damage/+recharge and debuffs as preferred. Cold/, Traps/, Kinetics/, Rad/, maybe, with Maneuvers as needed to hit the soft-cap on everybody but the Cold/. I think between the two +defense characters, that should be doable. Don't have the numbers at the moment. -

Quote:Heck, I've been leading teams of 8 basically every night for the past week, except on several nights where I got invited to PUGs before I could even start asking. Teaming's the most active I've seen for quite a while, and when forming teams, the ability to ask higher-level people to exemp down and often have them accept is huge.Jerry - dunno what to tell you. Since I16 came out, with supersidekick, I have been invited to PUGs pretty much as soon as I put up an lft on my team tab, or broadcast it. The changes to reputation/difficulty DO seem to be working in that I no longer get asked to fill, not once since release. But filling was not a social occasion.

I guess that's not too horrible for a weekday morning. I was thinking he meant more prime time.

More color control altogether. It's always annoyed me that you can't get a very good neon orange color from the creator. RGB would be awesome. Add a separate Opacity slider for auras and stuff and I'm in heaven.

Had a team the other day insist we needed a healer and tank... we had enough defense buffs to soft cap us about twice over, plus control and assorted debuffs.
Fortunately, I was leading and they shut up after I let the blaster take a few alpha strikes and survive.
