Added restrictions to prevent player difficulty from affecting Task / Strike Forces

No scaling up. Yay. Stupid devs are stupid.

None of you are mad that they decided to take away the ability to fight +2/+3s in SFs and in Ouro?

Was checking the patch notes thread on Test Server to make sure it's actually what it sounds like... and yeah, looks like somebody confirmed this.

It's not as big a tragedy as it could be, since convincing PUGs to even fight a single unnecessary enemy on TFs is usually like pulling teeth, let alone making the enemies (gasp) take effort, but I still can't see any good reason for it. Get rid of the -1 TFs and leave those who want higher difficulties in peace.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

In my TFs, I get people to run it at at least +1 setting and we fight many "unnecessary" mobs for fun. Well, they won't be fun now. Most teams do NOT complain about a higher difficulty, in fact most SF teams on virtue want it ABOVE the default.

Then use the Task Force difficulty options?

They will still be +0/+1s and won't give more exp and inf.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

In other words, you don't want more challenge you want more reward. This change is to prevent people from farming them on -1 difficulty, which'd seriously screw over the merit rewards.

Yes. But is it a slap in the face?

Eh....exp and inf rain down like manna from heaven as it is. TFs are for the lewtz!

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

They could just disable the -1 difficulty setting. I"m there for the challenge too. Purple patch, ever heard of it and what it does?

You're assuming that'd be an easy change. This is likely just a temporary solution to prevent abuse.

You say you wanted challenge, I tell you how to get challenge and you cry about the rewards. That leaves one to conclude you're not interesting in the challenge but the rewards associated with the challenge.

SF difficulty options don't do the same thing. YOur logic is false. Go away.

You claimed you wanted a challenge, and when presented with a means to increase the challenge, you said you wanted the reward. It's fairly obvious you're using the challenge as an excuse for the reward.

Most players, especially those seeking a challenge, would like a reward akin to their effort. This is not unreasonable.

Looks sideways with aggravation at current MA custom critters.

One day we'll clear out all these people seeking rewards for their efforts.
Of that I'm certain.

Fixt.

Well, right now, if you're solo (i.e., for the Ouroboros task forces), you don't even get bosses -- they get downgraded to lieutenants, want it or not. Upgrading foes only does so much when they don't have the hit points to live long enough to use their enhanced abilities.

I can't help but think that this change was more of a quickfix and not fully thought through.

This change is to prevent the forced-nerf of the rewards from the Task Forces from runs at -1 difficulty. This is most likely a temporary solution until.

We need less hissy fits.

They did NOT say it was temporary.

They did not say it was permanent. It was obvious the reason for this change, and from that it's fairly safe to conclude that this isn't really the optimum change, but one needed to prevent the KHX syndrome.

Doesn't really bother me. I run TFs/SFs for the badges and merits. Rarely do I run one higher than Heroic/Villainous.

However, I don't understand the limitations and do not agree with it overall. It would be nice to get some clarification.

I think this has more to do with the -1 setting. When you ran STF at -1 all of the AVs in the last mission appeared as level 49. The new build on test makes them stay as level 54 AVs regardless of your difficulty setting.
