Having her perform these sudden bursts of speed when her response to attacks is almost always to just take it on the chin is not in-character.

Bizarrely enough, I'd sooner write magic into the character and explain that than try to make Xanta fast. With magic, I can fudge it and spin it, but I'd still have the slow, immovable brick I wanted to make. With speed... That's just a different character.
Well IIRC pyro looks like a punching move which shoots a fireball that burns the floor and create a magma for a few seconds. With a few tweak you can make it look like a rock thrown maybe your girl "punched" a rock and it hit the bad guys (or good guys depending on your side)

Other than this vorpal is closest I can think off. Vorpal looks like a kick that you teleported and kicked everyone in the area (or moved really really fast) but its teleportation is too vague and if you have a shiny aura it stays in the place.

Otherwise my point stands I want an incarnate power which is not a clickie (or half-***** of a toggle)

  4. For ATO's it usually depends on what AT and powersets you are playing. There is two ATO versions orange ones can be bought from AH or from various merit vendors found in the game as well as they have a chance to drop from super packs that you can buy from paragon store or with reward merits as a tier 9 repeatable (I think they made it tier 9 VIP repeatable with last update)

To get purple ones you need catalysts, you can get catalysts from merit vendors or have them drop at incarnate content (Dark Astoria and itirals) and orange version of ATO, you upgrade orange to purple which makes it account-bound and can't be tradable by any means (you can only send it to yourself via email)

Orange ones are not that great but they are usable. You can slot them at a lower level and they increase efficiency with level so a good choice for a level 10 and helps leveling. Once you are 50 you can convert your ATO's to purple ones for better bonuses and set bonuses. Also by using enhacement converters you can get an ATO that fits to your AT with a little luck.

For melee AT's they are almost like a god send since each gives recharge bonus, certain defense bonuses and damage bonus as global set bonuses in addition to a few good others like max hp regen etc. Also among procs most useful ones are at melee AT's so even if you don't plan to get full sets you should at least consider getting ATO proc.

For other AT's I don't really know much but it seems neither bonuses nor procs make that much differences.
  5. IIRC You can resize them but their minimum window size is larger than normal ones so they wont change much.

    2) Doesn't need to be inescapable. Noboday has to fight giant octopuses or burning buildings either. I'm simply saying it would have been nice to have some options that were available out there. Have villains actually trigger events that set off alarms for heroes to react to. I'm not a fan of high level Pvp zones, but I would love to see missions that were set up to encourage PPV encounters within the city for those players who are interested. Doesn't even need to be a fight. Have actions by villains affect heroes and open events, and vice versa.

    3) I realize PvP was a complete afterthought, and balance has never been there. Doesn't mean I'm just accepting of it. I'm very disappointed in this part of the implementation of the game, even as someone who just started.
Well for your first point. When CoV was released it was a seperate game not just an expansion pack. You could buy it and play stand-alone. From that point it would be meaningless to spend resources to make game more interactive with each other than a couple of zones and arenas.

For second part you need people presented to start that kind of play and in no way in any MMO there is a way to write a code that a player triggers an event that otherside can join in later. Only sandbox MMO's can do that but in those it is usually not a game predefined mission or event happens that way just player scheduled raids to another faction tops.

Closest thing I have seen so far in any MMO that what you want was in the RF online when at each 8 hour there was a faction vs faction vs faction (there was three faction I am not sure if that game is still around I remember it went to freetoplay) event take place to capture the main mine field and that was all.

I had all 8 hybrid T4's and I was changing between them alot to see different effects once a new update come to beta and only problem I had with them is if you equip from same tree passive bonus would be lost. I didn't see stacking passive bonuses bug on beta at all and they make a fix for the bug I reported this stacking issue begin after that fix.

At first I thought it might be a bug because of me equipping T2 and T3 during the same play session, but even after logging off i still keep the T1, T2 and T3 damage bonusses.

Is this working as intended, or is it a bug, and should i only be given the T3 passive +7.5% bonus?
I saw something similiar to this earlier today. I changed from radial assault to core assault and I had passive boost as double stack but when I opened combat attribute and check numbers see only one was effecting me. My suggestion is open your combat log and check numbers to see if you are really getting all three boost.

    Lets see for my kat/SR scrapper;

Before I could afford them my build didn't had any purple or PvP IO and its structure was quiet different as well as its power selection and slotting.

After I could afford two purple set (hecatomb and armageddon) by collecting more than half through gameplay and getting others from a friend that leave the game for good. My build changed but not too much drastically.

Later I manage to get a gladiator -res proc and once again my build changed once again to put it in GD.

When I got into incarnate content my build didn't changed at all but I know a couple of friends changed their builds based on alpha and destiny.

When we got enhancement boosters however my build went a big overhaul. I removed maneuvre completely from my build removed most of red fortunes in my SR powers and replaced them with three LoTG's and put CJ to save a couple more slots, put more slot on health and tough and removed a slot from hasten and still keep it 3 second away from perma.

When ATO and catalyst came in my second big overhaul happened, I removed CJ as well and had enough inf at this point to get a shield wall+res and glad armor +def, with addition of these my build moved away from focusing on getting enough defense from sets and even slotting for enough defense on powers it actually become a race to not get overboarded. I always aimed normal defense cap because I can survive in incarnate content with less problem thanks to judgement, lore and destiny and it only matter in solo content of DA since while in a team I had more than enough def for itrials and I always keep recharge at the same level to let me use almost perma hasten so my focus moved on health, damage and edurance in respective order.

On beta I was lucky to get my hands on 2nd ATO's and I can say that another big overhaul will be coming on my way when they are released.

So yes I made lots of changes on my character based on what is released and from bonuses of this I will probably get it up to 5 and slot it. I amnot sure if I will overhaul the build though from what I see this has similiar bonuses of 2nd ATO I am planing to put so I may use this as a base.

But SR is still better if you wanna skip defense power from TW. Only time TW, BS and katana may add to an SR on defense wise maybe when leveling and that is all. Ofcourse it is debatable if SR is really better as a set or not but that is entirely different argument.
  11. Well for hybrid saying it was changed in beta based on player feedback is not false but almost everyone suggested a lower endurance cost instead of high one to equalise the builds. It was devs decisions to make it halfbaked first but becuase of huge criticism they decided to add passive boost which somewhat diminshed but not eliminated negative feedback.

I guess after that point devs decided to see what will happen in live rather than make another change to hybrid since i23 launch getting close. So we got ourself halfbaked incarnate power while devs decided to put what everyone expecting as hybrid in the form of amplifiers in the beta paragon market.

Frankly speaking I won't bother with hybrid other than my main which already opened and slotted with a T4, I will just wait for amplifiers and hope that they can be purchased by reward tokens and hope genesis won't be a failure like hybrid (fat chance)

On a comparision assault tree's are worse than muscularate alpha's by a long shot and assault maybe the best choice unless you have pets. Melee is too situational and in anycase you need it you can use rebirth or barrier destiny and get much better result, control is too restricting and support is meh unless you have pets and only using them and it is still situational and having leadership pool is much better choice.

    Incarnate slots != Level.
    Level Shifts = Level.

I'd rather have a T3/T4 Lore slot unused with nothing in Judgement than the other way around. Same goes for Destiny/Interface. I'd rather have a T3/T4 in either Lore or Destiny than build anything in the hybrid slot, and that would apply if I was actually prevented from using the Lore or Destiny powers.

Level shifts mean more than the buffs/powers themselves. If the development team hasn't figured this out by now, I have to wonder what it would take to get the developers to see what is in front of them.

    Edit:
Let me be clear, if Alpha, Lore, and Destiny only granted a level shift and not anything else, I'd still value them over Judgement, Interface, and Hybrid.
Well I am on the other boat actually. If there was no level shift integrated to those three I wouldn't get lore at all. I would go T4 with Alpha and interface first than I would got judgement I wouldn't touch destiny until I had enough to make it a T4 for perma bonus and wouldn't touch to lore at all and directly jump to hybrid for more passive bonus though admitedly after judgement I would take my time with destiny and hybrid. However this is only because I only have 4 50 characters, 2 scrapper, 1 WS and 1 MM only time I would get destiny and lore after alpha and interface would be on my MM which I don't play much and only got to 50 to unlock VEATs.

On the topic: I think Omega slot will grant two level shift one normal and one incarnate (probably one at T3 and both at T4 and again probably T3 ones will be divided into two, one set giving only incarnate level shift with better bonuses while other giving normal level shift with less) which will bring total to 50+5 for incarnate and 50+2 for normal content. Also I think after omega slot we will see a PvP haul. After handling all problems players will start hunting other incarnates to increase their own power to ascend (wishful thinking doesn't kill :P)
  13. I had an overheat problem like this. However the one I had was shutting off in some other games and there was only one game I could play. What is your graphic card? Even if your cardis a good one who was provider (for example asus, zotec etc) some providers make test suitcases (cough like asus for geforce9800 gtx or previous geforce580 gtx ones) for some cards and they are not good at handling overheating (I learned this hard way)

My solution was opening side panel of m computer putting a regular fan next to it and setting it at high speed. You can't believe the performance increase I got. Not only shutting off stopped games started to play way more smoother and faster but that was only a temporary solution for summer.

I know that astral merits can be turned into shards but soloing is making for a VERY long and tedious process. So how about increasing the incarnate shard drop rate a little bit?

Below is from the Paragon Wiki,

As of the April 5th, 2011 patch, any non-gray enemy can have a chance to drop Incarnate Shards; the drop rate has not been stated officially, but based on over fourteen thousand defeats, an approximate number is available:
    Defeats;......... Drops;.......... Rank;......... Drop Rate;............ Assumed Rate;
    9203,................ 9,............. Minion,........ 1 in 1023,............... 1 in 1000,

    4435,................ 29,.......... Lieutenant,....... 1 in 153,.............. 1 in 150,

    868.................., 16,.............. Boss, ...........1 in 55,.................... 1 in 50,

    845,................. 62,.... Hamidon Mitochondria, 1 in 13.6,
I heard that there is a plan to remove shards completly but I don't know details or reliability of the source.

You need super speed, flight, teleport etc kind of travel power or stealth to lose npc's Sprint+ninja run works too but sprint alone only works if the map is a maze or indoor one. Usualy thing I do is first running backward and making NPC follow me for a while if there is still enemy left in front than suddenly turning back and passing NPC as far as possible most of the time their AI can't resume following.
  16. Current hybrid as Arbiter Hawk described in his thread.

I am not actually an altist I play with a couple of toons and all of them already slotted with various incarnates at T4 and had alternatives for different scnerios. I got bored from playing them at the moment and only thing that make me keeping my subscription was the hybrid slot. It turned out to be such a letdown in the patch that I may unsubscrie when i23 goes live and will play as a premium with my low levels instead I am alreadt Tier 9 anyway and I think I can keep most of my toons since incarnate content won't be appealing anymore for me there is no need to keep a subscription either.

Once they're removed, VIPs can use converters to switch them to other sets for their other characters. Unfortunately, Converters ARE VIP-only, so conversion isn't an option for Premiums.

Incarnate content is VIP only. To my knowledge, the only way for non VIP to get catalysts is from super packs. It really sucks though. Out of about 500-600 super packs (I lost count) I opened I received less than 60 catalysts. Not quite enough for 10 characters and I have 30 character slots. And sometimes I open about 15-20 super packs or possibly more before I finally get another catalyst, though I have gotten 2-3 in a row. The drop rate is ridiculously low. I can buy the $100 paragon point bundle and use the 8 tokens to get 40 free super packs and get only 1-2 catalysts from them.

Judging by the rate I get catalysts from super packs, I would probably have to open another 1,000+ super packs to get enough for all my characters.

P.S. Catalysts are character bound and can't be mailed to yourself to use on other characters. Players have been complaining about this since the day catalysts came out. VIP players often times end up with more than enough catalysts on a single character and are completely stuck with the rest. Some player's answer to this is something like "well there are new ATO sets on beta so your catalysts will be useful eventually". Problem is, even if there is a new ATO set for each archetype, it will eventually be the same situation: stuck with extras you can't use on other characters. Which means you would have to do incarnate content on every single character you need catalysts for.
There is a workaround for having more than 6 catalyst on a toon albeit it is a headache and can only work in certain situations. You can use catalyst on a set you slotted than unslot that set and send it to yourself via email. Problem with this it needs unslotter and can only be used on same AT.
  19. For your question. At anything at minion or liteunant level you don't see much difference. On boss level and higher Degen is better at the moment becuase of its effect not only works similiar to -res but it also does -regen and itd DoT is second best.
  20. I did this with my T4 kat/SR scrapper. I specifically took elude for DA content since I don't want to eat a purple in every minute. I did this as +4x8 but I was alreadt +3 shifted at this point. No helper.

It took me around 10 minutes to kill all cylops and minotaurs and around 16 minute to finish whole thing. I had barrier destiny so when elude blinks i was using conserve power than barrier, pop up a blue and retoggle. I think end fight was relatively easy since after a certain point everyone was running away and jumping down making it easier to solo them and ironic enough it was always cyclops left at the end.

I tried doing this with helpers but at +4x8's they die at the second or third mob not even reaching to monsters.
  21. There is (or should I say was) a few reasons to go a PvP zone for PvE reasons. To get shivan, to get nuke, to get badges etc. Most of the craftable temp powers and incarnate stuff made shivans and nukes unnecessary and badges are only a handful of peoples aim with one or two chacters in their accounts.

i13 sapped out so much of the fun, so much of the skill, so much of the diversity, the strategy, and the intenseness of matches. Not to mention that you could actually make pvp toons with pvp builds that would actually semi-function in pve also, now? Now it's just a mess, if you try pvping with a pve build or vice versa, it will fail, this also really hurt the ability for new pvpers to really get into pvp.

The mess they made of pvp with i13 was compounded by the fact that the developers at that time refused to take player input, refused to make changes, refused to revert to the old system, and overall refused to admit that they made a mistake.
I remember strategy being means that a hidden flying stalker getting tp close AS and tp out to a random direction. Still I can't deny it was fun in RV and Sirens Call, I even remember the europe PvP event in Sirens Call it was the first time I learned about zones had a player limit and on defiant a zone reached to 4 instance for once.

Brutes will always start lower and have the potential to end higher; whereas, scrap typically have higher damage outright and more predictable performance - that's our boon. My guess is we think that they (brutes) do more damage because our methods of testing them (Pylon) offers a steady environment allowing them to steadily build fury, then we just add on the 775% potential as an after thought. This may or may not reflect any one teams experience. Now on Itrials, I would give the edge in all areas to Brutes because they are just buff sponges - their limits are vast both in damage and mitigation. I'm *definately* not known for making good conclusions, however. Not on these forums anyway.
Your factors a little off. Scrapper base damage modifier is 1.125 not 1.25 if you take critical into account it is %10 for almost anything other than minions so it becomes 1,2375 however if you factor ATO's critical chance increase it becomes %16 for most things and it becomes 1.305.

At damage cap a power with a base of 100 damage does 620 damage with a brute and 562.5 damage with scrapper without critical. With normal critical it does 618.75 damage and with ATO it does 652.5 damage. Also most tier 9 primary powers in scrapper set has a flat %15 critical chance if you factor them without ATO brute and scrappers are very close at damage cap.

It won't be directly double the number of that damage. Scrapper set critical strike says 3.5 damage but supeior scrapper strike only give %4 damage. My best bet is it is same for SoA one and it will give %3 or %4 damage tops for purple set.

EDIT: Just checked superior spiders bite it gives %4 damage bonus.
