Can Enhancements Catalysts drop to non-VIP players?

Done a search, couldn't find a word on that. Freebies can get to DA, but considering specific drops can be tied to VIP, I was wondering.

I don't know for sure but I don't see why not... freebies can buy super packs which give catalysts and ATO's which they can use... I can't imagine any reason not to let them get catalysts from drops.

Well, they only drop in Incarnate content, so the only place a non-VIP could get them is street-sweeping in DA - They can't get into missions or trials that drop them.

I thought I read that they were a VIP only drop, but I may have confused them with Converters, which definitely ARE VIP-only.

"Catalysts are obtained from Super Packs, and also as rare drops during Incarnate content."

Incarnate content is VIP only. To my knowledge, the only way for non VIP to get catalysts is from super packs. It really sucks though. Out of about 500-600 super packs (I lost count) I opened I received less than 60 catalysts. Not quite enough for 10 characters and I have 30 character slots. And sometimes I open about 15-20 super packs or possibly more before I finally get another catalyst, though I have gotten 2-3 in a row. The drop rate is ridiculously low. I can buy the $100 paragon point bundle and use the 8 tokens to get 40 free super packs and get only 1-2 catalysts from them.

Judging by the rate I get catalysts from super packs, I would probably have to open another 1,000+ super packs to get enough for all my characters.

P.S. Catalysts are character bound and can't be mailed to yourself to use on other characters. Players have been complaining about this since the day catalysts came out. VIP players often times end up with more than enough catalysts on a single character and are completely stuck with the rest. Some player's answer to this is something like "well there are new ATO sets on beta so your catalysts will be useful eventually". Problem is, even if there is a new ATO set for each archetype, it will eventually be the same situation: stuck with extras you can't use on other characters. Which means you would have to do incarnate content on every single character you need catalysts for.

As I said above, Dark Astoria is Incarnate Content, and is open to everyone. The missions are VIP only, but anyone can go in and fight the Incarnate Foes there, even a level 1 on a completely free account. Catalysts DO drop off the enemies there, though I'm not sure if they'll drop for non-VIPs. You'd have to kill a LOT before you could safely hazard a guess.

There is a workaround for having more than 6 catalyst on a toon albeit it is a headache and can only work in certain situations. You can use catalyst on a set you slotted than unslot that set and send it to yourself via email. Problem with this it needs unslotter and can only be used on same AT.

You don't need an unslotter, you can also use a respec, which many Vets have an excess of. You could even switch to an alt build and slot new ATOs there, catalyze them, and then unslot or respec them out. Once they're removed, VIPs can use converters to switch them to other sets for their other characters. Unfortunately, Converters ARE VIP-only, so conversion isn't an option for Premiums.

I meant it as a non-vip method but true there is also conversion method.

This is because currently there is no way to set salvage as "Account bound" - it's either Character bound or not bound at all.

Are you certain of this? Store bought enhancements can be account bound and mailed between different characters on the same account.

SBEs are Enhancements, not Special Salvage. What makes Special Salvage so special is that it has the baked in (i.e., coded) characteristic of being character bound. Look at all the other items in your Special Salvage tab.

So, to change that, programming coding needs to happen.

This is all Dev-confirmed info.

They don't need new code, they just need a new vendor. Standing right next to Empyrean Michael, takes Catalysts as payment, returns emailed Character Item voucher for Catalysts. The emailed catalysts already exist, the "takes special salvage as currency" already exists, and I remember redname comments surrounding Null the Gull that adding an NPC to do some weird thing is easier than UI work or code.

I spent about 90mins street sweeping in the 51+ areas on my fire/dark corr on my premium account and got no catalysts. I have not been VIP since they were introduced so I don't know their drop rates but I highly doubt that they drop for anyone but VIPs.

For perspective I have gotten two purples to drop in the month and a half of playing as a freemium and I am far enough into the awards program that I have permanent IO/market access and have ATOs on most of my characters now.

So, I'll just go into the game and tell Michael to start doing that.

No code needed at all!
