Seriously? Every power needs to be rebalanced to suit you? Get real.

P.S. My illusion controller kicks butt.

I would think you'd want to install all the apps you use even moderately often. For example, I have CoH on my SSD, but the test and beta installs on a conventional HD. I've got Office on there, Photoshop, my browser, anti-virus, etc, etc. I'm using 47GB currently so 60 would have been cutting it close. I went with 128.

6-8 core CPU sounds like overkill. Four cores with hyperthreading is a pretty epic amount of processing power.

Might want to go more than 8GB of RAM. Maybe. I have 8 and I can run 2 instances of CoH and a horrendous load of junk in the background (like 8 instances of SETI@home) without getting anywhere near 8. (Running two instances now, plus Excel, browser, IM, Skype, 8 SETI@home, anti-virus, anti-malware and a few utilities and I'm using 4.14GB.) More RAM can't hurt - especially if it happens to be cheap when you're ready to buy.

BTW, everything newchemicals said sounds good. If I were to take exception to any of it, I would include the motherboard as one of the key components, rather than a "detail". I really like Asus and Gigabyte. For power supplies, my last 3 builds used Antec. (My current case is an Antec 900.)

Actually, we do have one small piece of information. We know we'll be getting more level shifts.

Then we can close all the gates and still have enough for the extra Astral. I kinda thought that was standard operating procedure everywhere -- are there some servers that run it differently?
Since it's hard enough to actually get all 10 acids used, we (Infinity) usually just assume that a couple will 'go missing' and plan accordingly. We use the acids immediately but leave two doors and never bother closing them.

It's possible and does not require microsecond timing. Nothing involving communication over the internet can be that precise. The same kind of communication 'sloppiness' that allows you to stack Vengeance allows two grenades to be used. It's definitely not a COMMON occurrence, but I have seen it.

The reason for his snarkiness is that this is posted in the INFINITY SERVER section. I'll speculate that you missed that - since you asked what server in the first place.

<shrug> You're also getting a bunch of free sets. By making some of the sets a purchase for everyone, they have more development funds and are bringing out powersets more often than they used to.

Yep. Those are all paid sets for everyone. Of course, now we're getting a hell of a lot more powersets than we used to.

I messed around for a second as a Free player before reactivating to see that my Street Fighting character was accessible, but my Time Manipulation character was not.
Right. Street Justice was a paid set for everyone, so it's permanently unlocked. Time Manipulation is free to VIP's. Since you had it while VIP, it's not unlocked as a 'Freemium'. Now that you're VIP again, it's unlocked (for the month).

    Quote:
SO, first and foremost, could someone tell me what exactly the benefits for VIP are these days?
Lots of stuff. Details here on Paragonwiki.

    Quote:
I know some sort of Darkness Control was introduced - Can I access that as a VIP, or do I have to buy that as well?
    Free for VIP's.

Secondly, I'm back! For a month. Like I said, been about 6 months - What have I missed?
um... stuffz? I'm terrible with dates so couldn't say what happened 6 months ago and not 8 months or 4. Check the Issues page on Paragonwiki.

If I want conversation, I can pick up the phone. I play to kill stuff to get stuff so I can kill stuff more easily.
Ah! So the playstyle you encountered didn't mesh with YOUR playstyle. Not everyone is focused on kill, kill, kill, XP, XP, XP. I guess they were focused on getting a different 'job' done.

You keep harping on Taskmaster Gabriel. I don't think you understand how he works. He doesn't lock you into ANYTHING. He doesn't offer any missions of his own. All he does is track what DA arcs you have completed. You can do one arc, then go off for a week and do ten task forces, then come back and do the next arc. Or you can do the arcs out of order. Gabriel doesn't restrict you in any way.

Sure, after the first run of an arc, you have to do it through Ouroboros - just like every other story arc in the game.

And, based on that restriction, the name change really should only be PURCHASABLE by the person with the red star. This would mean the system has to interact with both the store and the SG roster. That sounds difficult.

Yeah, like the part about players on Infinity being incompetent. You couldn't comment about which server you picked without trash-talking other servers?

There is nothing unsafe about copying an existing install.
Also, the CoH directory is 4 GB. That is a horrific download for anyone with sub-par internet access.

I will answer that two ways:
    1) This is just my impression, but I suspect we have more people that would want quivers than want a mini volcano on their backs, yet we have the caldera back item.
    2) Why spend the resources? MONEY! There are a boatload of archery based characters out there. I would sure as hell buy a quiver for mine.

Seriously then they go and pull the no staff fighting till now but force feed us all these fake companion pets that do nothing and IOs that can be easily gotten in game and you guys try to say you do not want to be perceived as trying to get our money. Dont make me laugh. All I can say is the next time something big like this is announced or worked on DO NOT make us wait an excessive amount of time on it.
Suck it up. They explained that they wanted to space out the intervals between powersets. Expect future sets to be handled exactly the same way.
