Been away for a while...

And just reactivated VIP so I could play with the new power sets only to find that:

Titan Weapons didn't unlock.
Staff Fighting didn't unlock.
Beast Mastery didn't unlock.

So what did unlock? And what's the point of going VIP?

I was last active about half a year ago, right after Street Fighting and Time Manipulation were introduced. I messed around for a second as a Free player before reactivating to see that my Street Fighting character was accessible, but my Time Manipulation character was not.

SO, first and foremost, could someone tell me what exactly the benefits for VIP are these days? I know some sort of Darkness Control was introduced - Can I access that as a VIP, or do I have to buy that as well?

Secondly, I'm back! For a month. Like I said, been about 6 months - What have I missed?

I just spent $15 to reactivate the account, and the sets I really wanted to try (Titan Weapons and Staff Fighting) are still locked. They cost 800 tokens - How much is that in real money again?

Any answers and help reacclimating is appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

800 points is $10, but you'll also gain 400 points from your month of VIP.

Great, thanks. I now have enough to buy one of them.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of Titan Weapons Vs. Staff Fighting? Which is considered better so far? And Scrapper, Brute, or Tanker?

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

my standard advice: pick the one you think looks like the most fun.

Is there a way to look at the power list or see a video of the set in action (outside of going to youtube, I mean in-game) before purchasing?

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

You could purchase the sets on the beta or test servers (everything there costs 0 points) and look. Mids has both sets now, which can show you the powers but not the animations. There's no way to do it from within character creation though, sadly.

I have not yet played Staff, but I have played Titan Weapons, and it's awesome, but some people find the Momentum mechanic annoying, so YMMV.

Using the power customization option screen during character creation should show you the different animations for each power.

Only after you buy the set. You also have to buy costume pieces before you can see them on that screen as well.

(going to beta can get around both of those, though)

I also stopped playing shortly after Street Justice, and recently came back!

I've been playing the first collection of Signature Story Arcs now that parts 1 through 7 are out. You can access them in your Contacts (the SSA manager is a contact on the list below the scanner/newspaper but above normal contacts) and it'll let you start it from anywhere if you meet the minimum level (20 for the first one or two, 30 for the next few, 40 for the last few).

Night Ward is going to be a follow-up to First Ward in the 30-40(?) range, in Issue 23 so I don't know much about it.

VIP also gives you access to Incarnate content for your 50s.

Dark Astoria has been revamped as an Incarnate co-op zone. (Get there from Peregrine Island or Grandville.)

There's been 3 new Incarnate trials since we left, too. And the one against Tyrant should be in Issue 23 if I'm not mistaken.

Those were the big draws, for me.

Yep. Those are all paid sets for everyone. Of course, now we're getting a hell of a lot more powersets than we used to.

Right. Street Justice was a paid set for everyone, so it's permanently unlocked. Time Manipulation is free to VIP's. Since you had it while VIP, it's not unlocked as a 'Freemium'. Now that you're VIP again, it's unlocked (for the month).

Lots of stuff. Details here on Paragonwiki.

Free for VIP's.

um... stuffz? I'm terrible with dates so couldn't say what happened 6 months ago and not 8 months or 4. Check the Issues page on Paragonwiki.

<shrug> You're also getting a bunch of free sets. By making some of the sets a purchase for everyone, they have more development funds and are bringing out powersets more often than they used to.

You can see costume pieces before you buy them. They have a little lock symbol on them and a store symbol on them that you can click and takes you to the PMarket to buy that piece. (Obviously you cannot create a new character or update a current character's costume with pieces that are locked.)

NOTE: A lot of costume pieces are MUCH CHEAPER if you buy them in a bundle, so look at the bundle before buying piecemeal. Check the wiki for parts lists. http://paragonwiki.com

Sorry, should have been clearer about that. You can only see the costume pieces on the power customization screen if you've already bought the costume piece. You can of course see them on the costume screen.

Power animations start at 1 minute.

Titan Weapons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmmeswm4Nkw

Note 2 powers require "momentum" to work. Momentum is a sate granted by attacking with any titan weapon power, and lasts for 5-6 seconds. It doesn't stack/refresh (Exception : Build Momentum, the sets build up like power, grants a 10 second momentum state that overwrites whatever you currently have). Momentum causes the attacks to use an alternate, faster animation.

It has a second smaller shctick in being an AOE heavy set, with asmall amount of built-in endurance reduction. Even so, Electric, Regen, Willpower, and Energy are all favorites for their Endurance management tools.

It's fun, smashy. Note there is a weapons pack for sale separately with four additional weapons models.

Note the powersets in the store you get for free as a VIP are all marked "VIP content".

Staff - gives most/all the current animations for staff. THink of it as a combo between street fighting (combat levels) and Dual Pistols (the Forms have the combat levels give specific buffs, such as +Dam, +Recharge, +End Discount)
