Do you want help or do you just want to yell?
If you want help, please post the exact response/error message you received. -
Quote:But having people on both sides of the law in the same group makes zero sense. As for the chat, serious SG/VGs don't use it. They have their own global channel, which works cross-faction and cross-server. Also across multiple SGs on the same server, which many groups have. You still can't make a factionless SG, which is an utterly terrible decision. SGs are an important tool to build social connections that keep people around, and using the titular feature will require you to switch SGs or at least join a sister group that has a different chat domain.
Not sure what you're saying here.Quote:There will be no advantages of the system for balancing PVP zone populations, that is being a rogue or vigilante is irrelevant to PVP zones.
Probably, since rogues and close to villains while vigilantes are close to heroes. Makes sense to me.Quote:It's sounding like you will not be able to get, say, hero quests as a rogue.
Not sure what you mean here. You will ALWAYS have access to a market. And, since you can carry stuff with you, I don't see any problem anyway.Quote:Not being able to use markets will limit how effective your cross trips can be.
And that differs from every expansion of every game in existence in what way?Quote:It's also been so anticipated that users' expectations may be impossible to satisfy. -
There was a lot of (justified) complaining about this, along with suggestions that the members need not all be from the same SG, but just in coalition. If they can manage that, that would be nice.

Well, I like my main character, who is a scrapper, and probably play him more than any 2 or 3 others. He's my only scrapper since I figured I didn't need any others.
If we go by what I actually make a lot of, I have a ton of tanks and controllers - five of each at level 50, so far. I guess I like having the enemy do what I want.
-
Firstly, welcome to the game!

Second - they say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. All of yours seem reasonable anyway.
You've already gotten good answers to your specific questions so I'll make some general comments.
1) Don't play a tank.
I don't recommend a tank as a first character since you will often have other people relying on you and/or expecting certain tactics. I would suggest making your first character a scrapper. The only thing people will expect of you is to hit stuff. This will give you breathing room to learn the game.
Once you learn the basics, by all means play a tank. I have more tanks than any other archetype. And by the way, I don't know if you had some advice or just got lucky, but willpower is definitely a good choice for an inexperienced tank player.
2) Your tank has too many attacks.
For the most part, you can infer some things about the character by looking at what the PRIMARY powerset is and what the SECONDARY set is. The primary set for a tank is DEFENSIVE. The secondary set has your attacks. Conclusion: tanks should mostly be concerned about staying alive and keeping others alive. Scrappers have their attacks in the primary set - their main (only?) purpose is to hit stuff. With all those attacks, you are compromising your survivability and, as a result, the survivability of the team.
3) Your friends should be explaining things to you, rather than throwing you in the deep end. I mean - "My Question is How do I Tank?" - there has been enough written on this subject on these forums to fill a book (and not a small one). The only way to learn to tank is by watching other tanks. You can learn by watching poor ones and figuring out what they did wrong, but the best way is find a good tank who can explain WHAT they are doing and WHY.
BTW, this is definitely the right section to find good tanks. There's plenty of arguing in here, but most of the people posting in this section at least have a clue whereas the average player in the game probably does not (in regard to tanking, at least).
What server are you on? Odds are that someone in here is on your server and can meet with you in-game and explain stuff. If you're on Infinity, I have a level 50 willpower tank and would be happy to demonstrate tactics and discuss the powers in that set. -
Quote:Firstly, to avoid possible flaming in the tank section, stop 'thinking like a brute'. A brute would be mace/invuln. A tank would be invuln/mace since the defense set is primary. Thanks, everyone, for the info. I am definitely on board. I think I may roll a Mace/Invul tanker. Invulerability seems to be a pretty hard set from the talk I've seen on the forums. Can anyone comment on the combo?

I agree with invuln being a very strong set. I also feel it's a very good set for a first-time tanker (along with willpower).
As for that combo, I've never played mace. I have played axe, which is very similar in damage output (but while axe does knockdown, mace is a stun set). My only comment would be that, if you slot for stun duration at all, don't go nuts with it. My first tank was invuln/energy melee and when I got to use Hamidon enhancements (there were no IO's back then), I went nuts with the stun duration and it was annoying. You don't want the enemies wandering all over the place since you get a defense buff AND a to hit buff by having enemies NEAR you. -

Quote:This. Aside from the fact that telling it to stop asking DOESN'T WORK, the value is set too low. Realistically, there will never be a 'one size fits all' value for this option.2) Let us set our own bar as to when a market fee is "too high". I'd prolly set mine at 5M. So if I'm listing anything for 100M or higher, I'd damn well mean it.
Until then, both of those oh-so-useful warnings will remain off in my user interface, remaining useless. -

Quote:But they didn't count for the badge. Next time you see a Toxic Tarantula in Warburg, check the faction. The ones outdoors in Warburg are listed as 'Rogue Arachnos' and do NOT count toward the badge.Toxic's wander around Warburg also, they're not just inside missions. I've gotten a few on the streets.
I don't know WHY, but lots of people can verify this and it says so right on the ParagonWiki page about the Venomous badge. -
Quote:I believe the explanation is that the updater window actually uses IE to render and is therefore hard-coded to use IE if you access the links in it. You can get to all those links using any browser you want - just not from the updater.Has COH got a 'thing' against Firefox or am I being a tad paranoid?
P.S. I don't like IE and don't use it. However, since some software REQUIRES it to be present to function correctly, I not only keep IE installed but make sure I update it when a new version is available. -
That would be my guess. It used to happen relatively often but I have not had it happen to me in over a year at this point. Also, based on how quickly your issue got solved, they may have implemented some system to automatically fix crashed zones. Previously, it would require petitions to alert the staff.

Open your email window by clicking the word EMAIL above your chat window.
Click the button to create a new email (called NEW, I think).
The email will have a box where you can type in an influence amount. It will also have a box where you can drag-and-drop an item (like a recipe).
Send the email to your GLOBAL name and any character on the account will be able to claim it as long as they are the same 'faction' (hero or villain). -
Quote:You would need to go into the option settings and change the default so that it quotes the email you are replying to when you hit 'reply'.Until now, when the automated e-mail robot started bouncing my e-mails back to me, insisting that I reply between two lines. Except I can't reply between two lines, because my reply button gives me a nice blank e-mail body to type in, sans whatever I'm replying to. Yeah, I'm computer illiterate, so I was pretty stuck.
Or, you could cut and paste from the received email into the new one you are writing. -
No, a lot of accolades don't give you anything or do anything. You can get 3 accolades from doing the respec trials - they do nothing. There are accolades for all the Safeguard or Mayhem badges - they do nothing.
-
Open your badge list, by clicking BADGE on your navigation window.
Go to the veteran tab.
For most of the vet categories, there will be a 'badge' badge and a 'select' badge that lets you pick something or claim something.
Click that one and it will ask which weapon you want.
Make sure you pick the one you really want since you can never change it (on that character - every character gets their own choice). -
Quote:Like the Brown Derby, for example.Well, first of all, it isn't exactly little and secondly, it's 60 years old and has been in so many movies, TV shows and music videos it's difficult to list them all. It's a classic example of kitschy Americana design that's cited in nearly every history of design extant.

Quote:Your link doesn't work. You used the wrong type of slash, which has a specific function in URL's. (Mouse over your link, or click it, and you'll see what it does.) It should be as follows:The external website for the Mentor Project is located at: http:\\citymentorproject.mmopost.com
http://citymentorproject.mmopost.com
P.S. Interesting idea. I'll have to think about which global channel to drop as I'm already on 10.

I think it was in the webcomic Elf Only Inn that a new guy joined and was amazed that the name had been available.... until someone pointed out that he had spelled his name 'Lord of Dorkness'.

And, if you'd prefer to NOT earn XP while exemped, you can go into 'Options' and set it that way.

I did that SF early this afternoon and noticed the exact same thing. At the time, I mentioned to the team that I thought it was due to the crystals since I think they have to be treated as critters by the game engine due to the way they work.
Unfortunately, the last time I did that SF was a LONG time ago and I have no recollection if it was any different back then.
