Send an e-mail to the global name, not the individual character name, and you should be able to attach influence and other items to it.

And in case you never noticed, everytime you log in a character, the green system messages that show up on your chat window tells you what your global name is. It'd be something like @stumpy.

Open your email window by clicking the word EMAIL above your chat window.
Click the button to create a new email (called NEW, I think).
The email will have a box where you can type in an influence amount. It will also have a box where you can drag-and-drop an item (like a recipe).
Send the email to your GLOBAL name and any character on the account will be able to claim it as long as they are the same 'faction' (hero or villain).
