Quote:Um... Fight mobs that are 50+. Radio missions, Tip missions, TF's, SF's Trials, or regular mission arcs where the mobs are 50+.Would be nice if there were information posted somewhere that told us about all the ways to get shards, which are more than just the TFs... That would be nice.

The work-around for this bug is:
Use /releasepets (the normal way you release your pets does NOT work) and respawn them. Or throw an indiviual heal on each of them in turn (Ideal for Pain Domination MM's). -
Opening the contact list almost always triggers the glitch that crashes CoH with an OpenGL error that people have been posting about. It's as if the contact list pictures are part of the problem because opening the contact list on the Tips tab doesn't cause the OpenGL error.
I have also found that by disabling the Bloom setting a strange darkening of my graphics (which I could sometimes fix with /unloadgfx, but not consistently) stopped happening when the glitch happens from opening the contact list when it doesn't out right crash. -
Quote:No! Please no! Upgrading to the 260.99 nVidia drivers has finally enabled my quad-SLI GTX 250's and actually doubled my FPS everywhere in game. I don't want to down-grade. And I won't for now as long as the only really game breaking issue for me happens when I open my Contacts window (the normal version of the contact window, not the TF version that has the single avatar in it--which causes me no problems). Some people can run the latest drivers with no problems, some can't run the newest but can run 258 or 259 with no problems. Others like me have to run 257. This is across all models. 6800s, 8800s, 250s....No rhyme or reason that anyone has found. Annoying for sure, but in the meantime find the set that runs for you and stick with it for now.
But I know many people are having really serious issues. So something needs to be done about this. Please Devs. . .find this major bug and squoosh it! -
Quote:I now have the exact same error dialog appearing after upgrading to the 260.99 drivers (which doubled my FPS in the game from 30 to 60) when I open my contacts list sometimes. Even when it doesn't crash it gets twitching (display flickers) until I do a /unloadgfxStrangely I had this issue, or something very much like it for the first time tonight.
So far it's a one-off but the only thing that's changed on my system is an update of the graphics drivers to the current 260.99
Very weird. -
After I installed the 260.99 nVidia drivers my FPS went from around 30 to 60, and holding steady. These new drivers seem to be using my Quad SLI GTX 295 configuration with CoH--which the older drivers did not. And this is happening even before Issue 19 officially goes live (which is supposed to enable SLI support).
I couldn't be happier with the performance. However, there is one annoying glitch which has me stumped. When I exit CoH and then try running it again (without rebooting) the login screen is sluggish and I get 15 FPS in game. If I reboot first, I don't have that problem and get a steady 60 FPS. I do not want to revert back to the 258 nVidia drivers where I get 30 FPS, so for now I am rebooting before I start CoH.
Has anyone else seen this behavior or have a guess as to what is causing it?
And BTW, the nVidia 260.99 drivers come with a new install program that lets you do a 'Clean' install--it's about time. And that is what I used to do my install from the older version of the drivers. -
Except I can't think of any characters off the top of my head that I am respeccing because they have all the powers I want
Yeah, yeah...I'll probably end up respeccing most of them anyway for something I can't think of right now.

Quote:Wha?? I'm genuinely curious, GG. Had does that work for you? Do you frequently hop servers? And when one of them get to 50 what do you do?8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?
None - I ahve one avatar, cloned accross the servers
Sorry for the small thread hijack. -
So don't. I'm not respeccing any of my high level characters who selected Fitness powers. There are no powers I want that I didn't get. 3 new power choices for a level 50? WTH? I don't need that kind of stress making those selections.
Of course I'm kidding. But I'll deal with each character individually over many months. -
1. Are you male or female?
Female
2. What ATs do you mostly play, and for what reason(s)?
Blasters, Controllers, Scrappers, and Tankers mostly.
3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above?
Blueside
4. What are your favorite story arcs?
I like lots of them, but my favorite are several level 20-25 range arcs: Durge of Chaos, Crown of Glory. The Striga arcs that help me earn the Atlas Medallian. Freak Olympics.
5. What makes you like this game?
The devs are competent and talented. Grouping is better in CoX than any other MMO I have played ever.
6. What other games do you play?
At present none really. But if a new games comes out I might try it out for a few months (I played WAR for 8 months). but I always come back to CoH and have never let my subscription expire.
7. How long have you been playing?
Right from the start.
8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?
I have about 30 alts only 3 of which are 50 after all these years. I have a tendancy to get my characters to level 49 and savor the idea of getting them to 50 but hold off doing so for months.
9. Do you bother with softcaps, set bonuses, and all that numerical stuff? What difficulty settings to you normally use?
I IO out at 25, but don't really put energy into set bonuses. I like getting the Atlas Medallion and the Freedom Phlanx accolade on all my characters. -

All my characters are this many... *holds up some fingers*
-
And in case anyone is wondering. They are still to the south near the war wall mostly.
-
I like all caves. But any cave + speed boost = ARRRRRGGGG!!!
-
On a Sister Psyche TF the other day. We had a mob stuck in a wall. /Petitioned for help and the GM appeared within 5 minutes and pulled the mob out so we could kill it to complete the mission. Professional and courteous.
In the 6 years I've played that was only the second time I can recall that I needed a GM. The first time, 5 years ago, they also appeared in less than 5 minutes to quickly resolve the issue. -

Ah! So this is that famous lunatic thread I heard about.
Seriously, good luck guys. This is going to be quite the challenge for. -
Quote:My feelings exactly. I love love love our Devs. But this is something I am not looking forward to if every new character I make from now on is forced to have Hurdle. Inherants like Brawl, Walk, Ninja Run, etc. are all toggles. The Fitness pool powers are always on. Please let us choose to take Fitness pool powers or not. Choice is a good thing.I will also voice my concern here. I always take Swift on the way to Stamina, but I abhor and avoid Hurdle. I cannot stand the speed burst in the forward motion when you are just trying to get over a 1 foot ledge. When it is paired with Combat Jumping, it is barely tolerable, but not by much. I hope we have the option of "claiming" these powers at level 1 or 2, rather than having them forced on us.

Quote:Widower, I am so with you on this one. Any MMORPG where getting to max level as soon as possible to experience the "end game" is your top priority is antithesis to the concept of a virtual reality where going to from level 1 to max level is where all the adventure really is.You know, I've never understood this whole "Endgame" thing that people always ask for in an MMORPG. How exactly do you "end" a game when it's very nature requires it to be perpetual?
If you really want to be able to "end" your character's career as a hero, Villain, or Praetorian then you really have no further to look than the big red DELETE button.
I've always admired the CoX devs for their focus on widening the content in game--adding more content to the low and medium levels--instead of just increasing the maximum level every 6 months, and tagging the new content on the end. -
Quote:Sorry, I had to. A lot of younger readers here might not follow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uprjmoSMJ-o*applause for Golden Girl*
Fantastic cartoon.
I just get worried, because as I recall, someone reported "One odd fleyrod is out of skew on treadle!" and nobody knew what he was saying and the next thing you know, there was the Spanish Inquisition, which, needless to say, nobody expected. -

The current mob behavior as far as fleeing goes doesn't bother me. Your teamates with crowd control powers and ranged attacks can handle the runners. This is probably more of an issue for those who spend most of their time soloing. And let's be honestly here, you would run away if you were getting your butt kicked. Even the lowest level of mob AI should include them running away to avoid getting killed.
