It is a known issue and according to the latest patch notes for Test server, there is a fix in the pipeline.

Quote:What about using the vertical hanging wooden lights? kinda like using the florescent lights for stairs... might be a little tricky with the curve, but worth a shot. The wooden posts didn't look quite right, though I will try them again now that I'm moving the domes into a larger, gentler curve.

Sunstorm posted about raids on July 1, 09. The thread no longer exists, but there is a record at Red Tomax's Dev Digest:
Quote:OK, so now that things have calmed down a bit, here's the low down on this one.
Macskull and Warface both got it right. When we looked at how the PVP system was going to work with a rewards system, the result was pretty nasty. It's a massive oversimplification, but normal players could not compete with experienced PVP'rs, which wasn't much fun for the normal players.
PVP needed to be reworked so a normal player had a reasonable chance of beating an experienced player. Otherwise, normal players simply will not play if they have no chance of winning. Ending the /threadjack there though.
The reason it's still offline is because a number of the systems have been partially reworked for the changes. We're not exactly sure what would happen if base raids were turned on again, so we're keeping it locked away in a cage over a deep pit for now.
In fact, base pathing was removed not just because the base editors would have fun with it, but also because some of the bugs caused by changing items for raiding were not easily solvable. Yes, we'll be looking at options regarding base pathing. Considering some bases have almost a 3 items per square foot density, that particular setup may not be viable. There are other ways around the pathing problem though.
Hope that clarifies things a bit.

Quote:There is an 18 storage item limit for bases, no matter the plot size.Great, just found a new problem.
I just renovated my base and added a bunch more rooms, also added 2 more workshops. making a total of 3 in the base. 14 salvage containers. However if I make it 15 salvage containers base wide, I cant place a vault. Even if I make another workshop room.
I can't place it in any of the workshops or even the power room. However if I delete a salvage rack bringing it from 15 to 14, I can place a storage vault just fine.
This is a rather bad bug if you ask me.
WHOA! What the heck!?!
Ok, unable to place a salvage container in a room... HOWEVER if I alt+tab out and back in, the outline for the salvage rack goes from red to blue and allows the container to be placed. Tested this with the vault too and it did the same thing when alt+tabbed out and back in.
To test, just make sure your base has the same situation, place 15 salvage containers, then try to place a vault... anywhere. won't happen. Now with the vault still selected and showing red, alt+tab and you will see it turn blue, go back into the game and you can place it...
Storage items include inspie bins, storage racks, enhancie tables, vaults. You may only have 18, no matter the combination.
So my question would be, do you have any of those other items in your base? -
Be sure you are in "pick style" mode... the buttons on the bottom bar determine what you will be able to do in the editor.
There should be 2 windows that come up, one for room description & one that adjusts wall height.
- The room description window has a couple different tabs, one of which is for lighting. Go to that tab for the lighting color palette.
- The wall height window also has a color palette that actually colors the walls themselves. Note that this gives a different effect than the lighting option.

Thank you for repeating yourself, Agge, though it really wasn't necessary.
All we're saying is that several of us didn't realize it was a bug, and thought it was WAI.
Now that we know it IS a bug, at least some of us will be more comfortable putting a report in for it.
HOWEVER, /bugging it does not relieve us of the books that are still in our contact list. And apparently, some folks have been less than successful when dealing with CS on this issue, so we are stuck with these arcs regardless.
As for me, I will be /bugging and /petitioning... hopefully someone will eventually catch a clue. In the meantime, posting our experiences here is also another way of getting the word out. -
Just a quick addendum to Forbin's guide.
- When you craft the telepad, it goes into your "personal items" pocket. This means you will need to go out of regular editing mode and go into "add personal item" edit mode in order to place them. This is true for all crafted base items, as well as veteran reward items
- Beacons can be found in the regular edit mode, purchasable through the items tab for teleport rooms. Remember, to get the beacons you must hit the exploration badges in a zone while in SG mode. If you by chance get a badge while not in SG mode, fear not, you can go back and hit it again with SG mode on and it will credit toward the beacon.

Quote:Rangle & I tested this extensively the other day.The OP's number 1 and number 3 are almost the same problem. The client isn't given the character information for whatever reason and it does one of 2 things.. either shows a blank name in the team window, or shows the same name of the person above it. This is of course corrected once you are in the same zone with those team members.
#1 happens when invited to team. The leader's name remains blank until you are in the same zone as the leader.
#3 ONLY happens when leadership is changed while in different zones, and new mish is selected by the new leader.
Another thing that's been happening is that teammate locations are not reflecting correctly (my blaster was listed as being in Nerva!). I had difficulty pinpointing the exact pattern, but it's definitely connected to zoning. We documented our movements via chat and have sent the log to the appropriate red name. -
Quote:Will there be any BASE LUVIN?We could also use more slots in the sg roster limit.
After over five years and the ability to have over 30 characters on one account and tons of new ATs since inception I would like to see the sg roster limit raised. As leader of a very active sg with around 25-30 daily players we could really use more space in the roster. After adding in our casual players we are always tight on space.Storage space expanded? (choking on 30 pieces)
That's just off the top of my head.... there are many more base issues/requests that have been pushed to the back burner for far too long.
Nonfunctional items given function? (mission computer, heroside)
WW/AE/Rent payment access?
Fixed Beacon graphics?
New decorative items? (water?)
Better editing tools? (z-axis?)
Double door feature?

Quote:This.I've noticed for a long time. Just looking at the 1st mission of an arc gives the story book and you don't have to actually take the mission. I assumed that was working as intended.
I wasn't sure if it was a bug, but I always thought it was weird to get the storybook icon even if I hadn't actually "picked up" the mission.
This is very annoying, as it makes it difficult to skip arcs you may not be interested in running in favor of arcs that you ARE interested in. -
Is that a beaker stand? one of those little "desktop" type items, I think.
-
Quote:I'm using my second build as a respec...If you really just started playing this month, don't spend your real money on a respec. Wait and do the mission to earn one or re-start your character if you are way too low level to wait. There's nothing you could have screwed up so badly you should have to pay $10 to fix it when you can earn free respecs. Those are mostly for players who have used all their respecs. Or have no patience and extra cash. If you're of the latter group, by all means, spend the $10. But you should be aware there are other ways that won't cost you a dime.

Quote:I think I did that accidentally once, then couldn't remember what/how I'd done it later..... thanks for the reminder. But, did you all know that if you use that little arrow to open up a new tab (in FireFox, it's CTRL+click) you can click on the
to tag it and then close that window and it will still be tagged to show up in your posted reply? This way you don't lose your place in the thread you're reading.

"Trial Account" title

although I'd pick a color other than grey... grey gets lost too easily... yellow is a little glaring.... maybe a pale pink/peach or even purple/lavender

Quote:I did this one year too.... mostly because my Mom was going through severe depression at the time and didn't want to bother with it all. My little brother was crushed to say the least, so I picked up the ball, pulled out some grungy clothes, some makeup, hats, pillowcases, and in 15 minutes we were hobo/street urchins cruisin' for sweets.Agreed.. unless of course they're trick-or-treating as beggars. I remember being a hobo one year - what an easy costume.

Quote:ThisOtherwise, you'll want to get in on a Global Channel for your server. Check out the server subforums at the bottom of the forum listing for posts containing global channel names.
Go to the Server Forums and take a look through the threads for your particular server. Remember, Global channels are GLOBAL, ie., cross-server. Though often, if you subscribe to a global channel for your server, it's usually understood that's where you're located (on that server).
Global channels can be public or private. There are some really active private channels that folks use to form teams and chat.... Again, check out your server forums, and ask around.
You can also search in game for public global channels. Rt click in your chat window to bring up a menu of options, one of them should be "search channels". Use your server name as a search parameter and see what comes up. -
Quote:I too am having a negative prestige issue after base editing. Just upgrade from a Tiny Hidden Base to a Small Hidden Base and as a result, my prestige balance went from about 130,000 down to 50,000. That's fine. But, then I happened to click on the energy terminal room and, although no room was created, my prestige dropped to -50,000 9because the room costs 100,000). So now I'm under water with my base unless I revert it but don't want to do that because I'd like a gm to correct it. *grump*
Edit: a few minutes later, it seems to ahve fixed itself or a gm intervened without actually interacting with me.Quote:This seems to be happening randomly, perhaps a memory leak in the base code causing the prestige value to invert (a + flipping to a -) that has happened to me about 3 times now in the past and including my most recent issue with this. Normally the system catches it and reverts it back to a positive integer however this does pose a problem for active base editing and issues as well with the base code itself.
It is also known that there is indeed a memory leak with the base editor... one of the reasons synapse suggested several months ago that we keep base items to a 20k limit (least, that's my understanding of his explanation). -
Quote:Since a crafted base item goes into your "personal inventory", it will stay "on the character" that created it. If you want to place an item from your personal inventory in a base, you need to be a member of that SG (because there is still a prestige "placement fee").Is it possible to place a crafted item inside someone else's base? I accidentally crafted 2 power plants and it seems a waste to not use it somehow. I was thinking maybe it would be possible if my base and the other person's base were in a coalition. Anyone tried this?
You could conceivably quit your SG, join another SG and place your item, then quit the second SG and rejoin your original SG.... if you have someone to re-invite you. I would suggest NOT using your leader toons to do this. -
Quote:Any base plot is limited to a total of 18 storage units which include: enhanc. tables, storage racks, inspie bins, and personal vault.1. How many of each of the storage table can be placed in a base?
Quote:2. How much approximately would a base of the size to max out storage capacity cost?
Quote:3. Will it be neccessary to get two of the really big generators to power the base?
meh. -
Quote:Oh now, THAT IS clever. You can make notes for any random string of letters, it's just a text file. You could type /playernote dimensionalwarder and it will come up.
I WAS aware that you could make playernotes for your own toon, I've done it by rt. clicking my toon's name in the sg window...
However, if you do this for other people's toons when they are offline it will treat the toon name as a global; then you may not consistently see the stars on that player's real global as a result. I've had to go into the text file and clean it up a little because of this (playernotes on toon names instead of global names). -
You mean something like the Chaos Witch Base Pool? or maybe like the Legendary Base Pool?
Check out the Base Construction Forums for more ideas on how to make pools and even small fountains with the items already available in the editor.
Not to say that we wouldn't LOVE to have actual water effect items in the editor... it would definitely help with the cost of "making" them from scratch (slow fields are costly). But until then, we make do. -
This is indeed an idea that has been tossed around in the base forums...
In 2007-ish Mad Scientist and the base community at the time put together a very comprehensive "wish list" for bases.
A better SG messaging system has been asked/begged/pleaded for since at least that point in time.
Some hashing in the base forums has brought up the questions of "appropriateness", copyrights, etc.,. I personally think that putting in TEXT ONLY items/posters/boards might do the trick.... but it might be a pretty big trick as far as coding goes. *shrug*
On another note:
Quote:This made me laugh.I'm counting on issue 17 to be a new base editor with additional tools such as:
a vertical slider for floor and ceiling items so we don't have to stack and a horizontal slider so we don't have to stack wall items.
All of the ingame items currently used in the maps.
More templates besides arcane and tech.
Non combat npcs to use in your base such as a doctor for your medical bay.
transporter beacons for all other zones that currently don't have beacons such as parts of the shadow shard.
I ain't holdin' my breath.
