Broadcast Channel help
How do you use broadcast? I seem to be doing something wrong because I select broadcast channel and there's no chatting. I say things and get no response. Am I doing something wrong?

City of Heroes is also a game that depends on Instanced Missions to deliver "most" of the game. Even if you are on a populated server and there are lots of players in your level range... that doesn't mean they'll be online in your zone.
That and many players turned broadcast chat off after all of the Atlas AE farming pre-I16...

1. Where are you when using broadcast? as mentioned if you are in a private instance you are only broadcasting to that instance
2. What server are you on? some of them are so empty you may as well be in an instanced map especially if you aren't in one of the few popular zones.
I was in Terra Volta, but I think my misunderstanding was that it was a server-wide broadcast not zone-wide. So the question now is, how do you do a server-wide broadcast/message?
/hc (the Help channel) is server-wide, including both sides (red and blue), but it should be limited to asking for assistance. It's not a team-seeking channel, etc.
/a (Arena channel) is server-wide (not sure if it includes both sides). Be wary in this channel: it's PVPers and they can be nasty.
There is an architect channel that's server wide (again, not sure if it includes both sides), but I don't know what it's called and it's fairly limited in use.
Otherwise, you'll want to get in on a Global Channel for your server. Check out the server subforums at the bottom of the forum listing for posts containing global channel names.

Go to the Server Forums and take a look through the threads for your particular server. Remember, Global channels are GLOBAL, ie., cross-server. Though often, if you subscribe to a global channel for your server, it's usually understood that's where you're located (on that server).
Global channels can be public or private. There are some really active private channels that folks use to form teams and chat.... Again, check out your server forums, and ask around.
You can also search in game for public global channels. Rt click in your chat window to bring up a menu of options, one of them should be "search channels". Use your server name as a search parameter and see what comes up.
