I played this back during beta and I felt the same way...no point in leaving CoH when I was perfectly happy with it. The new shiny couldn't hold my attention the same way as City. I too have revisited the game, and have been enjoying it immensely. If it wasn't for the fact that so many of our own weren't migrating I wouldn't have given it the time of day...just following the group to the after party I've been in and out of CoX since I've started playing, and have played other mmo's. I don't mind the whole loot and gear system, nor do I mind the bag setup. The combat setup actually became a lot less clunky after I took the time to figure out how to setup keybinds...basically tagging mob targeting onto my attacks lol. I realize the bitter taste that Cryptic left in a lot of mouths here so that's understandable. But for goodness sakes...get past the tutorial in any game before deciding you don't want to play it LOL.
  2. I haven't had a chance to hop into beta yet, but curious to know how these new changes are going to affect procs from sets. I read that they are changing them to x amount of times the proc can hit within a minute...so this is good or bad for procs? Appears to be a nerf, but could just be my lack of understanding on how procs work.
  3. Personally I think a fire/kin controller would be a better bet if you are wanting to farm with SO's...it's ez mode farming and a good for new farmers. Also much easier for new players to use in teams since the buffs hit the whole party with one click. I've farmed with several different AT's and as far as ease none come close to fire/kin.
  4. Below is the current build I am using. I'm looking for some suggestions on some more efficient slotting choices and possible pitfalls with the current build I have. I'd like to make him more durable than he is especially for the current itrial content. Any help is appreciated thanks!

I realize you posted this over a month ago, but what combos could you recommend? I was wanting to try out beam/rad, but my main concern with it is the continual tab targeting of mobs to keep rad debuffs going especially considering anchors tend to draw a lot of player aggro (namely scrapper aggro ). I haven't played beam at all, but was looking for something different. I already have a fire/kin cor that's a complete aoe monster, so I'm not exactly concerned about uber damage output just something fun.

    Disrupt?

I'm sure this has been brought up, but wouldn't it be easier just to give an option to turn the effect off before they try to rework the animation for it? I've had to turn off other visual effects on my powersets simply because I thought they were a bit too gawdy or did not mesh well with the theme I was going for. For the power itself I've found it useful while leveling my /ea stalker, since it has helped me when I've been over run by a mob. As far as end is concerned I can't imagine it being an issue once you are io'd given energize and energy drain, but I too am wondering about practicality. The f/x doesn't bother me that much since it doesn't hurt the look of my toon, but the fact that it screws with crits out of hide makes it simply situational and only an io mule at best. Maybe i22 will change this, but it still seems like a waste given the high amounts of defense already attainable with the set.

    MMs and iTrials

I have a 50 thugs/time on exalted and would love to join you guys if at any point you need an extra hand or have an extra spot. So far my mm has become one of my most favorite to play and I'd enjoy rolling on some all MM teams.
  8. nvm...didn't understand how this worked but apparently I just needed to unlock it with server slot . I was afraid to try that because I didn't want to accidently use a global slot...derp
  9. My VIP sub was up today and I was a tad late getting it payed. I logged into my account and now all of my toons are locked again. Before going VIP about a month ago I used my awarded unlock tokens on some of my older toons. Once I went VIP I noticed that those I unlocked were still unlocked, but all of the others were still locked. I honeslty didn't have a problem with this because I didn't play many of them, and liked having a bunch of new slots to make new toons. I figured I could always pay to unlock any old toons should I decide I wanted to play one in the future. Did I screw something up by unlocking those toons before hand? I have sent a message to support, and I am hoping it is not an error on my end. Any help/suggestions is appreciated thanks!
  10. I realize I am necroing this thread, but I have a question in regards to sonic stacking. If I have 2 alts following me around (Defenders...too cheap to buy controller sets for other accounts ) both having Sonic primary is it possible to have them both stack disruption field on me?

Is this simply referring to the same caster since a toggle is only activated/deactivated or does this mean it doesn't stack from two different casters? If it doesn't stack I'll probably go with dark for the second alt.

I was curious to know this myself. I haven't seen anyone else address this, but it would certainly make the very rare worthwhile. Judging by the responses though I'm guessing no :/
  12. I gladly welcome any and all suggestions. I am not dead set on anything in the build, so advice is certainly appreciated
  13. Ok this is my first time trying to io a dom. I am aware that I have included some purple sets, and for the most part the expense of the build. What I I'm trying to figure out how useful will going for the s/l softcap be? I am usually in melee range so I can see the value in it, but with this much recharge will I really need to worry about getting hit? I did add a few sets to boost my s/l defense up since I know some defense is better than no defense. If I'm not going for the softcap is the amount of defesne I have in this build even worth it or would I be better off finding some more ways to add recharge to the build? I hate having to give up so much recharge in order to hit the softcap.

So basically its a waste to slot more than one? I plan on picking up sleet from the ice app so I can always slot it there later. Only reason I'm asking is I'm trying to come up with a build, and it will change some of my slotting choices.
  15. I have an earth/thorn dom that I'm working on mostly for the -def synergy that it has, and I really enjoyed my spines scrapper. Just curious how this proc works. I know it can be slotted in multiple powers, but not sure how it's beneficial. Does the -20% resist actually stack with multiple procs or is it just giving the proc a greater chance to actually hit?

I lol'd at this one....I'm guessing this is someone who has only played hero AT's. I have played my first dom (mind/psy) to level 40 now and it has been a blast the entire way. I was in a Mothership Raid not long ago and once domination hit I was able to keep one of the magus permanently mezzed while continuing to do damage, something my lowbie controllers could not achieve (I <3 domination). Even though I was told they are not controllers I didn't quite understand their roles. I thought their primary objective was to keep targets mezzed, but after playing one I realized they are also a viable dps class. I've seen people talk about how overpowered hero's are compared to villain's, which might hold true for pvp. In pve however, once rolling with a group of fully io'd vills there is no comparison. Hero's are just lulzy at that point
  17. Thanks for the replies. Right now I believe I'm in the 40ish range of global recharge and with hasten its somewhere at about 110-112 I think. I've noticed its about 20-30 seconds delay when dull pain goes inactive till the point I can use it again, so I'm not far off. I might have to sacrifice more than I'd like to keep it perma, so I might just settle for a short delay in between uses.
  18. I have an ss/invul and i was just trying to find out what amount of global recharge I'd need to keep dull pain perma. If I can achieve that with the build I have now I'd be set. Any advice appreciated thanks

If you are still posting 3 months after your second "If this doesn't change I'm outta here" post then I switch to "STFU or GTFO". If you say you are going to stop smoking and buy a pack of cigarettes I'm not willing to hear your gripe.
    I don't like your reasoning...so GTFO!!!

    +1 Troll for me....I win!

I have a petless mastermind that I play for fun. It is a gimp build, I know it and I like it. I solo with it and play with friends, but I never use it on Pug teams because I think it's rude to do so. When I get invites I quickly explain I am a petelss MM. I think it is proper team edicate.

lol...I'm guessing you came from WoW. There is no reason to kick someone for things so stupid as that. I've yet to play any redside content that requires specific builds. And FYI...you came here with a high and mighty attitude. I'll give you the pet-less mastermind, since I would probably boot ya from my team friend or not...that's just a waist of space. /ignored

    Anyways... on to the question:

I'm not seeing the damage. Where is it? I did a build where I cranked up FS and slotted everything for damage (think of it as a "max possible bursty") build because I just wasn't seeing it. Then I came to the forums and looked at about 2 bazillion builds for fire/kins. I read strategies and all that, and yet, I cannot seem to wrap my brain around where the damage comes from in this set. Is it 99% imps? Is it all procs? Is there a hidden "i win" button that pop up when you hit 50 that can't be duplicated in Mid's?

I surrender in my search and ask you, the all-knowing forum folks, where the heck does the damage to melt +4/x8 come from in a fire/kin?

(And please don't say FS. I know FS increases damage dramatically, but 4 times crap is still pretty much crap).

Hopefully someone can enlighten this confuzzled old brain of mine.

    Thanks!
Personally +4x8 is a waist of time if you are farming for purples and inf/hr. Fire imps add to your damage, but no they are not the greatest part of it as others have mentioned. Aside from soft capping your s/l defense you will find many of the threads also stress recharge, recharge, recharge. Also fire is one of the least resisted damage types in the game so fire cages and containment, FS (easily hit damage cap), hot feet, and fizzure you will find nothing survives long. Imps are just icing on the cake. For bosses I generally use Seismic Smash which might take one to two hits. Keep in mind this is not the only AT combo that is good at farming nor is it the fastest IMO. It is however one of the easier and cheaper to farm with, which makes it a lot more popular. Like all controllers you will find that leveling is somewhat slow, but well worth the effort.

This depends entirely on the AT, powerset choice, and playstyle. Some builds are incredibly tight leaving people to make tough choices on what they feel they can and cannot live without. As for play style some people are comfortable living close to that edge while others are not. So YMMV...

I think it will just take time to even out. Anyone who has ran co-op tf's enough knows how dom's perform...and if they aren't handing out buff's becuase your a vill thats silly.
