To Softcap or Not to Softcap: That is My Question

Ok this is my first time trying to io a dom. I am aware that I have included some purple sets, and for the most part the expense of the build. What I I'm trying to figure out how useful will going for the s/l softcap be? I am usually in melee range so I can see the value in it, but with this much recharge will I really need to worry about getting hit? I did add a few sets to boost my s/l defense up since I know some defense is better than no defense. If I'm not going for the softcap is the amount of defesne I have in this build even worth it or would I be better off finding some more ways to add recharge to the build? I hate having to give up so much recharge in order to hit the softcap.

I gladly welcome any and all suggestions. I am not dead set on anything in the build, so advice is certainly appreciated

I cant open the build, there is rumor of some bug with sleet in dominators and Mids.

I just finished up a Earth/fire Dom softcapped to s/l and it really stands up well. I stay in melee most of the time. The capped s/l really shines when I wasn't the one who initiated combat and I didn't have the chance to get them stunned or falling on their butts before they get off a few shots. Having a couple seconds to get things under control is priceless imho.

It isn't a rumor, it's confirmed. When you update from the prior build to the one introduced on Dec. 30th, the notes say 'we fixed a bug where sleet on dominators caused problems'. Any builds with sleet that aren't from the Dec. 30th (or newer for when we get another) version won't open properly from my experiences.

I think we were talking about this in your thread too Youmu, so the solution is to rebuild it from scratch using the latest mids?
