First weekend as a Hero on a Dom...

After finally switching sides on my Fire/Fire/Mu Dom I did a respec and became a Fire/Fire/Fire Dom or how I like to call it a “3rd Degree” Dom. It was quick to find a team on heroes and I was quite happy. The first thing I noticed was that everyone on the team was getting buffs, except me and the controller. It was not a big deal; however something I was not used to. Playing a Dom on the red side I always got buffs heals, etc…. I was doing a Task Force with 7 other heroes and I know how busy things can get, so I did not give it a second thought about getting skipped over on buffs. Then I joined another team to do the Tyrant mission and the same thing happens and I did not receive buffs. Do not get me wrong I am not upset by any means. It is just something I have to get used to when joining with a villain AT. I guess one of the reasons I was not getting buffs was because I was doing better than they expected and handling my own. I think the tankers we getting upset since the mobs were stunned and immobilized before they could jump in and they had nothing to taunt…lol. Overall I enjoy being on the hero side, I enjoy the Fire Mastery APP, I enjoyed the transition to become a hero, and I enjoyed the merged markets. So far I give my Dom on Hero side 4 out of 5 stars and now I am looking forward to trying out another archetype with the side switching.

Decent heroside players are used to this with controllers anyway. What seems more likely to me is that whoever was handing out offensive buffs was used to making controllers low priority since they're not really a damage-output focused AT. (I assume you're talking about offensive buffs, since defensive buffs tend to be trivial to keep on the entire team.)

People will get used to the differences with the new ATs. Decent players will, anyway, and bad players will be as bad as they ever were with the old ATs.

I dont think they were bad players, but I do think they did not know how a Dom blends in on hero side teams. I kinda felt like the new kid on campus...lol

I think it will just take time to even out. Anyone who has ran co-op tf's enough knows how dom's perform...and if they aren't handing out buff's becuase your a vill thats silly.

Do you play on Virtue? I ask because I have heard several role players talk about how their characters would not associate with or assist former villains.

Unfortunately, you may have had some folks with that mentality on your team.

When I first took my dom to Paragon, still a rogue but only because of tip mission limits, a defender on the team skipped me over with buffs and hostilely roleplayed against me including the suggestion that the team "watch their backs". My reply, "I'll be way ahead of you, showing you how it's done." Then, as doms do, I locked everything down so the team could steamroll them.

Other than that one I've had some pretty good teams. I played with an emp that kept me Fort'ed and AB'ed, which was quite nice.

That really doesn't sound very Hero like to me. More like Elitist. You would think a Hero seeing a Ex-Villain try to repay his debts by atonement for all his sins as something worth respecting. As they earn it over time gaining some greater admiration for his efforts of changing his ways.

I mean that is what I think a RP hero would be like. Oh well...not like I would associate with folks who act like that to others anyway.

Yeee-ah. I'm big on role-play, but not at the expense of my team's performance. I think I'd just drop team and find a group more willing to, y'know, stop the guys who are currently trying to hurt/kill/destroy people/property than bicker about what my character used to do. :P

Edit: Err, whoops. Quoted the wrong person ^_^ But you get the idea. Basically agree with quoted.

Absolutely ridiculous. Someone's personal RP should not get in the way of another's enjoyment of the game, or the performance of the team. Here's to hoping the number of blue side players like that is limited.
