Quote:I'm not saying this is inherently a bad idea, but I would like to point out that by using A-Merits you're excluding Vigilante and Rogue characters from the conversion system completely. Of course, they could always switch alignments, but it seems a bit cumbersome to lock people into Hero or Villain alignments for weeks or months. I guess you could let Vigs and Rogues use the appropriate amount of regular Merits + inf, but that could have its own issues. It could be a path for solo players.
They can play tips and morality missions solo and convert:
A Merits > Empyrean merits > Threads and then unlock and craft habilities out of the trials.
And they can only get 1, once in 40 hours... So its not a way to exploit the system.
Also theres an alternative to the only 2 trials... (I know we gonna get another one soon btw).
Also, you're thinking of it in terms of an alternate progression system, but what you're actually offering is an *additional* system which would allow people to run Trials and also convert A-Merits, and spend the extra Empyrean Merits on whatever they like. Again, I'm not saying that's necessarily bad, but it does let people speed up progression through the system. -

I don't think this has been suggested so far, but maybe consider setting up a team project with a few friends? Choose a concept, like an all-Rad team, or an all-Corruptor team, or a team where everyone has a Praetorian Clockwork costume, and arrange a regular play time every week. That will give you something to focus on beyond getting the character concept exactly right, and speed up the levelling a bit, to hopefully push you through the times where you might otherwise stall out.

Welcome back. Make sure to pop over and visit the former Euro servers, where we have tea and strange vocabulary :-)
Also, re: Incarnate content. I would really suggest approaching it with an open mind, and at least trying out the new trials. I've found them to be a lot of fun, in and of themselves, without even worrying about the Incarnate powers. The devs really seem to be focusing on making the new content flavourful, fast and action-packed. -
I don't know if the system changed at some point, but when the mods did the inactive user purge on Defiant Events, it immediately booted everyone who at that point hadn't signed in for the required length of time. About a thousand names were deleted from the channel as soon as the command was executed, and new people could join right away.

I agree with Fleeting Whisper -- this would be a nifty little utility under lots of circumstances. I'd say, let the League/Team leader set a timer than can be made visible to everyone, and also let all players set their own personal timers if they want to. I'd love a little timer onscreen that I could set to a repeatable 3 min for reshielding.

Fire/Ice blaster for me, hands down. Don't forget to take the Fire Epic pool, and then Reactive Interface if you want to get all Incarnated.

Wow, really? That's somewhat nuts. I mean, not that I wasn't thoroughly enjoying my Rain of Awesome Orange Numbers, but I was fully expecting them to get taken away at some point. I will now hope to enjoy them for slightly longer :-)

Apparently, those wacky kids in Marketing have decided that during a period when there might be expected to be a higher-than-average demand for a product, they would sell it rather than give it away.

Also, a newish feature that you might not be aware of is that you can now e-mail inf and enhancements between characters. So starting over on a new server is a lot easier, as you can give yourself a nest egg and move over any nice IOs you had.

I find that sapping works very well as damage mitigation on my Elec scrapper, even without recovery debuff. While drained enemies will still be attacking, they'll generally be using much less damaging attacks.

I'm playing a few different lowbie characters at the moment. Let me know what sets and what level range, and I'll make sure I throw up any drops I get on the market for you at a reasonable price.

For future reference, I found it a lot easier and cheaper finishing the crafting requirement by crafting base buffs. Some of them only have one component, so you can craft 80 per trip back to the base.

Stealth tip: Monitor your PvE stealth via Combat Attributes. If the stealth drops, break line of sight, stop somewhere safe, and wait for the Stealth to reactivate.

A couple of days ago, I was on a badging team hunting for Hero AVs in RV, and it seemed to be much, much easier than I remembered it. The team size varied between three and six as people joined and left, but I think most of them were Incarnates. With three in the team it was slower and more dangerous, but we were still taking the AVs down okay. With six, the poor AVs didn't stand a chance.

I don't even really play on the other English-speaking EU server. :-)
I'll probably make an alt or two on some of the US servers, just to take a look around, but I don't foresee myself playing much on them. -
Aww, rats. The single thing I was actually hoping for from the Anniversary was a chance to get the remaining Hero AV defeat I need so I can finish up the redside badges and swing back blueside.

Frankly, I'd like them to add a few more shouty text boxes.
USE YOUR MOLECULAR ACIDS ON THE PORTALS TO CLOSE THEM.
USE. YOUR. ACIDS.
YES, YOU TOO. YOU OVER THERE AT THE BACK, STARING AT THE WALL AND /E NOSEPICKING. USE YOUR MOLECULAR ACID!
OF COURSE YOU DO. CHECK YOUR TEMP POWERS.
I SAID TEMP POWERS. OVER THERE ON THE...GOT IT? AWESOME. NOW THROW IT!
OH FOR GOD'S SAKE NO, STOP CLICKING ON THE PORTAL THAT'S ALREADY DEACTIVATED. I DON'T KNOW, CALL YOURSELVES INCARNATES, I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE HIRED A BUNCH OF HELLIONS. SCREW THIS, I'M GOING HOME. -
I try not to keep too much inf in hand on my active characters. It's reassuring to know that there's a limit to how much I can typo away when I'm making a bid :-)

And I now feel compelled to go Google for the Real Men/Real Roleplayers/Real Munchkins lists that probably vanished with Usenet...
