No xp, but a rocking fun mission from the sounds of it.

    GMs as ally?

Thanks =) so yeah i tried to get this to work over and over last night and yeah yer right i cant do it. as a follow up, while the idea of having Malta mechs or vanguard mechs unleashed on zombies sounded fun in my head, in practice it was pretty dissappointing. specially since the HVAS was an elite boss and pretty much was one shotting everything. So i removed it, changed the mission up, made my own custom zombies, had some real fun with the dialogue, and I'm much happier with the result. thanks for the response =) im new to architect and im having a ton of fun trying to test and work these missions out.

    GMs as ally?

Ok. please dont misunderstand this as an attempt at an exploit rather than a fulfillment of a hopeless nerd's dreams. But, now that GMs are available in the AE, is it possible to choose a GM as your ally? the reason being is that my two most nerdy of nerdy dreams involve zombies and giant robots. And so it would make me exceedingly happy to see something like me and the Kronos Titan whiping out hordes of the banished pantheon, custom zombie versions of my hero friends and possible some vahz. (dont know if i can pull that all off but i'd love to try) basicly the theme behind it is that my RP-SG has been searching for one of our members home dimensions, my character, as the resident mage (and not a very good one) is finding the wrong dimensions over and over. in this case a zombie earth with our SG all zombied out. I summon the Titan for clean up duty with the team helping me. its not for xp or tickets or anything and im not even sure if its possible. if the kronos titan doesnt work, would the vanguard mechs or malta mechs work? basicly i wanted a mech vs zombie throwdown fun theme mission for RP for my friends. if its possible to put a GM as an ally please tell me how. thanks =)
  4. Lot of it had to do with the release if i17 and demon summoning MMs.
  5. I went with the Fire APP, my build only includes the two attacks fireblast and fireball but they really help with my damage output. Both recharge very fast and fireball especially was a great help when working on my defeat badges. In both solo and team play I very rarely see a need for a damage shield of any kind since in solo play the PA protects me pretty darn well and in team play that's what my other 7 pets are for (they aren't teammates, they are slightly more effective pets).

    195% rech

in addition to the above, I recently have discovered a wonderful little helper for my ill/rad when soloing AVs and GMs. I'm sitting at 203.75% recharge with AM and Hasten running which gives me a new PA just as the last of the phantoms disappears. however the sets needed to achieve that recharge do leave me drained on endurance from time to time. A simple solution to this is the use of the accolade power Geas of the Kind ones. It not only has a +recharge element (303.75% for the duration)which makes everything easier, it has a +recovery element. During a prolonged fight if you are running low on endurance or finding the gap between PA casting is unsafe you can pop that accolade power and be able to sail thru it pretty easy. Just something i found useful.

    Aggor Control

Pretty consistantly my tanks have aggro stolen from them by shield scrappers. Against all odds is an amazing aggro magnet in addition to all the damage they do. In those situations most of the scrappers are aware of why aggro can't be maintained and seem to accept it as a reality of the benefits of that power.
  8. Ok so I've got my perma PA build goin strong now and life is 16 different types of wonderful. But now that I am done, Ive begun nitpicking. In my recent fights ive noticed that i dont really need flash and EM pulse. Now i use a set of 4 basilisk's gazed for the recharge bonus so i do need one. but i was gonna switch out one of the two for consume from the fire epic pool so i get better endurance during long term fights like against GMs. should i drop flash or em pulse? tho not major i have noticed that the recovery debuff from EM pulse during AV/GM fights does mess with me a bit and Im not sure if stacking lingering radiation is sufficient -regen for the job. basicly, if i'm running 203% recharge and am firing off lingering radiation do i even need em pulse? thanks for your advice.
  9. I'm with Local_man on the fire app. the two attacks are great additions to your attack chain, but what I found to be most important is, since I got perma PA, is endurance. I dont know about the rest of you fine folks, but the reason I put all the effort into a Perma PA ill/rad was so i could solo AVs, Rikti Pylons, maybe a GM or two.... what i discovered when i first put it together is, while i had the pets out for the entire fight, eventually with the toggles and constant attacking, that I ran out of endurance. popping blues left and right wasnt cutting it. even with stamina and AM on perma, I was running out vs the harder targets. What I did was I ended up picking up consume from the fire epic pool. this makes a huge difference on prolonged fights and i highly recommend it. realisticly it can replace any damage shields you have since the PA is tanking for you as well as phantom decoy and whatnot. Fighting against the harder AVs and even GMs is an endurance trial, at least in my experience, and consume helps out
  10. Check out Local_man's ill/rad guide in the controllers FAQ section, if you are just running task forces there is an absolutely awesome IO build that is very reasonable cost wise and very potent (not the perma PA one haha) and has some amazing advice. I definitely recommend checking it out.

    Ill/Rad

Great reply, Also a wonderful source is Local_man's ill/rad guide in the controller FAQs section. Not only does it give a detailed explanation of each of the powers, it gives suggestions on the use of deceive and even has various builds to assist you in leveling up, a very affordable IO build (which was the first one i put together that was awesome) and the infamous Perma PA build. Its totally worth a read.
  12. [QUOTE=mauk2;2712693]Ok, this isn't mine, I'm helping a buddy out. He wants a sturdy claws build with no purples, becuz he is cheap.

I hacked this together, and think it is 'ok'. Now, see what you make of it!

Ok, so there are 5 LoTG recharges in that build and your friend is "cheap"? I have got to party with these guys!
  13. Lvled an earth/storm and it is just plain fun. It gets great after 32 and is visually rewarding. However i also love the idea of earth/rad after playing ill/rad for so long, ensuring that the anchor and all affected mobs actually stay in place for my rad debuffs.....thats just too good. I think an earth/rad would be really rewarding as part of a dedicated team as it would be an amazing debuffer. I bet you could do some truly awesome color combos between earth and rad too with like the rad looking like volcanic gasses or something. Local_man has an awesome earth/rad guide. you should check that out.

    3rd Attempt

A good transition from blaster to controller in my opinion would be Ill/Rad. At lvl 50 my ill rad starts fights with his debuffs and pets then for the most part just pew pews for the rest of the fight. I dont mess around with the AoE controls so much in 90% of the situation since the debuffs from rad and the phantom army take care of alot of it. Deceive will take out the one or two trouble spots in a mob and the rest is me running thru blind, spectral wounds, and my powers from the fire APP. its really fun and rewarding, makes for a great soloist, and definitely has a blaster feel to it with the 4 attacks i run in my single target chain. tho mind is good too. i like mind. just like ill/rad more....thanks alot local_man for getting me addicted to the toon.
  15. there seems to be TONS more in game canon for the big V than longbow. for RP purposes and backgrounds you can even unlock vanguard armor and weaponry as well as drag your friends on vanguard specific missions which RP really well (especially the mission where you attend the peace summit and protect lady grey) all around good stuff for rounding out a toon and RP value. if that was what you were interested in. maybe oneday they will let us unlock longbow stuffs but for now we have the V
  16. Theres a great article on longbow on Paragonwiki.com that will provide you with good info on them. Doesnt say what year or when they were created. Im assuming it was a gift from statesman to Ms liberty for her sweet 16 since she doesnt need a car. thats just my theory tho. But it says the are a division of freedom corps, so the members must have been recruited from existing Freedom corps soldiers. All a moot point really since Vanguard>Longbow and you should really be asking questions about vanguard and all their awesomeness. Lady Grey/Serpent Drummer for president 2012.
.....ok im done now. hope the wiki helps tho in all seriousness.

    PB tank?

So last night I was in PI on my PB tank. (I so very rarely solo due to the awesome community on virtue) And something dawns on me. I was talking with a tank buddy in SG chat comparing stats and whatnot. Part of my Pug was 2 scrappers and a blaster. So I bring up my combat attributes to tell him what my resistance was. This whole time I've been trying to figure out how to buff my resistance via set bonuses and expensive enhancements and I totally forgot cosmic balance. My resist was cranked up to near tank levels just by having the scrappers and blaster on the team. (Now im not feeling so amazed about those times I tanked AVs on teams.....) Given that theres no shortage of scrappers and blasters out there, Im not so concerned about resist bonuses anymore. So now i finally see why everyone is suggesting recharge bonuses. Everything else gets taken care of by cosmic balance.
    /facepalm

    PB tank?

would it be a good idea to toss in sets of doctored wounds into my 3 heals? for the recharge bonus? those self heals are huge for my survivability where i'm sitting now.

Heh, wow, maybe im over saving, haha. Im used to trying to save up for my perma-PA ill/rad build. im really excited about having PB be my next project. I love being able to step up as a tank when needed. But enjoy the flexibility of being able to scrap it out when tanking is covered.

    PB tank?

So I've been messing around with my human/dwarf PB and he is up to 41 now. More and more I've been finding my self having to tank in a pinch, the tank drops out or we just cant seem to find one. I've been really enjoying tanking but dont want to roll a pure tank since i love the option of shifting to a blapper and filling that role if a tank is present. Now in most situations I tank just fine, I even pretty solidly tank on AV mission arcs. Took on a lvl 52 version of Marauder just fine when the WP tank accidently detoggled and died. But I know i can do more. Ive been comparing resistance stats with my tanker buddy and Im not even half what they are. Basicly what im looking for is if there is a way to slot your dwarf powers to really be able to tank really well in dwarf form. Do ehancement set bonuses i put into my human form powers effect dwarf form? or is it only the dwarf powers that give me bonuses? Basicly I'd like to Dwarf tank as best I can. Nothing really amazing, I mean im just backup tanking, but Im willing to dump about 300-400 million into the build but don't know how much is necessary in dwarf form to really be able to be tank-like. I mean im sure ill not be able to stand next to lord recluse and yawn like a stone tank can. But i'd like to be as sturdy as possible. Thanks in advance.

Just as another note. If you NEED the control from Mind while playing /FF you're doing something very very wrong.

Edit - If your primary goal for this FF toon is for Ship Raids you may wish to go with an FF/Dark defender. Stacking AoE -acc on the mobs gives you the equivalent of softcapped defenses with out any IO sets and it gives your teammates a buffer when the Rikti Magus use Stalagmites (the Rikti Magus version is around a 20% defense debuff. Throughly nasty if you don't have any DDR or a large buffer). Softcapping your own Ranged and AoE Defense with IOs gives you the same level of defense as the rest of your team.

As long as the rest of the raiders stay in your Dispersion bubble you can literally protect the entire raid. That's how I use mine on Ship Raids. There have been times that I am the only bubbler on Ship Raids and as long as everyone stays near there are no deaths except when folks don't call out Bombs.
Thats a real good idea. Yeah I really love the mothership raids. Something about taking the fight to the Rikti I just dig. The other parts that really frustrate me is when my whole team gets mezzed right next to a newly planted bomb and we cant escape. Thats part of the reason I wanted to go FF. So folks, I'm changing my objectives here (starting to see why I have altitis?) I would like to see a FF build (troller or defender) that would really shine in a mothership raid. Reasonably priced (hopefully less than 300 million would be great cuz wow im broke after my ill/rad) That would just be able to hold it down in the bowl when the Maguses just start tearing into folks.
  22. Quite a few things are available to really spice it up. Especially with the new sidekick mode. I keep the event channel open for GMs that spawn and hopefully can drag a few folks to help my Ill/Rad drop them. Rikti mothership raids are never dull. We've got folks doing regulard MoSTF runs nowadays which are lots of fun and very organized. I like to get my group of friends to take their lvl 50s and come with me to Ouroboros and just run a random arc. Breaking out of your lvl 50 comfort zone by getting lvl adjusted down to 25 or so is really fun. Shakes it up a bit. TFs give you xp now regardless of what lvl you are at. That helps quite a bit.

It doesn't have the AoE anti-mezz protection, but it does have shields, some limited personal protection, really good boss-busting powers, a ton of -resistance, and some endurance recovery abilities. If you combine it with Super Speed you can even go invisible and beat Illusion at the mezz-from-the-shadows game.

I have actually used my Mind/Cold to win Task Force rescue missions by super speeding to the end, confusing the mob so that they kill each other, then walking back to the entrance with the hostage in tow, sleeping or confusing each group as we stroll past. The enemy never even has to know you're there.
Ok that is just plain hilarious. Also the reason i wanted to go with Mind. One of my favourite things to do with my Ill/rad is to invis to an objective and, without drawing aggro, cause the badguys to beat the snot out of each other. Often enough if there is another Ill or Mind on the team, we will find a spawn with two mobs of the same type (minion, LT, etc) and take bets on which one will win if we deceive/confuse them at the same time. Unbelievable fun. But the idea of being able to do Mass versions of it just makes me giggle. Especially now that they have new difficulty slider i can pretty much make sure that its a x8 minion slugfest where i can just sit back and eat popcorn. I know that doesnt sound fun to some people, but wow. I'm giggling just thinking about it. Primarily I wanted FF for the mezz protection and defensive buffs via dispersion bubble since Mothership raids are one of my fav things in this game. But I wanted to balance between enjoying the heck out of confusing/mezzing enemies and being able to protect everyone on the hull of the mothership. I've got several toons for optimized play (as far as what my friends and I need) such as a 50 emp, 50 kin defender, 50 Ill/rad. This one is all for the fun stuff that I enjoy most. Mothership and making things smack themselves. But if going Mind/FF will mean that my time on the mothership wont be good enough then maybe i should go for FF/arch with better protection and a crashless nuke.
  24. I am often suprised at how good phantasm is. Time after time I've been saved by the decoy phantasm in between PA recharges. All around I really like what Illusion brings in the form of pets. Spectral terror and Phantasm really shine when I dont expect it. I've had decoy phantasm even save me from ambushes I didnt even know about. Times where im just gabbing away talking to friends and would have face planted were averted by Phatasm's obviously superior (to mine) skills.
  25. Hey gang! So I'm usually pretty defender obsessed, but after finishing my latest defender leveling project, I've come to the set I've been putting off since I got this game. Forcefields. Now, I love having bubblers with me on things like mothership raids and whatnot with the mez protection and the great defense. But with FF defenders seeming incredibly boring to play, I'm concerned that I'll just drop it after 30 levels or so. Now aside from defenders I have a 50 Ill/Rad that I just love to death (thanks for the build again Local_man) especially the power Deceive. It takes all my least favorite enemies like Malta sappers and turns them into my favorite. Sky raider engineers and whatnot I now actually look forward to. Anyway. Forcefields. So I wanted to do forcefields and still actually have fun. My question is. If I go ahead and make a Mind/FF (using mind to toy with my enemies the same way my Ill/rad does but on a larger scale and frankly id rather try a diff primary on a new toon) will it be able to defensively buff well enough to be comparable to a FF defender? I mean, I understand that technically speaking the Defender bubble will be stronger than the controller bubble especially with power boost. But will it be that noticable? Will people go and say "Man we shoulda grabbed a Defender Bubbler instead of this Troller"? Or will I be able to fill the defensive needs of the team while still totally messing with my enemies Troller-style? I appreciate any input you kind folks have on it. thanks.
