Villains on Virtue?
I'd say heroes outnumber villains in Virtue even more than Freedom. Ppl seem to like heroes even more there.
But it's still very active, I'd never even think of playing redside out of F and V.
I know it's impossible to get a straight answer, but would you say they've got a similar sized villain population? Or would I be better off rolling red on Freedom?
I think it'd be fairly similar whether you rolled a villain on Virtue or Freedom.

No idea about Freedom, but on Virtue heroes typically outnumber villains by about 2:1 during the U.S. central evening time that I play. At least this has been the case any time I have ever bothered to do a quick /search poll of both sides. 600-800 heroes and 300-400 villains is what I usually see during weekday prime-time when an Issue or event isn't going on.
That ratio is currently skewed by Demon MMs but expect it to return to those levels after a bit.
Villains: Annie Alias, Dr. Amperical, Shade Golem, Knight Marksman
Heroes: The Clockwork Mime, Soccerpunch, The Fissioneer, Samurai Houston, Oversteer

Interesting side note, on Sunday afternoon when Virtue was "yellow", there was a point in time when (visible) villains slightly outnumbered heroes (if I recall, it was 672 heroes and 677 villains). No doubt this is an outlier, but still strange to see.

Lot of it had to do with the release if i17 and demon summoning MMs.
We have so so Redside. It depends on who you know and when your on.
That being said right now there is a huge upswing on reside due to i17 so right now you got a better chance of getting something going redside. Will it last past the rush well that I don't know.
Typically...
Theres more blue then red, because of.
1. City of Heroes was released 1st.
2. Heroes are more attractive to the masses, for some reason.
3. Better market.
4. Hero AT's are more straight forward.
But, thats just my input. Opinions are opinions, but I know reason 1 is fact.

More to the point, what kind of people do you want to play with?
There's a definate difference in style. Pick whatever works for you.
I you want to team and level up, there is no shortage of villain players, if that's what you mean.
I team and level up on random PUGs regularly on villain side.
But if you just want a busy environment cause you like being in crowded environments (i.e. Atlas Park on Freedom), then no. You wouldn't like villain side on Virtue.
I am on Redside 24-7
You need a team, look up my global: @Darkmire, if/when I am on, I am running XP teams.
Its what I do, Im seekrit XP King of Virtue,

From what I've seen, the majority of Virtue resides on the bluer half. However, there are some fairly strong RP groups Redside if that's what you're looking for.
Oh I will pipe in here is how I normally go about finding a team redside. I first use the LFT option turn it on any add a note something like "DEAR LORD I NEED XP" or the such.
Then I check my friends list and see if any are up for some redside teaming.
If that Fails I go hang out in Pocket D do some light RPing and surf the web sooner or later someone will send me a tell looking for a team.
How active is the dark side compared to the heroes? Is it about even, or do the heroes significantly outnumber them like on Freedom?
