Whats up guys. I come here to ask other than running radio mishes and doing the occasional TF, what do you guys tend to do on CoX to keep the fun factor alive? I've been on CoX for about 3 years on and off. I'm wondering if I'm missing some cool content. For the average player they are probably missing out on alot of fun arcs/activities in CoH. The activities aren't exactly put out there in plain site.

Quite a few things are available to really spice it up. Especially with the new sidekick mode. I keep the event channel open for GMs that spawn and hopefully can drag a few folks to help my Ill/Rad drop them. Rikti mothership raids are never dull. We've got folks doing regulard MoSTF runs nowadays which are lots of fun and very organized. I like to get my group of friends to take their lvl 50s and come with me to Ouroboros and just run a random arc. Breaking out of your lvl 50 comfort zone by getting lvl adjusted down to 25 or so is really fun. Shakes it up a bit. TFs give you xp now regardless of what lvl you are at. That helps quite a bit.

I like to try and make a themed-team. Get some friends together and start a new team that picks the same secondary or the exact opposite power sets or something equally weird. Then you see how far you can run without a single death. It really makes you think about stacking powers and tactics.

For me, I'm still working on tracking down all the taskforces, trials and strike forces.

I'm still to do most of the Shadow Shard TFs, the Abandoned Sewer Trial, the second two respec trials hero-side and the Recluse/Statesman taskforces as well as the villain-side Reichsman TF.

And also a bunch of content.

I also do costume design and roleplay occasionally when I get the chance.

In addition, occasionally poke my head into the PvP zones every once in a while, though that's less frequent now.

Oh! And another thing you can do is get into a supergroup with a broad coalition and base access and just do the tourist thing. Or if you're not in a coalition, try to expand your SGs links, since this will also provide a greater chance of other supergroups in your coalition doing special stuff that you can jump along with.

Oh yeah, and I also haven't done a hero-side Hamidon.

Not to mention the stuff I don't even know about.

I've only been on for a year and because of altitis I still haven't got anyone above level 35 so I have a ton of stuff yet to discover. I'm currently visiting Cimerora for the first time with my shield and broadsword scrapper (she fits right in!) and having a great time.

I really need to see if I can get either of the 35s up to 50 at some point. must... focus... must... resist.... alts....

I like to start each toon with a specific goal in mind to keep myself from getting bored. Like I've got one toon for badging, another for PvP, one that tries to run all the story-arcs, etc. Otherwise in the past I've started up static teams or attempted themed teams.

Yahoo. I was just on Virtue for about 8 hours so I can chime in on this one without any guilt! ha!

So what do I do to help keep the fun factor alive?
I create lots of alts and char/side/server jump all over the multi-verse.
PuG. You never know what you are going to get with a PuG and that is the main beauty of it. The team is always changing. You never know what the other players are going to do for sure, so it's cool watching a team gel as they learn to work with each other. It's a different experience very time.
Don't mini-max; create concept characters and try to stick to the concepts. Yeah, you can just want to "win" but after a while, it should make sense that the fell of the game is often the reward and making a cool character and figuring out how to play the character to make them work smoothly can be very rewarding.

What kind of cool content is being missed?
How many adventures do you think are in the AE? There are thousands of them that are probably great missions that would take on an average at least 1 hr to run, so there is tons there to be had. There are also lots of not so great missions mixed in - and, for some extent, that's just a matter of taste.
I've recently been heading into the Shadow Shard through Firebase Zulu. I never really went out there much, but now that the raptor pack vendor is there, it is a lot easier to get around. I've been out there duo'ing Controller/Controller and Controller/Scrapper and it has been a pretty good time. It is a beautiful zone and it is cool to get to experience it at a good level rage. I suggest going in there at level 41-42.
Run Door missions in PvP zones. Yeah, they are there and they are different from normal missions. They are pretty repetitive quickly, but definitely worth checking out if you haven't done them.
Monster Island and Rikti Monkey Island in PI. There is a whole Island full of DE Monsters and an island rampant with those pesky Ritki Monkeys. They are out there just waiting to be experienced.

I ran a costume contest.

((The AE arcs are a great source of entertainment. Some of the stories are really good.

I have one level 50 character and I've been playing since about a month after CoH's release, so those of you fretting because you don't have one yet, don't worry.

Also, in all that time I've yet to run a "real" task force all the way through. I've started several, but had to bow out before completion, so I quit bothering with them at all. The only ones I've done are Katie Hannon and Twilight's Son, but I don't count them because they are short (Twilight's Son is really good though, and I highly recommend it).

The main thing I do to keep things fun is role-play. I post stories on the boards about my characters based largely on that roleplay. It's great to surround yourself with creative players who inspire you to want to explore your characters and their world.))

I solo A LOT, so I feel I can comment on the story arcs. Believe it or not, if you slow down and actually read the details from the contacts on each arc, there are some that are very, very fun.

The Crimson World Wide Red arc is cool.

Of course, the Maria Jenkins Praetorian arc.

I like Janet Kallum's Take Down Countess Crey arc.

The Doctor arc from Gordon Stacy is fun-nifty overall 'bodysnatchers' theme.

The Madeline Casey Carnies arc is pretty fun, too.

And that's just blueside. Redside,

The 10-15 arc that you can unlock in PO is fun (I always mess up her name-Luna Veluti?).

The mad scientist (Vernon Von Grun?) in Grandville-he's a freakin' riot!

Johnny Sonata's arc. The last mission is great!

The unlockable contact Doc Buzzsaw. The devs totally stole some lines from the Clint Eastwood movie 'Unforgiven' for that one!

And many, many more-just take your time and read through the mission info. It's pretty good/pretty funny!

Basically too many 50's to count, but I'm generally a brute/scrapper/tank kind of guy.

I like the Faultline arc.
And I always do the Striga and Croatoa arcs since they give you cool stuff.

Redside I like Radio & Television and I agree that Johnny Sonata's story is pretty great.

And Holiday events are fun.

I like to do events: mothership raids, hamis, costume contests, arena blah blah

Meeting new people that know how to play is ever so awesome-- thats where the SG business can come in...

AE is always a time sucker, but can be a lot of fun creating things if you like that sort of thing.

Making and leveling new toons I like to make builds and then if I like enough I make it -- gives me something to spend my inf on. Revisiting my older character builds to rework and improve is always nice -- or maybe make a second build to achieve a different play style.

There is also that solo aspect that people love to do and there is endless possibilities with that -- but I find that plain boring -- I like teaming with other players, it never fails to bring excitement
