Much easier time of it in Striga than IP for me as well. Both bosses are all over in the port area, whereas Family bosses are much more hit and miss in IP in my experience.

Need to stop having thunderstorms on game night. Second Saturday in a month where I have disconnected repeatedly, ugh. So it was a no go for me, wouldn't have had a chance with the way my internet was (and still is) behaving. Was disconnecting every other mission on the Sister Psyche I was on.
What were some of the challenges, if it it's okay to ask? I did want to check this out but didn't think I could do it. -

While I would like to see more resistance bonuses in sets, defense bonuses aren't going to change. Can you imagine the outcry if people had to rework their builds because the devs started moving around bonuses in more than one set? People howled over the Blessing of the Zephyr change, and that was one set only being slightly reduced in effectiveness.
Even if the change doesn't seem much to you (not saying you do), the devs are very reluctant to change anything already in game because of how people can react.
On top of that, it seemed clear that Castle was settling for where things were at for defense. They lowered BotZ's benefits as it gave too much benefit, but the rest remained as they were. Softcapping is apparently okay, but they don't want to make it too easy for us (and I would doubt whether it's worth it for some squishies to go to the def cap, as they have to give other bonuses). Castle noted it might have been better to not allow each AT to softcap, but he was going to have to be okay with it.
That's paraphrasing, obviously, but I'm fairly sure that was the gist, as the issue is of interest to me. -
A lot of the zone story arcs and TFs are worthwhile, and most have been noted already. The Hollows is good up through Frostfire, and it's much more easy to get around to missions now. It's worth opening up the trial as well, I would say, though the last two arcs in the zone aren't quite as fun to play through.
Faultline as a zone and its story arcs are great (completing the third also unlocks the Orobouros Portal for you). The devs seem to have noted this, tying in the second Posi TF with the area quite a bit.
Striga is a bit more hit and miss. I don't like how many hunt missions there are (hunting Council in the Bog usually means you having to solo team-sized groups of Warwolves or Vampires), but some of the stories are good, and it's worth unlocking the Hess TF at the end. Love that volcano base. The Moonfire TF there is nice as well.
Personally, I love Croatoa. Very atmospheric zone, fun story arcs, interesting villains, and the Katie Hannon TF is an interesting one.
The 20s seem to have some good missions. The new story arcs (through Midnighter's and the new ones exploring your "double") are fantastic. Then you have the Freaklympics in there, and some great missions against the Warriors and Banished Pantheon. Kind of frustrating that you can't get to it all.
Good stuff later, of course, but there is a heavy concentration there. -
Anyone know if there are any current issues with the Mid's file you can download? I have a new laptop that runs Windows 7, and I can't get Mid's to install on it: it runs into an error accessing the file or some such once it starts the installation process (so after I tell it where to place the program, etc.).
I can throw this up on the Tech forums if needed, but I thought it might get some other eyes here that know more about Mid's and the Titan Network stuff. -
Quote:I always thought it was lame that Leia wouldn't do much with the force, but it worked okay for the first Zahn books. After that, though, it would have been better for her to do more. Would have made sense after encountering another dark Jedi.I think that was part of the Corellian trilogy, and yes they sparred but Luke wasn't quite taking her seriously and was caught by surprise. She then revealed she practices when she can. Problem with Leia for too long in the books was that she was too chicken hearted to embrace her Force heiritage until the Dark Nest trilogy.
It was the Corellian trilogy, I'm remembering that now. But it was mentioned that Leia defeated him by skill. I remember the line going something like "it would only happen once in a thousand encounters, but it had happened." I remembered the line for its lameness, for one reason or another. *sighs* And then I'm able to forget names far too easily: memory is such an odd thing for me.
The whole debate on the nature of the Dark Side (is it a ying-yang, or a cancer) is the whole Manichean vs. Boethian nature of evil debate. Probably isn't going to be answered easily, given it's been debated for centuries. Heh. -
Quote:That would be a loverly way to tick many people off. Ay yai.No, but I do remember the one that said NCsoft should offer a way to buy your way past the queue, and boot players if they don't have the "I bought my way to the front of the line." status.
Anyway, on to the topic. War Witch said a long way back they had some trick up their sleeves that they were working on for this, and I thought the implication then was that it was not a merge.
My own gut feeling/hope is that they are going to find a way to allow for teaming cross-server. That'd be a win for the whole supposed situation. Plenty of people to team with all over, and "low population" servers will still have a charm for those that like them.
I don't think there are any issues with finding teams, personally, but the above scenario would hopefully shut those up who seem to think there is. -
Going to be getting my Electric Face on with Going Rogue. I have plans for an Elec/Elec Brute and the same combo for a Dominator (assuming that looks as good as it does for Controllers... I like being able to solo).
I dunno, I would think it's worth waiting for Going Rogue. It's only a couple of more sessions. Could just plan out some strike forces for the next two sessions or something. -
I think the Timothy Zahn books were the only ones that I found really enjoyable (both the three that kicked off all the book writing, and with the other two he eventually wrote). They worked well for Star Wars, but also as books: I've actually reread them and liked them.
There were some Rogue Squadron ones that were fun "popcorn adventure" stories, too, but most of the others just struck me as lame. I think the worst one for me was when the author had Luke and Leia do some sparring and actually had Leia disarm Luke... even though she never does any practicing at all, and he's somehow facing dark jedi all the time. *rolls eyes* -
Random swearing due to the forum title, made PG by the moderator in me! Dangit, dangit, DANGIT!
*ahem* Anyway, there isn't technically a water power set, but power editing has made it possible. Kinetics and Energy Blast can work well enough for the concept, I would think. Maybe even that Kinetics Melee when it comes in with Going Rogue. -
Quote:It's more of a difference for ATs than the powerset, though. Blasters can be a lot lighter on the endurance bar because their attacks do such heavy damage. You just don't have to attack as much to drop your targets.Grey Pilgrim, that's just Ice Blast. Even for Blasters, it's always been known to be a little heavy on Endurance use. I'm totally with you on that, though--I have an Ice/Cold Corruptor (50). Slot it for Endurance Reduction, when you get a chance--it makes a difference.
I have things set up for each character I play to have a healthy endurance bar (I have end reducs slotted where I can fit them in at this point on that Corr), but it's pretty easy to do that with Blasters compared to some other ATs. -
Hopefully I'll remember on Saturday, too.

Quote:Really? I find Blasters to be quite easy to solo. They can blast through anything in no time flat if you play it right. I also build mine to pick up a decent chunk of defense (about 30% to ranged or S/L, depending on the build), so they don't take too many dings in the short amount of time stuff is kicking. Inspirations and other utility powers help out for the rest.At least we are starting to get some mixed opinions so far ^^ the first half of this thread is simply pro corr :P
As I see it a blaster can do nothing a corr cant, only he does it better ^^
However, a corr will be much easier to solo as they are not dependent on others to protect him all the time, as a Blaster relies on his mates or suffer the consequences of being alone..
Having all this said, I have a hard time figuring out what I actually like the most :P I mean the blaster is great fun, but in some cases broken.. the corr is a little less fun, as I have to worry about using defensive skills aswell, but it means I can take care of myself xD gwarh
What annoys me the most about the Blaster is their Defiance.. The buff it gives is ridiculous I must say, there I said it.. Its way to low, or it last for to short amount of time to actually make a reliable damage difference
I'm still working on getting my Corruptor to higher levels, but my Ice/Storm has a much harder time of it at low levels. He's puffing for endurance and takes a longer time to kill stuff, meaning it's easier for him to get beat up a bit. He's still fun, but I prefer to get him on a team right now. My Blasters... they're good to go solo or on teams from their first level.
As for Defiance, the biggest bonus there is the ability to attack while mezzed. I always miss that when I'm on a Controller, Corruptor, Dom, or Defender (my one Defender is Sonic and is only vulnerable to Sleep, but he gets slept annoyingly often). The damage is just gravy on top of that.
I dunno, you may not notice the damage buff as much when you're teaming, since things are exploding all over, but solo, I know when I have a bit of defiance built up and when I don't. Without the defiance buff, I may have to use an extra attack on a target. With it, they fall sooner. It's not huge, but if it was huge, the balance crowd would rightly complain that Blasters are too strong. Still, it's not that hard to get a boost in the 15-20% range if you're going at a good clip, and I won't begrudge that. -
Quote:It's more like Luke needing to face the dark side. If he buries his head in the sand or let's the heart of the Empire keep going (The Emperor and Darth Vader), the Emperor already has won, as Ben says. Also doesn't it seam strange that Obiwan and Yoda were training Luke to basically be an assassin? They constantly say, "You can't be a jedi unless you face Darth Vader!" Sure, they never say, "You must kill him!" But its heavily implied. And whenever Luke brings up some alternate way of dealing with him, like saving him, they get all... "OZ NOZ he will fail and all is lost!" or "Then the Empire has already PWND us!"
True he wasn't ready to face Darth Vader in Empire, but still I felt the pawn assassin routine constantly being pushed upon him. How light is that?
What you are basically advocating is that the Jedi cannot kill someone ever, which I don't think many of the Jedi would have philosophically agreed with. They can use their abilities in defense and defense of others, and if Luke did not face Vader, he is not protecting others as he should as a Jedi.
Jedi are not about "attacking" but knowledge and defense. What Ben and Yoda say is perfectly in line with that philosophy. -
I like getting in the face of enemies, so melee or visibly affecting foes is the way for me. I've found that I dislike toons that have to focus on buffing too much. So I have a lot of characters that I like, and my favorite ones are the ones that get in the enemy's face.
So... my current most enjoyable toon is an Energy/Energy Blaster. Lots of knockback, able to dish out damage up close and afar... and flashy. Love it. -
Quote:Fire with Electric would make for a more offensive leaning, since Fire Melee is all about the damage without the mitigation. So if you're worried about surviving, go for a set with some KD, stuns, etc. You can still make Elec fairly tough, though (my Fire/Fire does fine, so Elec should work with Fire as well), so it should be okay.Would anyone recommend Fire as the secondary pairing with electric armor? Yes, stone and electric do look like a perfect match but stone is so single target. Paired with fire, the +recharge in electric would give fire pretty constant Fire Sword Circle along with Combustion (And Fire Ball if you if you went Pyre mastery) for those pesky mobs. Plus fire does have some pretty powerful single target attacks with decent recharge speeds along with fire DoT. Fire doesn't have KD though. Not a perfect match but a pretty good one, though i am not an expert on these build mechanics and such i just play with whatever looks fun, what do you guys think?

Quote:On my WP Tank, I fit in Fitness in the 40s just so I could run faster, and to push my Regen higher, both of which helped his playability and performance. Didn't need Stamina at all, though. With the accolades, Quick Recovery, and bonuses, his blue bar does not have any issues.I wonder, would swapping out the Fitness pool in favour of Combat Jumping and Manuevers be a good idea? I mean, the set appears to be somewhat more reliant on Defense than Invulnerability...
I would say Combat Jumping is nice on most tank builds, as it's a cheap toggle for a nice layering of defense to what you have already. Maneuvers is kind of meh. Lot of other powers that would help, I think. Get that defense from Weave, bonuses, Combat Jumping, your primary, etc. -
Thanks, guys.
Sorry the raids didn't work out, but I would guess one had to do with the login server. Some people were fine, but a lot were locked out. Hopefully I will be around for the next one (we should... we're sick of driving in the car, that's for sure). -
Quote:So... starting a discussion of Kinetic Melee is asking people to talk about stuff they can't discuss? Even though there is a decent amount of info out there, not everyone is in beta, and even beta types can discuss what is in these articles? *sighs* What a party pooper.good idea: asking people to talk about stuff they can actually talk about
bad idea: the opposite.
You're so mean, Ele! -
I am curious to see what the merge does to salvage prices (after the initial insanity, of course). I've always liked crafting redside more, as the supplies for salvage were always better/cheaper.
I'm not sure which is better, either. Though it is nice to pick the thing you're wanting. Hopefully the new alignment merits will be nice in that regard for Purples. -
More groovy info in another article. Not sure how much some will like that this came out of an attempt at a "punchy" melee set that a lot of people have wanted. It may be kind of cool (once I see it in action more), but it's not the "street fighting" set that I would have expected from the attempt, that's for sure.
What are all you talkative types thinking? Do you like it? Are you wishing for something else? -
Quote:*jaw drops* Twenty? 2-0? Why are you not sharing these with the world?I am in the fortunate position of having my own SG base with around 500 set IOs stored (including lots of Kinetic Combats, I seem to have been lucky in predicting the love of that set, and have around 20 complete sets) so I am in a position to have a fairly well geared tank.
I've paid through the nose or used a lot of merits to get the few sets I have!
See how sad this makes me? Heh.
Quote:As well as that I was wondering about electric. It looks like a very tight set to build around, no obviously skippable powers, though obviously if defense/res is high enough then power surge could be skippable, also I'm thinking Grounded could be skipped (using IOs for kb resist.
Think I'm grabbing everything else, though. Good use for all the rest, I would think. -
Some new info up on Kinetic Melee here (for those of you like me not yet in beta). No numbers or anything, but you can get a better idea of how the set will work at least.
I think this set is starting to grow on me, actually. The little snippet of video we got before was mildly interesting, but seeing how this will work more is drawing me in. Throwing energy around and KB/KD is always fun.
Only problem now is how to fit it in. I should get another slot from a vet reward soon, and the two (*sigh* ONLY two?) from GR... does not add up enough. Got a Pistols Blaster and Elec Brute concept lined up, but I'd love to give TA a go again and Electric Control and now... this. Woe is me. -
Whatever they were doing must have closed off how the forums contact our account status, at least, that's all I can figure.
