Discussion thread for next run of Isolators - weekly sg group w/ "open" "membership"
I'm so there.
Seriously.
I'm joining with my Kinetic Melee Scrapper!
Going to have to look at most peoples levels. A few will be hitting 50 in the next week or two, thought most people were a bit behind that...

Rock, rock on Hamster.
I'd be interested in joining an Isolators team, it would be my first, and I am usually free on Wednesdays. My only concern is that I don't get off work until 7:30 eastern, so rushing home to get on I still might be a couple minutes late. Probably no more then 10-15 minutes late, but I feel it is worth mentioning.
And I think that, considering the timing, they should do GR content. The only thing with that, is how many people would not be able to play because it was required that they have a paid expansion that they are not able to, or did not plan on getting?
If there are any requirements, like themed powers, names, costumes, whatever, please let me know.
@Incarnadine - 50s on Victory:
Electric-Boogaloo (Electric/Psy Dominator) | Floating Flame (Fire/Psy Blaster) | Guldo Golem (Stone/Mace Tanker) | Hornak (Elec/Elec Brute) | Insatiable Greed (Demon/Dark Mastermind) | Solar Explorer (Plant/Thermal Controller) | TimeTraveler (Kin/Ice Defender) | Verranil (Emp/Archery Defender)
Being late isn't really an issue. Teams are generally made to allow room for late-comers.
Theme and concept is the biggest draw for Isolators. Cat-names and cat-costumes generally get you first booking.
Other than that, no, do what you want.
I've already forgotten about most of you
Late comers are only a concern if there's a significant number of late comers.
Say we have 16 people online at 8 pm. We'll generally form three teams (two of five and one of six), which would give us room for eight late comers. If no one comes on late we'll consolidate down to two teams at 8:30ish. Now, if we have 10 people sign on late, then I get angry and kick Voodoo from a team to make room for someone.

Litter Box
Hairball Man/Girl
Scooter
I have a special one for Voo but I think it might be too long.

Well, at this point we are 6 weeks away from the first session of isos post GR (assuming Aug. 17 release date). As far as I can tell, most of the more consistent players will hit 50 within the next 1-3 sessions.
I would like to wait till GR drops so we can start out in Praetoria. New stuff, zones, etc. But as it's been pointed out, those who don't buy the expansion will be left out. (At least till the 3rd session..)
We can always run SFs to fill the couple weeks prior to GR release (Dunno about the rest of you, but this isos toon can use the merits). Yeah, I know, people who show up late...Run a few missions, then start the SF at 8:30. Fill as needed from the globals and broadcast.
Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.
My vote, for all the tremendous weight it carries, is to wait until GR drops before starting Isos IX. My current toon is close to 47, so even missing this week and next week I should finish in two sessions.
Agua Man lvl 48 Water/Electric Blaster
"To die hating NCSoft for shutting down City of Heroes, that was Freedom."
I vote not to wait for GR. It does not currently contain enough to sustain a full ISO run. I find it unlikely they can release enough new stuff between now and August to fill the gap.

When Soldiers of Arachnos got their names added to the Destiny List, Longbow managed to get a copy of the list and began rounding villains up. But one name on the list shocked them...

I don't much care one way or the other. Isos tends to blast through content, so we wouldn't really notice much of the new stuff, I'm thinking. I'd rather work on my Grav/Kin Controller or something if we didn't wait, though maybe I could find another character that I enjoy if we waited.
If we do wait, I like the idea of running Strike Forces and such. My villains are all merit-starved. I also wouldn't mind having my Corruptor or Dominator join a week or two. They're both in the late teen blues before Stamina, and I'd love to get them up to 20. So I guess I'm fine waiting or starting pre-Going Rogue.
Didn't we have an Isos start that was near the beginning of an issue before, and people either re-rolled new characters or something? We could do that.
FYI, I'll be out of Isos once September kicks in and my night class starts. I'll be able to play over the winter break again, but it's another night class in the spring, too. *sighs* So I won't be in for much no matter what we do.

Would you wait until the release of CoV to start a villain side run of ISOs if you knew that COV was only going to be Mercy, PO and Cap at launch?

But you have to look not just at the new content, but the new options available people might (and will) be interested in. New powersets are big, but people could now choose any AT they want, and not feel limited to stay with just Heroes or Villains.
I consider myself a support based player, my current goal is to have a high level, if not 50, of every support power set in the game (kin, rad, ect). I'm kindof thinking a sonic character for my iso toon, but I've tried sonic controllers and they have major end problems, and its a power set I don't want every power of so I dont necessarily want it to be my primary, so my best option is corrupter. GR would give me the chance to do that with the next Iso run, and not to have to settle on something I do not want to play.

I vote to wait. Can't play my brute blueside without waitin...
<sigh> Viv says its no longer "all me".

Assuming Electric Control gets a Dominator version, that might be fun as well (I like Controllers, but hate how you really have to team until you get pets... and I do like having the option to solo when needed).
So yeah... GR is about more than just those 1-20 levels, even if MG is right and that's all the mission type content we get with GR.

I vote we wait until December when I get back from this hell hole! :P

We'll probably be ready for Iso10 then.

Rock, rock on Hamster.
I've never done Isolators before, but I've wanted to give it a try for a while now. Sounds like fun.
At this point I've decided on an archery/trick arrow corrupter, need TA to add to my collection of support types, and I have a build that will end up being debuff-debuff-rain of arrows-repeat, without purples. Really looking forward to this one. Really looking forward to playing with new costume pieces and all that, but this toon will be ready to go whenever the isolator run starts.

Current run of Isolators will be finishing soon. Maybe four to six more weeks until the fun red side of Isos V.8 is finished.
Question is.... V.9. Go to blue side immediately? Wait a week or three and hope GR drops on schedule and do V.9 there?
Anyone who hasn't taken part in Isolators interested in joining the coming restart?

For those unfamiliar with the group, Isolators was started shortly after badges were introduced to the game. This was in the dark, dreary times before global chat, global tells, or even coalition chat. Back then, the only way to find a person from the forums was by chance or pre-arranged meeting.
The Isolators project was started so the people who post here in Victory could actually meet and play together, so that you could have some fun with the people you chat with online. Everyone made a new character for this new group. This is an once a week supergroup that plays every 8 pm Wednesdays.
When the vast majority of the group hits 50, we start a new run of the group, switching between CoH and CoV between runs.
You don't have to be an active forum poster to join, through it's encouraged. At the very least, be a member of the community; run missions, join in advertised task forces, etc.
If you're interested in joining up this run, please feel free to post interest here. Everyone is welcome.
A few notes:
Everyone is welcome.
Not everyone is welcome.
This is an once a week sg. If the group ends up at level 20 at the end of the night, please don't show up next week at level 25.
If you're a few levels behind due to playing less, don't sweat it, but try to catch up on your own or with a task force if you can.
We play 8 pm eastern on Wednesdays.
