Discussion thread for next run of Isolators - weekly sg group w/ "open" "membership"
I'll join with a new low-level toon, either Scrapper or a Brute since I so rarely play either.
205723: A Different DESTINY
When Soldiers of Arachnos got their names added to the Destiny List, Longbow managed to get a copy of the list and began rounding villains up. But one name on the list shocked them...
Why would you think that they cannot leave Praetoria? The official information is you do level 1-20 content that will pick your Praetorian alignment (Resistance or Loyalist) and when you finish the Praetoria zones you go to the alignment appropriate for what you were in Praetoria...Resistance is Hero, Loyalist is Villain.
People seem confused that this is like CoV when they released 1-40 content and later went back and did 41-50, while they may expand on Praetoria later, it is going to be 1-20 and then you leave.
@Incarnadine - 50s on Victory:
Electric-Boogaloo (Electric/Psy Dominator) | Floating Flame (Fire/Psy Blaster) | Guldo Golem (Stone/Mace Tanker) | Hornak (Elec/Elec Brute) | Insatiable Greed (Demon/Dark Mastermind) | Solar Explorer (Plant/Thermal Controller) | TimeTraveler (Kin/Ice Defender) | Verranil (Emp/Archery Defender)
It has, but I don't remember where, I think I saw it in one of the videos of PAX or something.
Loyalist means you serve Cole and his empire, since these are the guys that are constantly invading Paragon City, started the Rikti War, ect, it makes sense that they would be the villains.
Keep in mind, you are not tied to this choice at all, like everyone else you will be able to switch alignments as many times as you want, if you do the missions we dont know much about yet.

I will miss the next few runs. Work is running long and I'll be in Peru a week as well.

Ok, we got some issues w/ GR:
You can't apparently join a blue side supergroup until level 20.
People sub level 20 who are still in Pretoria are, well, stuck there. This will cause problems for people who lag behind.
I'm thinking we might want to reconsider starting in Petoria.

With Isos, how long will it take to get out of Praetoria? Two sessions? Three? Late starters can either join with a fresh blue side toon and be restricted to blue ATs like common trolls, or they can PL through the path of righteousness in Praetoria and make whatever they want (except Khelds or VEATs).
I think it would be a shame to waste the new beginning game experience by skipping it with Isos.

Limey here.
Peeeeels here.
I am debating this. I am. You scoundrels.
But of course I may be wounded by crappy work schedules. As 9 ESt is about.... 2 am for me.
Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

I think the Family Guy reference may have flown over MG a bit.
Anyway, not to be off-topic (heaven forefend), is the next isos starting the day after GR is supposed to drop (Aug. 18)? Based on the blue side reference, I'm assuming we are going to be part of the resistance.
Hamster- is the whole SG issue more of an organizational issue? i.e assigning teams, seeing who is online, etc? If so, can a stub SG be made in Praetoria to cover the first couple of sessions? I haven't kept up with the reading so I don't know if you can make a SG there.
BTW, wasn't Petoria dissolved at the end of the episode? We couldn't start there if we wanted to...
Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven.
I may be interested in creating a character over on Victory to get in on this. One question (and it's not really a deciding factor, more of a curiosity), do the members usually try to avoid playing the characters away from the group in order to keep the levels as in-sync as possible?

Flux; not a bad idea. Not like we need that much storage pre-level 20. Still a slight concern about if we have half the sg above 20 and the other half before.
Garielle; Try to encourage people to stick to the average/target level. So if you're behind and want to catch up, go for it. Mainly want to avoid having the entire sg log off at level 30 on Wednesday and a person levels up to 45 before next week. Makes it harder to synch up missions/skill levels. Also from past experience, the people who "cheat" like mad between sessions always drop out of the group anyways due to boredom.

I got no dogs in this fight, but here's my $1.50

This kind of group is NOT the best to really get behind the "experience", unless you just mean to blow through it and say you did it, kind of. You can't read the missions/details, or even really "explore".
IMO, the new "world" is not group friendly, at least the first time, if you really care about the *content*. Both blue and red side have been done ad nauseam, but you still can't do everything on either side as a team; it gets outleveled way too easily. There is a lot of stuff in GR/Praetoria, and it's no exception.

And let's face it, Tonto set the bar for "cheating" way back when, and no one has ever come close to that abhorrent travesty.
I've already forgotten about most of you
You first ask how fast the group will GET THROUGH the experience, and then say it'd be a shame to skip it with Isolators......
|
Obviously to deeply explore the new beginning game it's best to solo or do it in small groups. People in Isos won't be prevented from doing this by playing together once a week.

No. That's why I quoted two things. If you had different meanings behind different statements, so be it.
That just makes you a charlatan and a liar |
He was responding to Satantic Hamster's statement that Isos may not want to start in Praetoria. When taken in context with the rest of what he was saying, it looks like when says "skip it with isos" he means for isos to skip it and not take advantage of it as a starting point.
So while I can see both sides of this very clearly, I have to think it's more of a case of not communicating clearly than being self-contradictory.

Otherwise, it's more of a case I'm pointing out his contradictions and interjecting my slight annoyance at the expansion as a whole (for this and other reasons).
As I said, I have no dog in the fight regarding what Shamster makes up to do for the next Isolators.
And with anything I reply with, make sure to throw in as many anywhere and as often as you like. I'm usually too lazy to put them in as often as they should be.

Hmmm. That's a good point. I would mind doing an elec/elec dominator.

Hmmmm. You know, I really need to sign into beta.
How do supergroups work in Petoria? Can you join a supergroup while in there?
