Mid's File/Installation Issues?

Anyone know if there are any current issues with the Mid's file you can download? I have a new laptop that runs Windows 7, and I can't get Mid's to install on it: it runs into an error accessing the file or some such once it starts the installation process (so after I tell it where to place the program, etc.).

I can throw this up on the Tech forums if needed, but I thought it might get some other eyes here that know more about Mid's and the Titan Network stuff.

I think the roommate ran into the same problem with his Win7 system and rather than try to make it work, he's just using the online planner available at the same site. I know its not a solution, but its another option until you get Mids working.

Right click the installer, run as admin.

Ah, brilliant. That worked. Out of curiousity, why do you have to do that with Windows 7?

No idea, I am not a programmer. Most apps ask to run as admin while this one needs to be told to run as admin, but hey, as long as it works in the end!

I've heard that, but I often wonder why other installers automatically ask to elevate while Mid's must be told to do so.

Dunno. But if I had to guess, I'd say it has to do with the fact that Mids' himself originally coded the program for Windows XP, and in order to bypass the problem, the Titan Mids' Crew would probably have to rebuild it from the ground up.

You only need to "run as admin" if you have UAC turned on. UAC is the cause of the "admin" issue when installing Mids', so blame Microsoft.

That's... weird. UAC is User Account Control, is it not? Seems like I should be counted as an admin that way with anything I open up. Oh well, good to remember.

Hey Ston3y, is there a reason the installer doesn't automatically ask to elevate like pretty much every other installer does?
edit: not that it matters, I've just often wondered.
