You knew it was going to happen...

On a more serious (in a joke costume piece thread? How obtuse!), take the Brain Tank design, remove the bowl and instead put a kitten infront of tiny lever controls (or failing that, a keyboard). Call it the Catmando head piece.

This kind of thing would be great for a 'and now for something completely different...' type pack where it's not really a theme or a set but just full of weird individual costume pieces.
or splice those together, and have a literal Fish Tank. Jar full of water, with a small fish in it (maybe with a headset/controls for the suit.) Ok, now I know I've seen that somewhere before, where am I cribbing that from?

  4. So I finally got my old En/EM/Force onto the incarnate ladder, and I found myself unable to choose:

    1) Musculature for more damage

    2) Cardiac for more end.

The situation is a partly (due to inf) IO'd character, usually running CJ/Acro/TI as toggles, doing a mix of all content (solo, team and trials.) Now solo, I'd been having end issues occasionally, but this does raise a question.

Does the extra damage from Musculature balance out against the extra endred from Cardiac, in a more DPA/DPEnd kind of way? Also, must admit, liking the idea of the extra 20% range, but not sure how useful it is with boost range nearly perma. I have no recharge issues either, so it comes down to which will make my life simpler.

Thoughts from people who've been down this road?
  5. And of course it went live. None of the actual concerns were even paid lip service to.

We had the same argument with Steampunk, and it all stemmed from the Magic Pack, when it transpired that there's really a whole lot of people who wanted the Baron Jacket for their female characters. In fact, around the time of the steampunk thing, it was acknowledged on the ustream that people felt this way, and they'd look at the issue in future.

Guess they looked at the issue, wadded it up and filed it in the round file, as exactly the same mistakes regarding the female costume have been made. Again.

It's appreciated there's a certain amount of lead time involved in making costume pieces, but the whole thing is starting to look a tad silly now. We know there's this big hoohah about equal numbers of parts for each body type, but this smacks of the people doing the basic design either not being told or not caring what the players think, and the subject only being mentioned when it's too late to change matters. Gods I hope it's just that they weren't told.
  6. I went Nerve, to help make sure all my pets were actually hitting in trials. Obviously, YMMV.

    Step 1: Forget it.
  9. Aded to the fun. After Samuraiko asked her video question: "Please do some more so I don't have to keep making them all the time." From the peanut Gallery at the back drifts "or hire her."

The crunch of fist meeting face was strangely satisfying, as Paradox Eight, controlling the Paradox Helix Battleframe, plunged through the mass of Hellions. The armour surrounded her like a skin, feeding data directly into her sensorium, co-processors synthesising all the combat data into other sensory streams. Sight, Sound, Hearing, Taste, Smell, Tactical radar and Ultrasound, exotics, mass, energy, Tac Net and database feed. Fighting in the Paradox Helix was like being unto a God. Everything she could ever want to know, see, or call upon to help her fight better was hers, at a thought, down the ansible links. Stronger, faster, smarter, these were no mere words, these were the concepts she lived.

Noting an external temperature rise, P-8 turned, her fist and foot in sequence smashing one of the Damned off his feet, even as he tried to incinerate her. Which, she thought a trifle smugly, was a bit rash. The PHB was rated up to blast furnace temperatures, a little fire was nothing. Efficiently, with an economy of motion and energy that would have had major martial artists applauding, she put the rest of the Hellions down. An easy test.

The knowledge then entered her brain of a robbery in progress, some eight or nine blocks away. Stepping out of the circle of now unconscious Hellions, she leapt, the PHB automatically kicking in its inertial compensators, a mighty leap to the nearest rooftop. She made her way from rooftop to rooftop, leaping huge gaps with ease, moving faster across the tops than a sprinter could have across the street. The PHB gave her this without flinching, without even pausing to gather itself. She could feel herself grinning, the sheer exhilaration of being able to move so fast, so far, so free, unburdened by limitations. Joy in motion. She had the freedom of choice here, the ability to do as she wanted, to set aside everything else, and simply revel in her abilities. Coming off the final roof, she dropped to the street in front of the group of very surprised robbers, the PHB amplifying her war cry so that it resounded off the surrounding buildings, as she invited them to “come and get some.”

    Elsewhere

A room, somewhat like a hospital room, but more personal, more homey. The walls were made up of monitors, showing telemetry, although the various machines here had never had their genesis in any place of medicine. The bed was occupied, a small woman, perhaps 25, with close-cropped brown hair, lying inert. A wheelchair sat by the bed, waiting to be used. Cables ran from plugs in the back of her neck to a bank of computers and ansible coms. Wired into the room and its systems, Jennifer Morgan, paraplegic, cybernetics system designer, was in no sense here. Her perceptions were of the PHB, fed back to her brain in this room by ansible links, instantaneous quantum response. Paradox Eight was Jenny Morgans own brand of freedom. Freedom from herself.

    Obligatory legal stuff:

    Longer Bios

As a roleplayer, I have to say I find myself keeping Bios short, to the point, and often deliberately vague, which sounds odd until you consider that what's going in there is the public info that people would have heard. There's no reason that anyone IC would know the full backstory until they were told it IC, so I don't waste time typing it there. I mean, consider how long it sometimes takes to explain to people that no, your name is NOT floating above your head IC, trying to explain that no, all that backstory isn't actually available to anyone who isn't actually intimate with the character is an exercise in frustration.

We don't think it's quite that bad, but it is somewhat annoying. Current testing suggests that it's only tracking villain confirmations since the change went in.

THIS. I'm getting rather sick of the people whining that they don't want big swords in Titan Weapons because that would be too much JRPGwhaawhaa. Guess what, people want big swords, regardless of the JRPG'ness of the blades, or not.
  18. and also got my points. No sign of my reward token yet (celestial, here I come) but that shouldnt be long.

This is probably the point. There's no way in hades I'd let ANYONE near my awesome hair with anything, so the contest itself is a moot point for me.

The issue has become that, whether or not (I rather suspect not) Paragon intended it this way, the EU customers have had the resoundly short end of the stick of late. We all know the reasons, some of them even make sense, but between downtimes pretty much consistently being in EU peak hours, the server list merge global name fiasco (and yes, some of us are still pretty sore, I don't think the NA person with my global name even plays any more, I've been trying to make contact,) a whole bunch of contests we can't enter (we all know the jurisdictional reasons, but surely judicious choosing of contests and prizes minimises that,) and, as much as people like Zwil, Freitag, Avatea, etc are always nice and friendly and supportive of us (kudos peeps, kudos,) we're simply left feeling like second class citizens. Which we were promised we wouldn't be.

This whole thing's been building since the forum merge and the shift of all the EU community staff to the US. We're starting to feel sidelined and marginalised, and that should be ringing alarm bells somewhere.

This isn't about a competition, as much as it's about "Hey guys, there's an actual problem here."

I don't care what his excuse is for why people had to die. I support your logic, and refer you to the immortal words of Jamil Neate:

"When a man strays from the right path, a kind man needs the courage to raise his fist and correct him."

I also think that slapping some sense into him would have been good, as it's a proven technique:
