  1. Nice... I'll definitely be keeping my eye on that tech, seems like it has a lot of potential benefit. Thanks for all the info everyone, more than I was expecting

The GTX 260 pretty much does UM Medium-High without any issues (Some might even be able to squeeze some Very high settings out of it if they try). So it's entirely up to you whether you'd like to go above that or not
Yeah, I'll probably upgrade the video card within a year or so, but don't feel it's as pressing an issue as of yet. Thanks!

    Quote:
Well, the more recent versions of the cards (460 and 5xx range) support DirectX11 and OpenGL 4.1 as bare minimum spec.

Not to mention as well that if you use CUDA, you will notice a perfomance increase between the older and newer cards.
Other than what I quickly gleaned from a Google search, I've never heard and don't quite understand this CUDA of which you speak.
  3. I figured the generational gap would be there, but... have there been any significant improvements in those two years? Again, as far as the graphics card is concerned, I've not been noticing it's limitations yet. I'd rather not have to replace EVERYTHING if I can avoid it.
  4. Hmmm, interesting point on the memory. I'll look into a better "fit."

Edit: This is looking good actually. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231309
If I'm going to be using all four slots, I might as well get the most for it. I know that's overkill for 95% of gaming, but that's not the reason for the upgrade anyway. A nice perk though :P

I was pretty sure the only UM issue was the GPU, but wanted to be sure, thanks! I didn't have any plans on upgrading that at this point. I'm working with a "1 x EVGA 896-P3-1260-AR GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card" I don't know where that ranks with current tech, but it's met my needs to now.
  5. So... I'm a CG artist who has been looking to upgrade for some time now. 4 GBs of RAM just isn't cutting it... and even CoH is lagging behind. So here is what I have my eye on:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.596005

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231358

My concern is the compatibility of what I'm considering above with City of... specifically Ultra Mode. I've been able to enjoy UM slightly on my current build, but want to be sure that I'm not missing something in my quest for "MOAR POWER!" I truly don't know enough of the tech to know what is and is not an issue for CoH at this point. Any advice or feedback would be welcome!
  6. Thanks for this! I had been told that it had some measurable effect on his Unstoppable, but watch his numbers, there were zero changes in any of his stats upon using the temp.

Good to know what it is actually doing.

Side note: This makes me even more sad at how half-***** this TF seems in comparison to the villain-side content.
  7. The Strike Pack isn't a "Booster Pack," it's the 19.5 issue... so you have it.

    Info.

EDIT: Unless the real numbers lie.
There are zero ways to buff a self-rez now. As a couple of posters have mentioned above, you could easily have a Rage/Fury saturated character use RotP (for example) for MASSIVE damage... Soul Transfer would be an instant stun for everything in the area... a stronger mag and duration than any controller/dominator could bring to the table... ever.

This just wouldn't work as is.
  9. I love Supernatural. I love anime. Seeing an anime based on an American show (featuring a Japanese cover of Kansas)... where the show deals with 90% Western mythology? Uh... so confused right now...
  10. What rather interests me is... what will happen to the Kheldian inherent powers on a 48-player team?!? I'd imagine the buffs we could get from that would likely cap ALL attributes (res, damage, mez protection AND recharge debuffs). Am I wrong in thinking this?

Seems like we seen it all in the trailer...
Think about each individual pattern and piece, then multiplied across three skeletons. You'd have pretty dang close to 60 at that point, I'd assume.

    my money is ready...
My bet on the number "60" has to do with the same costume pieces being applied to all three skeleton types. With five different heads, several tails, patterns and a few monstrous feet (even a costume change emote)... that sounds about right, actually...

This is what I was talking about by -fly resistance. Can't believe I remembered the nova but not combat flight. Sheesh.

@Dechs and Jersey - thanks for the compliments, and I very much DO consider it a team effort between Dechs and me. Wouldn't have gotten very far with out Dech's sheets or his math checking!

I'm currently playing around with the spreadsheets to try and come up with some reasonable suggestions. I'm closest right now to a suggestion for Photon Seekers that might just close the damage gap between the two considerably without violating the cottage rule, but I want to consider a few alternatives first before posting.
I just wish the numbers somehow incontrovertibly proved that Solar Flare being changed to knockdown would be a massive benefit. I know there are plenty of other issues with PBs, some far more important... but man do I hate it's PBAOE KB nature...

That and having Solar Flare and the Dwarf's version of the power requiring you to be on the ground, when the inherent travel of one is flight, the other teleportation (which forces several seconds of hovering) is just... horrible.
  14. Wow... I actually read teammates where it says "teams."

    Carry on...
  15. Am I the only one that isn't reading "50 runs," but in fact 50 teammates who haven't run it yet? That's really a much more reasonable number... and makes a heck of a lot more sense. 8 to 10 runs if you're teamed with mostly WST "newbs," which really don't have to be done all at once...

    Thanks!
I just checked on this last night. Hover, Combat Flight and Nova forms all have the same -fly resistance. The in-game details show this as mag 4 fly (unresistable). Fly has mag 1. I didn't think to check what the magnitude of typical -fly powers was, but yeah... any hover/Nova variant has the most -fly resist you can get in the game.

A nova's flight mitigation is superior to the human's for that reason.
    <--snip-->
Combat Flight does in fact have -fly resistance. The change was introduced when it was added to Hover a while back. I don't know what the numbers are, so Nova's still might be better.

    Ice Armor

It does have debuffs to reduce incoming damage, but the mitigation from them does not make up for the weaknesses of the set.

If you want to play it, go ahead. Any Tanker set can perform the role required of a Tanker. Teammates' buffs, your playstyle, and strategy can help overcome numerical disadvantages of any set.
Not sure I could disagree more. Ice Armor is far from the worst. Ice is an aggro king, and works wonders with a tightly-packed mob or two. You're almost completely immune to slows (I don't even noticed Knives of Artemis and their caltrop patches). Energy Absorption is an amazing endurance recovery tool AND a way to get yourself high over the softcap, which typically negates whatever the DDR can't handle.

It is true that whatever makes it through will hit pretty hard, but picking up Tough will help with that somewhat. You also have the best combat rest in the game (gets you back to full health/end before your aggro wears off) and a nice HP+ power for the tough situations.

Some active damage mitigation (KDs, Stuns, Etc...) will add to your survivability. As has been mentioned, that added -Dam in KM will be nice (there's an -11% Dam in Chilling Embrace). Throw on Darkest Night in the PPP, and you'd be pretty golden.
  19. It would be helpful to know what you want out of the build... /FF is pretty team-friendly, but Ill/ can be great for soloing OR teaming... so what are you looking to accomplish, exactly?
  20. You can also, if I recall correctly, use the same trick to redirect traffic to a different website altogether. Have all of her favorite sites get pointed to.. say, these forums.

Then when she asks, just say you've "reconfigured your computer for gaming." It's the truth, and accomplishes what you wanted :P
  21. You could also just... require a password log in to your computer...

Sounds like a daunting task, but... it might be a really interesting data point that would speak to KB as a mitigation tool in general. With Peacebringers relying pretty heavily on KB (at least as the AT is designed) as they do/are supposed to, it'd be interesting to see if design intent is actually translating into an actual, in-game benefit.
  23. What kind of animation is associated with it? Just the standard awaken?
  24. Ignore me, beaten to the punch nearly a page ago...

Still, Vaughn's passion is at least a little encouraging.
  25. Haha, a colleague mentioned "oh, he's just lived longer... thus he's simply dated more."

Tis barely an excuse, in my book :P
