Supernatural The Animation

I guess Warner Brothers felt that Japan (sorry for you people who hate Japanese animation character art) has enough of a fan base for a cartoon to be made of their hit show Supernatural, being done by Madhouse. It's going to be 22 episodes and will cover the story line from the first 2 seasons. It will also have additional side stories not shown in the live action version.

It was initially announced that Jared (Sam) and Jensen (Dean) would only provide their voices for the last 2 episodes. The Japanese voice actors who dub the live action will do the voices for this anime though. No US release announcement was made but the DVDs and Blu-Ray would have English subtitles, I think.

A few days ago WB of Japan said that Jared will do all 22 episodes. Jensen won't, but will still do the last 2 Episodes. (according to amazon.co.jp the other 20 episodes will be done by someone named Andrew Farrar) Rumor has it that there will be a US DVD release, but there is no official announcement.

Trailers (in Japanese not English)

Amazon.co.jp page (mostly in English)

I have to admit that I had interest in this show but never watched it. Till I saw the trailers for the Animation about a month ago . I've seen all of the first season and have the 2nd one in my Netflix queue. Sucks that Netflix doesn't have the 2nd season on BD though...

edit: fixed a few things that sounded odd, added links, etc.

Would it be terribly sad of my to admit that when I watched Supernatural, it was just because Jensen Ackles is hot?

Sorry lil anime, No pretties, no watchy.

So they're just re-doing the first 2 seasons? Lame.

This is a shame. It is currently the best show on TV, bar none. It took them about half a season to find their feet, but once they did... wow. And when the incredible Ben Edlund came on board and Sera Gamble hit her stride, it really took off. The season finale of season 5 was easily one of the best episodes of television I've seen, but it only carries that weight if you've seen the rest of the show. But tying together the concept of family obligation, the apocalypse, war between Heaven and Hell and having the audacious courage to carve out your own path in life is quite a feat. And to have it all hinge on a '67 Chevy is just unexpected brilliance.

Heehee I will admit that is why I started to watch Supernatural, but then I really enjoy the show, so this might be something to pick up. To date I have not missed any episodes of Supernatural and I have the first 4 seasons on dvd. Isn't it ironic that I don't speak or understand Japanese but since I actually watch the show I understood for the most part what they were talking about in the trailer.

Ana and I love Supernatural. It's one of my favorite shows of all time.

I don't know if I'd actually watch an anime redoing of the episodes I've already seen or not, but it is an interesting idea.

Of course, it may just take me seeing the first episode to want to watch it all.

I love Supernatural. I love anime. Seeing an anime based on an American show (featuring a Japanese cover of Kansas)... where the show deals with 90% Western mythology? Uh... so confused right now...

I entered the forum, accidently hit back, and in the quick second before it actually went back, I read the thread title as "Supernatural: The Abomination." I was ready to go on a rampage telling you why you are wrong, and why the show is awesome. Then I read the thread, realized it wasn't what I thought, and somehow ended back up at "Abomination"... But I've yet to find anime I can like. I think I heard about this a while back, and was meh on it then.

No. Not at all. But ironically enough, him being on the show was one of the reasons I waited to long to start watching. Not because he wasn't awesome, but because at the time, he was on the worst season of Smallville (which is saying a lot), and I was having a hard time back then separating him from the suck of the show. I started watching it in between season 3 and 4 I think, and caught up just in time for the opening of season 4, and... yeah, wow, good stuff, some of the best stuff I've seen on television. Ever.

But I have no interest in a Supernatural anime. Especially without Jensen "Eye of the Tiger" Ackles. Or Jensen "Batman" Ackles.

Ok, I'll stop now.

More Jensen Ackles please.

I also loved him in Dark Angel.
I may have a small crush on him, just don't tell my husband.

I've never seen Dark Angel, worth watching (for him)?

That episode is about a "lucky' rabbit's foot which gives you incredible luck... until you lose it, give it away or someone takes it from you. Then you die horribly. And both brothers get it then lose it in that episode, which made it both hysterically funny and really scary.

Yes and it is a pretty good show, sucks that it got canceled. It stars Jessica Alba and Michael Wetherly (DiNozo, sorry about spelling from, NCIS) Jensen doesn't make an appearance right away, I believe half way through the first season, but I don't remember, but after that he is a regular.

Cas has some truly fantastic 1 liners...

"This isn't funny Dean! The voice says I'm almost out of minutes."
*To Lucifer* "Hey! A**butt." *throws molotov cocktail*
*Voicemail* "You have reached the voicemail of: 'I don't understand... why do you want me to say my name?'"
"Are you drunk?" "No. Yes." "What happened to you?" "I found a liquor store." "And?" "I drank it."

" I don't know. I just looked at her in the eyes and told her it wasn't her fault that her father Gene ran off. It was because he hated his job at the post office"

"Maybe one day. But today you're *my* little [censored]. "

"[after downing five shots] I Think I'm starting to feel something"

"This isn't funny, Dean! The voice says I'm almost out of minutes!
"

"I learned that from the pizza man. "

In response to Dean saying God might be in New Mexico on a tortilla: "No, he's not on any flatbread. "

Castiel is awesome!

Even after Supernatural ends it's run, and it's been a great run so far, I'd love a Castiel spin-off show.

Maybe Cas and Bobby? Or if Jim Beaver is tired of the character, how about Cas travelling the country helping people with Victor French?

If the CW wasn't so focused on creating shows around people 30 and under I'd love to see a show made around Rufus and Bobby. The episode this season that focused on these two was great...and Rufus was AWESOME in it in a comedic way.

Course I don't see that ever happening, maybe if they get around to making a spinoff they can shoot for the Wild west one about Sam Colt they wanted to do a few years back.

The one with Sam Colt would be awesome. Even as a one shot movie.

Maybe Tommy Lee Jones as Sam, with another hunter with a different cultural perspective on the supernatural, maybe Benecio Del Toro or Lenny James. Misha Collins would have to play Castiel, even in a cameo.

Of course, they promised long ago to reveal why the boys are from Lawerence, Kansas (possibly one of the most supernatural places on earth) and why they're named Winchester (having to do with the curse on the Winchester family who made the guns) and they've not really touched on either.
