Day I leave PvP here, is the day i leave the game.
[ QUOTE ]
*Not read the original post at all*
Leaving PvP because of social things? People like that are pathetic for actually letting other people get to them.
1. They win for getting you to leave.
2. You are letting people over the internet effect your enjoyment, this is sad and you shouldn't let it happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Basically agree with this totally
Oh and I believe I joined your team while that smack talk was occuring archelon, to be honest i would just ignore it completely and get on with opening a can of wtpfwnage on these tools
[/ QUOTE ]
My approach is now, and will continue to be: Petition the person, then ignore it and get on with opening cans of whatsits (not that I open cans of whatsits very often - I'm too busy running away like a scared little girlie man all the time apparently)

Shannon is right, but if I have a couple spare blues on me i will stay in wit hthe AV as I have such a good Unsoppable crash, its a risk but it hasn't failed me yet
[/ QUOTE ]
Give it time, anyone who knows me, knows i actually have no intention of showing off how good i can crash in a fight, the risk is always there and luck always isnt, a five second block yourself compared to a "ress me please?" with an AV standing over you is much better, ressing people at an AV's feet is a bad thing, some defenders do try to res in a panic only to see the person accept and getwiped again however a res to pull away whilst floating does work sometimes. In i7 tanking will get easier alot easier and so will the infight crash just pop lucks.

How long before they nerf lucks?

Issue 7
"The modification to PvE critter accuracy coming in Issue 7 has been balanced with defense inspiration values of 5/7.5/10% in mind. Defense inspirations of these values have been used in all internal Cryptic tests since January 2006"

I'm a hurdle addict so I generally go with that, apart from my stone tank which has swift out of necessity
-
I don't miss them all that much, but then again I've been soloing for the most part. On the occasions I've been on large teams I've found that I'm perfectly fine if there's good healing/buffing/debuffing support. Facing reds/purples I tended to faceplant a bit because of the aggro I was drawing with my aoes and quills. With good support that was less of an issue. On medium teams and against yellows and oranges I'm pretty self sufficient. If I was looking to improve my survivability I wouldn't go the passives route anyway - I'd do the same as I did with my Inv tanker and pick up Aid Self.

I like the idea of the mace but I'm not keen on the model.
Generalissimo_2 I'm surprised to see that you soloed for 75 percent of the time. I soloed a lot when i first played the game but try to avoid it now. Is your approach common?
Doc
[/ QUOTE ]
It's only common amongst the anti-social
I'm not really anti-social, I just tend to enjoy soloing more and build all my characters to be able to solo e.g. Illusion/Kinetics controller soloed about 75% of the time on my way to 50, two scrappers soloed almost exclusively to the low 30's and then teamed a little more in the mid-30's, my latest project a Forcefield defender soloed almost all the way to lvl 18 so far. I do enjoy teaming occasionally and am quite capable of adding good value to a team with my tanker, controller and spines scrapper but soloing is more my thing. -
It depends what you want to do with your tanker. If you want to contribute a lot to the team damage dealing ability then mace isn't a good choice. If you want to hold aggro and control the mobs a little through knockback and disorient then mace is fine. I took my mace tank to 50 (soloing about 75% of the time) so even though the damage isn't great it's not all that bad either.

Solid build but as a spine regen you wont need 3 recharge slots in revive, hopefullySo I would go 1 end mod and maybe 1 recharge if you have spare slots.
Also considering your taking hasten at level 49 I really would recomend giving more love to lunge to give you more of an attack chainslot it 3 damage taking one from Health, Fast healing and Resilience.
I would also consider putting accuracies in quills but I havent had much experience of spines so maybe they arent needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
not sure what you mean about the slotting in lunge there.
about hasten bare in mind that it is in the end of the game and i havent started the toon yet, trying to come up with a build that could go from nill to 50 rather smoothly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lunge has a base recharge of 4 seconds
Spine Burst has a base recharge of 16 seconds
Impale has a base recharge of 8 seconds
With your proposed slotting the attack you'll be using most often in the low to mid levels is the one you're slotting the least. If I'm going to be using a power that often I'd like to see it doing a little better damage. To me, your proposed slotting has the look of a build respecced into at a high level, when lunge isn't such a major part of the attack chain. -
If you can fit in Dull Pain nice and early too your life as a tanker will be a lot easier.
-
You may want to consider pushing a couple of slots into your basic attack chain a little earlier - getting to lvl 26 and Ripper looks like it'll require a little patience with your current slotting.
-
It happened a short while before you came in Super Heroine. Words were said, opinions were exchanged, petitions were sent...

I've been PvPing a fair bit with my spines/inv in Sirens and I've been enjoying it immensely. I've been following a mostly PvE oriented build while levelling up but will be respeccing into a more PvP focussed build once the freespec has been issued and I've gotten to lvl 36 (lvl 36 is the level at which I feel I can switch into a PvP build without impacting my usefulness in PvE).
Anyways, for comparison purposes here's the build I've been levelling with:
01 : Resist Physical Damage damres(01)
01 : Lunge acc(01) dam(3) dam(5) dam(11)
02 : Spine Burst acc(02) acc(3) dam(5) dam(11) dam(13)
04 : Temp Invulnerability endred(04) damres(7) damres(15) damres(19)
06 : Dull Pain recred(06) recred(7) recred(15) hel(25)
08 : Impale acc(08) dam(9) dam(9) dam(13) acc(25)
10 : Hasten recred(10)
12 : Build Up recred(12) recred(21) recred(21)
14 : Super Speed runspd(14)
16 : Unyielding endred(16) damres(17) damres(17) damres(19)
18 : Hurdle jmp(18)
20 : Health hel(20)
22 : Stamina endrec(22) endrec(23) endrec(23)
24 : Stealth endred(24)
26 : Ripper acc(26) dam(27) dam(27) dam(29) acc(34)
28 : Invincibility endred(28) defbuf(29) defbuf(31) defbuf(31)
30 : Quills endred(30) endred(31) endred(34)
32 : Throw Spines acc(32) dam(33) dam(33) dam(33) acc(34)
And here's the build I'm planning on respeccing into at lvl 36:
01 : Resist Physical Damage damres(01)
01 : Lunge acc(01) dam(5) dam(11) dam(13)
02 : Temp Invulnerability damres(02) damres(3) damres(3) endred(7)
04 : Dull Pain recred(04) recred(5) recred(7) hel(43) hel(43) hel(45)
06 : Spine Burst acc(06) dam(15) dam(23) dam(25) endred(46) recred(46)
08 : Impale acc(08) dam(9) dam(9) dam(11) recred(13) recred(19)
10 : Hasten recred(10) recred(45) recred(45)
12 : Hurdle jmp(12) jmp(34) jmp(50)
14 : Super Speed runspd(14) runspd(15)

24 : Assault endred(24) endred(25)
26 : Ripper acc(26) dam(27) dam(27) dam(29) recred(31) recred(34)
28 : Tactics endred(28) endred(29) endred(33) thtbuf(40) thtbuf(42) thtbuf(43)
30 : Build Up recred(30) recred(31) recred(31) thtbuf(48) thtbuf(50) thtbuf(50)
32 : Throw Spines acc(32) dam(34) dam(37) dam(37) endred(37) recred(48)
35 : Invincibility defbuf(35) defbuf(36) defbuf(36) endred(36)
38 : Unstoppable damres(38) damres(39) recred(39) recred(39) recred(40)
41 : Focused Accuracy endred(41) endred(42) endred(42) thtbuf(48)
44 : Conserve Power recred(44)
I haven't settled on my lvl 47 and 49 powers yet. I'll either be picking up superjump or stealth, depending on how the mood takes me. I've tried to optimise my build for use in Siren's PvP (I've prioritised slotting of tohitbuffs in powers which will be available in Siren's) and I've also tried to keep functional for PvE.
Edit: corrected my slotting of Dull Pain -
[ QUOTE ]
Can someone tell me how this can happen?
Today I switch to my anti-stalker toon (blaster) after my defender gets 1-shotted. I'm attacking a corruptor and get AS'd outta nowhere, one shotted and couldnt see anything even with +2 perception. I check the corruptor and stalkers powers, no invis or grant invis in sight. If I go out my way to build an anti stalker toon which gets taken out so easily by 1 single stalker, then something has gone horribly wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
Was there a third villain in the zone who may have had grant invis? Also, could one of them have hit you with a -perception power? -
[ QUOTE ]
A common problem - all players should realize that PvP on your own is NOT fun
[/ QUOTE ]
Try not to invalidate my enjoyment of the PvP zones with your generalisationsPersonally I'd much rather run the gauntlet of a large group of villains solo then be on a team and have to put up with the loud mouthed, rude behaviour of my team mates (I've quit teams in Sirens in the past because of the rubbish being spouted on broadcast by my fellow heroes). I'm not saying that it happens a lot, but it does happen often enough to put me off joining a team with players I haven't had positive experiences with in the past.
Anyways, my scrapper is more than capable of holding his own in Sirens solo. I'm a "hit and runner" so if I get hopelessly outnumbered I'll just back off and find another angle of attack. -
Slot force bolt with 3 recharge, stick the power on auto and target through the tank - I guarantee you'll feel useful to the team again (although possibly your stay in the team will be a short one).
Seriously though, I've been in your situation from both sides of the fence. When I used to play my tank a lot I always felt a lot less useful to the team when there was a good controller on the team. I was lucky with my controller as he's Illusion so having a tank on the team didn't impact me a lot as I wasn't trying to lock down mobs like other types of controllers might. If my control powers weren't required I'd just focus on my secondary (kinetics) and play as a sometimes controlling defender-lite.
The only advice I can give you is adapt your playstyle to the team make up. If you're not needed for total mob lockdown put a little more focus on using your secondary or doing a little strategically placed damage. Being flexible with your playstyle is one of the keys to enjoying the game in my opinion. -
With my Illusion/Kinetics controller I have stamina and I still find myself getting low on endurance in between Transference uses as I'm generally spamming powers non-stop. If Transference misses or my target dies I can end up bottoming out on endurance. It's possible that other controller types (who wouldn't be summoning 2 or 3 pets in a fight) or those you use their kinetics powers less would have less issues with just using Transference.

uh oh, I saw a level 4 in atlas today - Union - a Inv/Mace Tank with the following powers:
Invulnerability:Temp Invulnerability
War Mace:Bash, Pulverise, Taunt
Erm.. HOW!?
Satan Spawn A.K.A Aureleous saw it too. He'll back me up.. If he ever reads Tankers.
[/ QUOTE ]
i actually heard ppl speaking of this in-game the other night and it has been some sort of bug/wierdyness going on allowing */Mace to take taunt at lvl4
[/ QUOTE ]
That's a pity - by being forced to take Taunt at level 4 they'd be missing out on the glory that is Clobber... a terrible injustice! -
I don't have any accuracy slotted in quills at the moment and I've never hit a hidden stalker with them. The "MISS" messages are almost as useful as an interupted AS though - if I see a "MISS" appear out of nowhere I pop Dull Pain and Build Up and see if I can survive the next 10 seconds
I think I have Quills 2 slotted for End Reduction at the moment so what I can do this evening is switch those out for accuracies and see if I can interupt some stalkers. I'll let you know how effective it is or isn't.
-
Are you planning to hit and run a lot or stay and fight a lot? If you're going the hit and run route you might consider slotting your most damaging attacks for recharge rather than endurance reduction.
Regarding Jump Kick, I'd agree with dropping it. The last thing you want to be doing in a high level PvP zone is locking yourself into a long, low damage attack animation. The popular choice would be to pick up combat jumping instead and take hurdle instead of swift to open the Fitness pool. A few slots in hurdle and combat jumping makes for a fast, unsuppressed mode of travel (which would be very useful in RV as it's a mostly flat zone). I understand you may want to keep Swift for stacking with Quickness though (I don't have any experience with SR so I don't know which choice has more positives than the other). -

Let's say I am SR, and have FA as well as tactics. (and the SR +per power obviously) Is there anything I WOULDNT be able to see? Like what?
[/ QUOTE ]
/SR-Scrapper with Tactics,FA and Focused Senses is at the perception cap.
You could see a Stalker with Hide,Stealth an Grant(ed) Invisibility (at Stealth cap) at 10 Feet.
Stalker with only Hide and Stealth at 263 feet.
(Numbers for Level 50)
[/ QUOTE ]
focused senses = +300 per
FA = +300 per
Tactics for scrappers = +234
total = +834
Per cap at lvl 50 = 1153
stealth
hide = -500
stealth = -390
total = -890
Hide = -500
stealth = -390
Grant invis -611
total = 1501
stealth cap at lvl 50 1143
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't there a base perception figure that needs to be factored in too?
THIS posts lists it as 500 feet.
Therefore:
Base perception = 500
focused senses = +300 per
FA = +300 per
Tactics for scrappers = +234
total = +1334
Per cap at lvl 50 = 1153
Meaning you're well above the cap and you can see everyone within 10 feet, regardless of their stealth powers
-
I wouldn't feel comfortable tanking for a team if I didn't have taunt. No matter how good you are at keeping the aggro close to you using gauntlet and your aura sooner or later one of your team mates is going to get into difficulty at range and without taunt your options to help them may be very limited. I personally don't like feeling helpless when I'm tanking so I will always take taunt.

As the most impressive and best run SG website/forum I've seen in EU COH/COV it's a terrible shame the Femmes are having so much trouble getting listed. I've teamed with lots of Femmes on my various characters over the past year and I've never had anything other than a positive teaming experience with them. As far as I'm concerned the New Players sub-forum could have a stickied post linking to the Femmes site to show new players how good this game's community can be and I don't think any other sg in the game would feel it was undeserved.
List the Femmes site now!

Please? -
Plus, as a selfishly built Illusion controller, I don't even have group invis and I'm sure there are others in the same boat.
-
The current plan seems to deal with lag pretty well for the most part so I don't see the advantage of introducing extra complex solutions. Plus, I imagine co-ordinating the mito clearing phase would be extremely difficult if everyone was invised.

Quick final question, though: A couple of times I saw Arle pull out what looked like a Bow. Is there a temp power the Heroes can buy which gives them the weapon? Or was I just seeing things?
