Quote:No, the real problem with "better animations" is that they would completely miss Mauk's recommendation and give us Asian-themed moves because for some totally messed up reason people think Europeans don't know how to sword fight. Or they think that only Asian swords are cool. Or whatever.OMGAWD!
So true.
And it's not like there's any shortage of sword styles out there. I'd freakin' love to have and Errol Flynn style set of BS animations, and even more I'd LOVE to have a set of Lichtenauer moves!
OMG, the possibilities! Schielhau, vom Tag, Ochs, Alber, the Mordenhau, Unterhau, or a Halbschwert animation! Have all five of the Master Stroke animations available for Headsplitter!
Please Devs! BS sux, give us better animations! -
Quote:Actually, the whole point of going s/l over melee is that you DON'T need to selectively run missions since 70%+ of all enemies/attacks have either a smashing or lethal component.Players who run brutes and scrappers at +0/x8 usually run Tough and Weave and have a lot of defense bonuses from IO sets. They often pick a particular damage type to get high defense against (often Smash/Lethal), and then selectively run missions that contain enemies that play to their strengths (do mainly S/L damage).

Man, if I judged my characters by their performance at any level, I'd have quit this game two years ago. (Note for context: I've been playing for two years and three weeks)

*Looks at thread*
*pokes it with a stick*
So, anyone able and willing to make these usable for Mac users without a windows OS available Per Beef's conditions? -
Depends on your luck. I've been doing a few hours of farming a week for over a year now and not one purple to show for it. I'm on a mac so no herostats for me, but gotta be well beyond 100k level 50+ kills at this point. On the other hand, I picked up three in a few months of playing regular missions on my first two 50s neither of which farm.

Quote:Eden's merit rewards will not get fixed until data mining shows people can't finish it in 10 minutes or less. Therein lies the problem and why a small polish won't fix it. I have no idea what the Dev resistance to tweaking out the special enhancements is. I'd think it would be a tiny change to make them drop at your level the exact same way SOs that drop from AV defeats do.The Eden trial has had this issue for a long time. It also could use a revisit to its merit reward, and its special enhancement in general(AFAIK, made as the original HO, and out leveled like a joke). Same applies to the Sewer trial's enh.
Without a proper reward for the task, it's a lot tougher to get a team together for it. Yes, some will do it just to play it, but not all. I'm not talking complete make-over, just some polish to a little dulling.
Sewer Trial would really only need a small polish as you say. -
Quote:Any character can cross over. There will be rewards for staying loyal to one side that are supposed to be particularly appealing. They have yet to be revealed. The process is gated to require approximately 2 weeks per step, and three steps for complete shift. But I don't know the process details. On another topic (stupid question catagory) Do you have to create a toon in Preatoria in order to convert a toon to one side or another? Or can my uber set 50s transfer just as easily? ANd what about accolades? If my accoladed uber50 vil turns sides, can he obtain blueside accolades. Im talking about completely converting. ANd if this can be done...what if hes got uber infamy and 10 IOs on his person...will that make it over?
I know random questions are popping in my head as I type...but these are good questions that need answers
Accolades and badges are mixed, many of them were created with the idea of side switching. However, I would be surprised if they let people get all the +HP/+End accolades twice.
Infamy does not cross with you, nor does anything stored in your personal vault. All your bids and sales on the market are frozen and do not cross over. Those items you have in your inventory, however, do cross over. So IOs both slotted and held, salvage, recipes, and inspirations. -
Quote:I have no problem with the Sewer Trial being failable. I do have a problem with the rewards being useless.NEVER!
The Eden trial is one of the best trial/TF's in the game!
The Sewer trial is pretty damn good, too. And it's one of the few situations where you might actually run out of time (if we exclude that mission with the 10 minute timer that you're supposed to fail).
The Eden Trial is perhaps one of the most borked "things" in the entire CoH universe. Meaning mission, trial, taskforce challenge, raid, etc. When speeders can finish in under 10 minutes and average teams need over an hour and/or regularly fail the thing is colossally broken. Broken beyond anything but the henchmen exploit from AE. Tweak it to keep the fun and the challenge, but scale back the speeders so that the rest of us can get a reward out of it. Seriously.
In both cases it is the challenge vs reward that needs revision. -
Quote:Making it like the Katie Hannon waves as you said is one of the most popular ways of speeding it up. Another common one is to just have a smaller number of waves. Another is to make it like the Croatoa arc finale where you defend for 10 minutes and each time you defeat a wave the next begins. And Im also against reducing the timing for the respec Terra Volta trial. Remember this was designed for those that need to respec so there builds may not be optimal. I know things have changed since it was introduced but there still may be people who run it for that reason so need the down time between mobs to recover or to make sure the entire mob is defeated beore the next one spawns. What I would suggest is allowing a way for players to force the next wave, i.e. just clicking on doors or something. This allows the best of both worlds.
Just because it's faster doesn't mean it has to be harder. =) -
Wow, no one else likes the envenomed dagger? at -250% regen plus 100 damage and an activation time just shy of 1 second, against an AV it's functionally 450 damage each time you toss one out and you get a stack of 30. Against GMs it's even better since they have such high regen and don't have the resistance to debuffs so it COMPLETELY shuts off regen for the duration of the debuff. That's functionally 252 damage per second against Jurassik, for instance (based on the one time I hit him with a scanner he had 252 hp/sec regen).
You guys don't have controllers, defenders or tanks who would appreciate a 450 damage 1 second ranged attack against a hard target? -
Quote:If it is the pool b thing, then Mako and davastation could be the proving ground. Mako's set Dam/End is pool b and Dam/Rech is pool c. Devastation also has Dam/End in pool b and dam/rech in pool c.... It's the Pool B thing.
Numina End/Rech, on the other hand, is total Pool C vendor trash . I bought a whole bunch at 55,908 just to get the numbers down from 50-ish per level to around 20 per level. (I don't know why, I just did. )
So, what are the differences in price and supply on mako's bite and devastation dam/end and dam/rech? I can't log in to check for myself. -
Original Poster.
And there is one other way that BS is inferior to Katana and is the real reason that I won't make another: Animation times.
In teams way too often. Way, way too often I start an attack, another person moves up, starts their attack, theirs hits first, kills the enemy. We both turn to a second, and repeat of before. Disembowel and headsplitter I have rarely landed on teams unless I split off from the group. It's basically all parry, slice, whiff, parry whiff, whiff, parry, slice, whiff.
Extremely frustrating. -
Quote:You can try. They might get 290 prestige, or a snowman or a rock, but you can try, once per year anyway.Double this! I was just thinking that, as I read through the thread.
But I also like that it's a special thing for the holiday season. I wouldn't want to see it become too everyday.
And to the OP, I've encountered a number of situations (well..ok, a few anyway) where I would have liked to have been able to "gift" a jetpack/jumppack to a lowbie friend (or complete stranger), once I had one and didn't need another, or had some other travel power (like on a Kheld) and didn't need it at all.
That's what's nice about the recipie, I can give it to someone who will really use it, rather than it going to waste. -
Newish to Justice and from Hawaii rather than Australia.
But my 2-cents is that Public Global channels are ok, however you get people participating from cross servers, that's not always as helpful when trying to put a group together.
As a player, I find I appreciate super groups that actively use the message of the day to coordinate, etc, that have all the teleports, that have the occasional event to be very helpful.
It's nice when the group is larger and has a community, but with an active coalition, even if the group is pretty empty, it has value.
If both group and coalition are dead, then it doesn't help so much.
I also find that new players often find a public chat channel is more intimidating than asking supergroup members to team. Public chat has larger reach, but with a supergroup you have a built-in relationship even if it is your first day with the group.
On a chat channel, everyone is a stranger.
And I've actually tried a few times to get into sinister and sentinel, but no one was on. My hours are worse than yours, darn 90-hour work week =) -
My main is a BS/Regen. I love her to death, but having tried katana and ninjablade I can say that I'll never make another BS toon of any AT just because the speed of the attacks is so frustratingly slow by comparison.
But it is a great set, solid numbers, and the customization is unmatched. -
Quote:You can do 53 Hami's, and I believe that the difference might be enough to hit the ED cap on dam. Need mids to know and I'm on a mac, but I *think* you're close enough that the extra 10%-ish would be enough. Not a bad frankenslotting, but Siphon Life makes a better attack than a heal. So why not slot to get even more benefits? Might I suggest:
2 Acc/Dam Hami's, 1 Heal/End Hami, Doctored Wounds Heal/Rech, Numina's Heal/Rech and a Mako's Dam/Rech. All lvl 50 of course. You don't quite hit the ED cap on Dam, Heal and Rech, but the difference in percent translates to be very little difference at all. And you get great acc and a little end reduc to boot! Enjoy! -
Quote:Not really. Just because a Kheldian is a criminal or villain does not make them a nictus. Not only are Warshades Nictus gone good, but more specifically they have rejected Arakhn/Requiem and the whole Drain the life out of whole galaxies Schtick. You can do that and serve Arachnos with no hesitation. Per the stories (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) A nictus dominates the host completely, whereas the Warshade is a new being with components of both the kheldian and the human, just like a peacebringer is.I think it might be good to point out that with Going Rogue, it is possible a hero side Kheldian could be sideswitched to be a Nictus. (Particularly, a Warshade, since the backstory states specifically that Warshade are Nictus "gone good") If the Nictus VEAT was dropped because it would be essentially identical to a Nictus, then you would have pretty much the same thing with a side switched Warshade, assuming that's possible. The only thing lost would be Nictus-specific story arcs, and that could be added later as part of the Praetorian content.
Specifically in the intro missions as I recall Sunfire talks about peacebringers not being mere joinings or mergings of two beings but a new third thing created out of the two. A nictus is not that. So just joining up with arachnos doesn't make a warshade back into a nictus, though you could take that route with yours if you wanted to.
Quote:Switching a Soldier of Arachnos to hero side makes a little less sense storyline-wise, but one of the standard costume slots could be used for a Longbow costume for either a "Longbow infiltrating Arachnos", or a "Arachnos infiltrating Longbow". The only branch that would have to be avoided would be the Crab Spiders, for the backpack. -
The envenomed dagger has an extraordinarily high -regen debuff.
The backup radio is interesting, but not as powerful as an HVAS or Shivan in my one trial of it. Needs multiple rare salvage and it is rare itself. Nice to have and I imagine will end up popular.
the shields I've used a fair bit and they're pretty decent.
Hand Grendades have pretty vicious knock, so that's a mixed bag. Reasonable oh-**** button or to disrupt an Alpha or to piss off your pug.
Stun grenades don't have high enough mag by themselves, but for the right character are very potent. I enjoyed combining them with flashfire's aoe stun and plan to test them with my warshade's aura. -
Aerik, thanks for the explanation on the mezzes!
-
I would like to see the Sewer and Eden redone so they have value.
I'd love to see the villain respec get toned down in difficulty because my god pugs have a hard time taking the tree. I've never seen so many total fails as on that trial.
I'll second the vote for speeding up the Terra Volta trial. Lots of methods from timer, to faster waves, but really, please make it faster. -

Quote:True enough, I misspoke, what I meant was that you get more from fury than you do from slotting, especially without IOs and SOs. Even 6 DOs is only going to get you into the 90s. Or nothing at all and let fury take you into the high 200s for most of your mission... Pretty standard for brutes to go accuracy, endurance and recharge in early slotting.Though I agree with most of what you said, this is completely false. Brutes have a damage cap of 850%. 100% fury only gives a 200% increase to damage, which brings a brute to 300% damage. Still no where near their cap, even if you slot 3 SO for damage you are still less then half the cap.
The reason a lot of brutes do not slot damage is that end/recharge tend to have a greater effect in play. Being able to generate fury faster and attack longer tends to add more damage then what slotting for damage does.
but yes, cap was a bad choice of words. -
is it only hold that the mitos have mag 50 protection against or does it include stun, fear, and all the rest?
-
That's kind of looking like a version of the senate from Star Wars.
