  1. Well whatever issue I'm having that is causing catastrophic lockups is still afflicting me after adding the new i19 patch.

Here are the specifics from the other thread. Anyone have any ideas on a fix? I've /bugged it but no formal response yet just the automated one.

    Quote:
Geometry buffers are off. Yes I am on an iMac with ATI Radeon2600.

Edit: The lockups are confirmed as only a problem with version 4462. I loaded from my Going Rogue CD, no issues. Redownload and reinstall 4462 from website, lockups. no other mods or anything added, just the base game itself, nothing else running the background. So it's an issue with my iMac and v4462.

Only locksup when talking to contacts, or other dialog windows (not yet at the market) lockup locations include: PC "get info" window, NPC conversation window, Contact get or turn in mission window, Villain Morality mission interact with your future self window and hit the computer window, talk to trainer window, and talk to store/vendor window. Symptom: game freezes, sound continues. No keyboard response, no background programs keep functioning, have to reboot the computer to get out of the lockup.

Not 100% reliable, sometimes I can go for a few hours without it happening.

Also, only on v4462 about 1/2 of my characters now have messed up power icons while recharging they show a different power, while you get the correct popup name if you right click, if you hover you get something random, 99% of the time a temp power or dayjob power.
After adding the i19 patch, I go into Ramiel's arc, get to the rescue portion, talk to him and BAM, lockup need to reboot the computer. And again a second time. Worked on the third try, but then I locked up again while looking at a team-mate's powers through the info window. So I be screwed. And not in a happy fun way.
  2. So if I'm not putting Miracle or Numina's into health (because I'm a /regen and they're already in my build) am I better off putting a level 50 Common Health or the regenerative tissue unique in that one slot? I dun have mids so I can't check for myself and I have always wondered.

Similarly, I know that the Performance Shifter proc is better than 1 level 50 EndMod in Physical Perfection, but is it still better than the EndMod in Stamina?

They need to rework the coding for phasing.
    1) Phased critters should not be strikable
    2) Phased toons should be able to hit phased critters
    3) Phasing needs to be the tier 3 not the tier 4 pool power.
I would love it if they did #2. Would be a very cool update.
  4. Now, I get confused where the wonkiness of Hami-Os comes into play. I know that in sevearl powers Hami's do unintended/unexpected things. What happens if you slot Peroxisomes or Ribosomes? I'm guessing that nothing happens or it would be in a ton of builds, but has anyone actually tested?
  5. In the base forum there are some awesome instructions and photos for setting up "windows" that look out into space. And a few who have created spaceships etc inside their base.

One of my friends has a base with a TARDIS control room and a spaceship. =)

yup, but I never felt the illusionists are really an issue either. The lieut's are wimps, and the masters are quite possibly teh biggest cowards in the game, right up there with warwolves. Plink them a few times and they run way the hell off (often completely out of targetting range), leaving you free to take out their summons, and the rest of the spawn just in time for them to come floating back and stupid and happy forgetting completely that they'd ever been fighting you, just in time to be AS'd.

Dunno why, all 5 of my Doms have the aoe immobilize. No I don't open with it, but all of them have it, and all of them use it. Especially the one with the purple chance to hold slotted. Hit a spawn and move around a corner for safety. Or hit them then lay on the knock without scattering them. etc. Too many uses for me to skip it.

What are your plans as an elec dom for the alpha slot?
My plans are exactly the same as for all of my characters: You can change what goes into the slot every 5 minutes. I'm crafting 1 of each, or at the minimum both recharge and damage. Why everyone is obsessed with just 1, I have no idea. People in the beta are reporting that 1 Lady Grey netted between 7 and 14 shards for every participant, you need 28 tops to craft the uncommon Alpha Boosts less for the common ones. The rares aren't available until i20 at the earliest.

  9. Looking for feedback. I don't have mids since I'm on a mac and I suck with paper and pen. Anything obvious, like did I put in more than 5 of a bonus or something. Anywhere I can do better. This is pure PvE.

Blank in build up is for Gaussian's Chance to buildup, (+Percep is because I don't have tactics on this version and I hate those #$%^&ing blind grenades). Missing slots are for Miracle +recovery, Numina Heal, Numina recov/regen, Perf +end, Perf EndMod in inherent fitness.

  10. Cray, the envenomed dagger is also awesome against GMs.

And you might want to add the medkit to your list. It's very potent.

I dunno on static field, but Spirit Tree is just regeneration not direct healing, and it's really not all that impressive. It helps to be sure, but the base value isn't enough that I can see it benefitting so highly as to be noticable.

Pseudo phase of the Council Archon troops with their shield. I forget the name.

The accountant should tell you your current Inf on hand if you click him, just like some NPCs will tell you the time or hours played etc. Since you can already monitor this yourself via multiple methods, it's totally frivolous and perfectly in theme.
  14. I've only had one that didn't make the 20m back. But it was on a level 32 character so I wasn't really expecting to. I was hoping to get at least one recipe to slot for myself, but didn't event get that.

On the other hand, my next roll netted me a Kin Combat I sold for 121m, so why complain about 1 specific roll?

I'm right there with you. I did an ITF over the weekend and got two of the resucitators. Each time the notice came up I was all excited, "ooh, ooh what'd I get?" Bah. So sad.

then I do my patron arc and I get Sting of the Manticore and Trap of The Hunter. Both vendor trash.

I really wish they'd adjust the rates to favor combat recipes even more than they already did. Ah well, random is random.

OWtS grants massive +HP, solid resistance, and bonus recovery. Taking it really depends on your play style, however. The skill can be superfluous if you don't put your Brute into situations where moments of peak performance are required. I take it because there are few characters in this game that are tougher than a soft capped Shield Defense Brute with 95% DDR, 3000 HP, 70% Sm/L with 35% Fire/Cold/Ene/Neg resistance. However, this character happens to play in a VG that runs everything at +4/8 with just 4 total team members.

Despite all of that, the most powerful aspect of Shield (and SR) is the ability to achieve 95% DDR. This value pretty much shatters the challenge of this game. I would recommend sacrificing OWtS if it allows you to tweak your build for 95% DDR.
Can you post your build? I'm curious to see your slotting.
  17. To give a bit more direct advice, since you're monitoring broadcast it seems. Bricks and Founders and usually dead on all servers. Heroside the best place to find a group is going to be Talos or PI and have people sidekick or exemplar as needed.

Since the blueside arcs take you all over the place anyway, it shouldn't be an issue.

Really, the only zones where you can get teams easily with broadcast are atlas, steel, talos, and PI. All the rest you need to use the channels as given in posts above, the looking for team tools or both.

Correction: It will accept show always for villain bar, but will not display the bar without the name also. Not a meaningful/practical distinction I think, but it is there nonetheless.

Also can you tell me how to set up one of these binds/macros so I have a button in one of my power bars that I can click to turn it on and click again to turn it off? Is that a macro?

I had a bug for over a year where no binds or macros worked and after re-installing from the Going Rogue CD that bug finally went away and I can use them now. but I have no clue how they work.
  21. seconded. As a proc it will check to trigger each time the power is activated. In an auto or toggle that means every 10 seconds. The buff lasts as long as the toggle or auto power is active. Additionally, the level of the IO doesn't matter if you slot a 50 into inherent health then flashback to Outbreak at level 1, it still works.

The only ones that can be interrupted are time bomb and trip mine. If you do waste a slot on time bomb, you deserve all the pain you suffer until you wise up and respec out of it. (not 100% serious about that but it is mathematically one of the worst powers in the game and you really should only get it for flavor).

The only one that requires any skill in placement is trip mine, but people call them toe bombs for a reason: you place them directly at the enemy's feet while melee is going on.

With DP there is actually nice synergy. I unload with my mini nuke that deals knockdown, then toe bomb while they are getting up. Between my high defenses and them getting up, I don't get interrupted often even when solo. On teams, it is a non-issue.

That said, the animations of DP feels slow but are actually middle of the road. The animations of traps ARE VERY SLOW. In a team, it is not at all uncommon that I drop acid mortar, gas trap and fire off one single-target attack and the whole spawn is gone thanks to my teammates.

Still, I like the playstyle of DP/traps. The hold in DP stacks against bosses with poison gas trap (and I am an addict for the chance to hold proc hehe), the -res from achilees heel added to acid mortar is very nice to mitigate the fact that DP does below average damage even when you're using fire ammo (and if you haven't been to the blaster forums, please go and see the math and learn why you should be in fire ammo 100% of the time if you care about dealing damage and only look at the other ammo types if you need to and can stack the debuffs).

In general I summon my seekers in the group, move in drop acid mortar, gas trap and nuke then toe bomb pull back and use my AoEs on anything that's alive. runners get held then gunned down. If I am overwhelmed, I drop caltrops and sit inside them.

I use hover rather than combat jumping, so I do need to stay close to the ground to place most of my traps (all except caltrops, seekers and forcefield) or at least drop back down. But redraw is a non-issue since you're setting several traps at once, then blasting for a bit, then setting several more traps. So you have a natural cycle back and forth that keeps you from being bothered about redraw.

(Heck, if we're assuming equal slot investment, then you could slot four Basilisk for the set bonuses and then use a fifth slot on a different, cheaper set's IO to flesh out the enhancement values.)
True, but you gotta be careful gimping accuracy too much.I tend to go for the triples and quads also for exemplaring abilities. The enhancement from a quad will not be reduced by exemplaring until you go to level 19 or lower. Same with a level 43 triple. But you gotta drop all the way down to a level 24 dual IO to be protected from exemplaring. So my needs aren't the same. Also I have a habit of thinking shaped by the wonderful nuts int eh scrapper forum who argue over the difference between 44.93% defense and 45.1% defense and actually have in-game stats to show that it changes whether you can or cannot successfully survive a given AV solo. o.O I am both frightened and in awe of those guys. So thanks to them I do have a habit of thinking how to slot that gives the absolute most of everything at all times. Which, obviously, isn't what everyone wants.

    Quote:
I don't have access to the market right now, but if the rest of the pieces are in the 5-20 million range, then buying Basilisk's could be much, much cheaper than even you estimate, when compared with the Gladiator hold set.
If you go recipe yes there is some decent variety in price, they are available quite cheap right now. But if you go crafted they're all the same price and sitting over 15m. I think it is the result of the current AE exploit with people levelling alts and spending their ill-gotten gains on crafted IOs leaving the recipes to linger. So take advantage while the opportunity lasts!

    Quote:
Personally, I will always favor +DEF builds as long as the IO system remains in its current form. But if you're going for +damage, then the Gladiator set is good, great even. And don't get me wrong; I appreciate the information you've offered on the subject. It frankly never occurred to me even to check the prices for that IO set.

    Good food for thought.
Check the PBAoE PVP set also. I'm putting the Dam/End/Rech (2m recipe) Dam/Rech (5m recipe) and acc/end/Rech (16m recipe) into my fire/fire/fire dom to pick up those 3 points of knockback protection. =) Then adding scirrocco's proc, and eradication's proc and quad to round it out. if I have slots left over.

I was amazed to find some pieces of this set available for less than Scirocco's dervish. And We all need KB protection.

    PB and WS on SOs

I'm just curious Flux, what's your take on PBs compared to stalkers? Because Posi has come out and said that the Stalker is broken because of the way game mechanics impact it. Specifically referring to them being great at slow (because of 6 second re-hide and long activating assassin strike) Single Target combat but the game being built around fast AoE combat.

Near as I can tell that's as close as any dev has come to saying one AT is behind the others.

And quite frankly, in nova and human form a PB brings a LOT more AoE to the table than a stalker does, in dwarf is miles more survivable, and in general are much more welcome on teams.
