Hitting the intangible...

Assassin's Strike only reveals you when you hit. You cannot hit an intangible foe, however, if you AS an intangible foe you will be revealed and do no damage and have no fear effect...

Am I the only one that thinks this is not working as intended?

How many things in the game have phase as a power? I can only think of Diabolique and the psuedo phase by the Fake Nems.

*edit*
Doh forgot about the Illusionists. Can't you just wait till they unphase?

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Pseudo phase of the Council Archon troops with their shield. I forget the name.

And I swear there's one more I'm forgetting.

Of all of them, though, the Illusionists are the only ones that are an issue. Miss a bubbled Fake Nem or Ascendant, all they'll do is sit and stare at you.

yup, but I never felt the illusionists are really an issue either. The lieut's are wimps, and the masters are quite possibly teh biggest cowards in the game, right up there with warwolves. Plink them a few times and they run way the hell off (often completely out of targetting range), leaving you free to take out their summons, and the rest of the spawn just in time for them to come floating back and stupid and happy forgetting completely that they'd ever been fighting you, just in time to be AS'd.

Technically you do hit them, you just can't affect them while they're phased. Effectively, a phased target is just invulnerable to attack. It's a mag-whatever Untouchable status effect.

For PCs and most NPCs, it's coupled to a high-mag Only Affects Self effect, though Illusionists don't have that little handicap.

This is primarily a problem when you hit AS while they are unphased and then they phase as you hit them.

Fake Nems do not have phasing, they have personal field generator, so you generally don't hit them, although if you do they take nil for damage...

They need to rework the coding for phasing.
1) Phased critters should not be strikable
2) Phased toons should be able to hit phased critters
3) Phasing needs to be the tier 3 not the tier 4 pool power.

I would love it if they did #2. Would be a very cool update.

It would be interesting for grav trollers, but would also bring up the possibilities of a new form of timespace melee stalker that would pull enemies out of phase in order to isolate and eliminate them...

But that is a lot of code...

Oooh, that would be a fun way to capitalize on single-target damage. Make a secondary with phase and phase-foe, go dark-melee primary. Hehe. Wicked.

I'm fairly sure they did #2 some time ago.

I'll have to look into testing that... If it works that way it may open the door to some new tactics...
