Miladys, what Alpha would you recommend to go with that build?
-
I like putting my Kismet +Acc, Gambler Recharge, and sometimes a Karma -KB in hide. Not always all of them on the same character though.
-
also, creepers have to be summoned with the reticle on the ground (you can be in the air though)
-
The key is fly high enough, the nice advantage is the -fly drops you out of them if you get hit.
But I have been killed by low-hovering allies who got blue flame dropped where I couldn't see it. =) So fly high dag nabbit! -
I've got a character I'm working on. He isn't well built and has every power in both primary and secondary. His ST attacks mostly have Smashing haymaker and mako (quad+proc).
But tonight I got a hecatomb drop.
Like an idiot I usually just use attacks randomly but I'm trying to get in the habit of Blinding-AttackVitals. I've tried experimenting with sweep and while it is better aoe, I never seem to do it right.
Any recommendations where to put the hecatomb to maximize its damage for either AV or Sweep as a primary combo? Is there one that works best with both? -
Don't forget the two "easy" options:
full set of Gaussian's = 2.5% def to everything (positional and typed)
Steadfast Protection = 3% to everything
You probably want to invest in both of those if you haven't already. -
You still have a useful enhancement in stamina. Try the acc/recharge instead =)

Quote:I think the point is that many characters take aid other/aid self anyway, and if you went that route, it does help your pets.Having to spend two power-picks just to make the Patron Pet viable kind of says it all. I really must play test this approach though, because it does sound fun, if highly suboptimal.
I don't think they were advocating taking air other for no reason other than a pet. Or at least. I hope not. -
Hehe, I should introduce you to my crab. Struggles at -1/x2. =) But the slotting is so horrid that it's not really a fair call.

Quote:I haven't checked in a few weeks, but the PvP PBAoE set has a few pieces that sell cheaper than Multistrike.Fix'd.
You can get one on the relative cheap (several million): The Steadfast +3% defense IO.
The price of the PvP IO, however extreme, is not solely a function of what the IO does. It has a lot more to do with the IO's rarity. Then again, if the IO didn't do anything, no matter how rare it was it wouldn't cost a dime.
Even the basic enhancements from PvP sets are hundreds of millions. They may be good, but not that good. They are that rare. -
Quote:From what I can tell most of the ability to kill yourself has been removed. Burn sometimes gets a bug where you damage yourself. But all other implementations I know of are removed. There's a few cases where you can give endurance to the enemy by slotting performance shifter into an attack, but I don't know of any where you can heal them (panacea proc in siphon life maybe?). And you certainly can't kill yourself or your allies. What some of the other posters in this thread seem to be overlooking is that the proposal is to make good power and slot placement choices and then use sets that harm the character's performance. In my opinion the only way to do that and make the character perform worse than using nothing or regular IOs and Sos is to pick a build that has a focus on melee combat with multiple powers that cause knockback and then slot knockback sets wherever possible. i think i could still make it work well on most maps, but it would arguably be worse than no slotting at all.
Which leaves you trying to find a way to impair things. I agree knock is a good one. And in that case the ideal candidate may actually be a peacebringer because they take knock in most powers. -
Quote:You know, having read this whole thread, I have to say I'm amazed how efficient you are.I can do this with about half an hour spent an evening, or an hour or so on a Saturday when I'm especially lazy (taking notes has slowed me down a lot of course
). Anyone can do this, if they want to.
Here's an example. I logged into my namesake on Virtue. Traveled from the Midnighter's guild in Steel to the Went. Picked up 3 million in sold junk, grabbed 2 recipes and some salvage that came in. Put up higher bids for the salvage that didn't come in at my original price so I had everything I needed. Flew to the Uni and crafted 4 recipes. Flew back to wents, emailed myself 1, listed 2, slotted 1. Bought 4 Multistrike recipes and all the salvage I needed for them. Put up a few more bids for other recipes and salvage. Flew back to the uni, crafted and slotted all 4. Back to the guild, auto-completed one tip mission and logged out.
Took over 20 minutes for that one character alone. No way could I accomplish what you do in 30 minutes in less than 3 or 4 hours.
Hell it took more than 10 minutes just to find out none of the crafted multistrikes were affordable (under 2 million), then find the recipe and all the salvage and enter the bids. -
Quote:Agreed. If a warshade can have three essences slotted with damage, I don't see how two VSs is broken.Haven't tried Gun Drone but I've posted several threads about VS. I think VS misses out on a lot of set bonuses because +damage doesn't affect it. The only way to increase its damage is through resistance debuffs.
I really hope they can either increase the duration or let us Stack two VS. My main problem with VS is that while it's nice to have a pet shooting on its own, it doesn't focus fire with you.
I don't think it's overpowering to have two VSs because a lot of time it is just trailing behind you if the team is moving fast. -
Quote:Thank you!Hey folks,
As most of you probably know, I'm still a bit new around here. I'll poke around and see if I can find out if there is anyone internally who can answer some questions regarding the Mac client and issues related to it.
AFAIK, there are no current plans to upgrade the mac client to a newer version of Cider, however I could be wrong.
As a recent Mac convert (well, at least for my laptop needs) I understand your frustration and will see if I can help to at least get you some info.
Thanks!

Quote:Dunno, I think I did a little better gimping my stalker. Putting end reduction into power that have no endurance cost and recharge reduction on toggles and other modifiers that add no effect at all. So the slots are filled but for no game effect. At least yours gets to benefit from the end reduction. Both are totally lacking in accuracy which is key to a gimp build I think.Peacebringers rock.
<< Snip >>
... of course, you could also leave all the slots empty, too.
We should level pact =) -
I'll back this. As they are the patron pets seem fine to me. My stalker has the night widow, and I have a dominator with the tarantula and they both last just fine. My widow can solo a family or council lieutenant as fast as my stalker can take down a boss without using AS or buildup and I think that's just fine as far as damage goes.

Quote:I'm not so sure about this. Yes it's common now, but they are already having NPCs talk about threats bigger than Cole and Praetoria, so Clocks might only feature prominently in i20 and then it'll be someone new for i21.On the other hand, all the rules are changing with the incarnate stuff, and maybe something else will come out on top. Syntax42 hints at this in regard to common enemy damage types in the "new game".
What it looks like to me is that they are trying to keep things mixed, not establish a new "baseline". -
Quote:I suck with sleeps. I've tried them, never really had much success, and eventually always end up dropping them. Except for my sonic blaster who is 99.999% single-target.Spore burst is awesome in the hands of a great player.
People who don't use sleeps effectively really confuse me.
Used in COMBO with your other tools it expands what you can do a great deal. Example: Spore burst+Creepers
Back when I used to run a 205% recharge Plant/psi dom I treasured having Sporeburst as a way to stop unwanted agro and to make difficult groups safer to approach. -
I have Earth/Thorn, Elect/Earth, Fire/Psi, Fire/Fire and Plant/Ice and I've tried several others (all primary and secondaries at least once).
So far I like Plant best as a primary and earth as a secondary. But I think Fire/Earth is pretty much my ideal mix and once I finish my 5 off that'll be my next project. -
One other thing to keep in mind: Not all procs have the same chance to fire. On melee attacks, the touch of death is only a 15%, not 20% like Mako.
And a few procs don't do anything. Specifically the Absolute Amazement purple set's proc is currently busted. -

Quote:Here's a quick "cheat sheet" based on the table of comparisons.I want to thank everyone for their responses, it has been very helpful. I don't play around with Mids so I didn't realize the differences between level 35 and 50 were small enough that leaving level 35s would be acceptable. Any further responses are also appreciated.
As good as a +0 SO (33.3%):
Level 17 Triple (32.7%)
Level 21 Dual (33.6%)
Level 30 Single (34.8%)
As good as a +3 SO (38.3%)
Level 20 Triple (38.4%)
Level 24 Dual (38.4%)
Level 40 Single (38.6%)
Note: Level 35 Single (36.7%)
So, when most people wait until 35 to slot IOs, they are thinking about singles. If you use sets, you get a higher bonus way, way, WAY earlier than level 35.
And here is a really good example from the wiki on why slotting lower than level 50 works great if you exemplar:
Quote:Example: Slotting Aimed Shot with
Ruin - Accuracy/Endurance/Recharge: Level 40
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 50
Devastation - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge: Level 43
Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge: Level 43
gives a total bonus of: 93.18% Accuracy, 93.57% Damage, 76.8% Endurance Reduction and 93.18% Recharge Reduction at full effect from level 21 to 50.
