That's not marty. All marty does is prevent drops of any kind, no inf, no exp, no recipes, no enhancements, no AE tickets, no salvage. For exactly 10 minutes. Marty does nothing else (note, reporting things to the devs as a datamining tool is also assumed, but that has no impact on our perceived game experience)

There's a lot of people spouting BS about marty, so, best to work on keeping the facts straight. I keep seeing idiots in AE hit the ticket cap and claim marty shut them down.

    Me: Did you get exp?
    them: yes
    M: did you get inf?
    t: yes
m: then it wasn't marty that's the ticket cap.
t: no I never hit the cap that fast before, I'm sure it was marty
m: marty only shuts down all rewards, not some
Random idiot: No, I triggered marty yesterday and stopped getting recipes for three missions
    m: did you get exp?
    Random idiot: yes
    m: then it wasn't marty
Random idiot: yes it was, I went three missions that's way too much to be random.
m: <--- wishes he had the facepalm emote
  2. I had an ill/rad that I moved over to exalted recently. Been stalled out in the late 20s as I sort of realized that I had no idea what I was doing with him. Found your guide and got a much better idea.

However, what I can't find are any skippable powers in the primary or secondary except for maybe group invis. Is this a combo where you really pretty much take it all and don't get many pools?

I'm looking at just flight and haste at this point with nothing else from their pools and am very grateful that fitness is inherent. I can skip air sup because I have three veteran attacks.

    Anyway, thanks for the guide!

Rough guess, and assuming you buy the crafted IOs not recipes and that you use no Alignment merits, astral merits or drops, but just shell out money for everything, 3.6 billion.

That's also assuming relatively high prices for most items. 150m for each gambler, 300m each for the enzymes, 40m for the neucleus, 100m for the full sets of decimation 80m for posi, 350m each for 3 copies of basilisk. Expedient reinforcements are running between 20m and 60m per piece (depending on level) right now and the build has a lot of them.

You can shave a huge percentage of that off if you buy odd-leveled recipies and do your own crafting. Easily turning the basilisks from 350m down to 250m each possibly less. Uncrafted decimation sets move for only 20m+ crafting costs compared to 70-100m for the set crafted (for a few months this was my major source of money even more than farming).

If you run hami raids or STF/LRSF you can get the neucleus for free. Patience can get you enzymes down in the 250-280m range. And uncrafted expedient reinforcements are about 1/3 the price of crafted. Using alignment or astral merits for the gamblers is the way to go there.

I'm guessing you can put it together with patience and merits for about 1.2b to 1.8b.

I can't remember if Nemesis Snipers can see through Hide. It may be they just have very high perception, which is different than the other mobs which actually ignore any amount of stealth.
    snipers just have high perception.

Yup that's what I did. Except I spent 27 seconds killing the magma boss in the first mission because he counts for a gladiator badge. I just don't do well moving at high speed and get stuck on corners. So me on ninja run is like dash - dash - smack - backup - backup - dash - dash - standstill - turn - dash - dash - dash - smack.

Because I'm waiting on those slots, my FH and Resilience are still only single slotted, even though we got that buff.

As far as the build goes now, though. I feel like a god. I don't really solo any +4x8 stuff because that's not particularly enjoyable to me (plus school started dominating pretty much all of my time - damn you physics), but when I do play him, death is never close to an option.

At that level of survivability, there really isn't much clicking to be done just because of the playstyle. I rarely find myself having to stop killing to use clickies. Everything is preemptive, rather than reactive.

If I ever have some extra time I'd like to run a solo MoITF, but time is the one thing I've been lacking lately.
If only I was a neutrino...
I don't run at x8 because, well, the lone AoE isn't up often enough to make that fun. Hehe.

    Mercs That Bad?

The trick to MMs is that like Kheldians they are an AT where player skill is as important as build and powers.

A good MM PLAYER can do amazing things with any power set combination. But not all PLAYERS are the same skill level. In the hands of someone with no skills at hotkeys, macros, and complex positioning of multiple characters, and with poor reflexes, MMs will underperform nomatter what the build. In the hands of someone with those skills they are awesome. I see a lot of posts about issues with the AT or sets that really come down to MM's are harder than other ATs, possibly the hardest of all. And other posts by people with the skills not understanding why others don't get how powerful MMs are. The skill is the issue, not the AT, not the powers, not the build.

This is why I have such trouble with all MMs. Btu the concept is my favorite of all, and I really want to find one that I can play. I'm guessing that I'll end up on bots/ff set to aggressive. Heh. But I am trying other options before settling on that as a last effort.

That said, Mercs do have some performance issues that are not player-specific:

    1. the supposedly top damaging pet, commando, misuses his knock powers and I don't think it would be possible to intentionally choose worse targets than he does on his own. You have to constantly babysit this jerkwad. He loves to fire off grenades, LRMs, and other knock powers as his opening attack on a perfectly packed spawn. THEN use full auto and flamethrower when only 1 or 2 are grouped up. I eventually started to loathe my commando. Having access to an AoE immobilize with -knock will prevent this I'm told, but that was just 1 more thing I couldn't micromanage. Others have had much better success. Loathe. Not just hate, waaaay past dislike. Loathe. Despise. And eventually respec out of and shelve permanently. fu***** Jac****

    2. the spec ops have a couple good attacks on paper. In play I once ran a mission I had outleveled using just them to see how often the powers came up. It was pretty pathetic. they love their wimpy immobilize, stun, etc. And they will try to snipe while being attacked in melee. They will try to snipe, get hit and interrupted, then start sniping again. the snipe, is crap damage even when it hits.

    3. they have a tiny amount of resistance, but no other protections. Keeping them alive is thus harder than several other sets, but definitely easier than ninjas.

    4. they deal almost exclusively lethal damage, and unlike ninjas they do it in dots. I have very often seen my boys killed by an enemy who dies 2 seconds later from the dots stacked on them. I'm not aware of any other MM set with this issue. Even thugs have a reasonable amount of solid hits.

All that said, mercs do have a few decent slotting options. All of them take a wide selection of procs. You can drop the achilles heel into the tier 1 soldiers and that's practically AoE since there are three of them firing. All of their attacks except the melee do -def so it checks ALOT. Doing this noticeably improved my commando's damage output (I gave him a damage proc after testing it out the other way round, commando doesn't use his -def powers near enough to benefit from the heel).

If you are going to pick up all 4 pet resist and def bonuses, they at least start with some resist.

But overall, they really are that bad or possibly worse. In every circumstance I can think of, thugs do all the same stuff, have all the same advantages, but perform better.

Ah Hamidon, still screwing with powers in ways the devs can't predict. Hehe.
  9. 1200pp - Rogue/Vigilante Teleporters
Allows adding beacons to villain groups with destinations in Paragon city, and to hero groups with destinations in the rogue isles.
*note: requires adding the ability to get supergroup badges for opposing side.

40-120pp - individual items from the proposed entertainment pack (video games, bars, pool tables, etc)

400pp - NPC civilian model access (max 2/base)

    120pp - additional NPCs allowed

I know, brought up before, obstacles, blah blah blah. Still want 'em and that's what I'd pay.

Is that possible or not? I know you can't trade an enchancement that has been combined, such as a HO.
They claim to be "account locked" such that you can't drop them into a base or trade or the market but can pass between characters. Without those tools, I don't see how it is possible to pass them, so until I have personal experience, I am considering them "character locked".

    Why LotG?

I do both. I have at any one time, two characters who are stockpiling empyreans and/or alingment merits for a big purchase, and all other characters spend as they come in.

    It's slow, but reliable.

With Dull Pain you'll probably hit the HP cap off of one application so if it did stack, that wouldn't give any benefit.

  15. Forgive the mild necromancy.

Just pointing out that I have finally finished putting together the pieces for the Iggy "affordable" version of Werner's build (was being a cheapskate on some of the HOs so it took a while to get 'em all hehe). Very fun. Has serious endurance issues in long fights. I wasn't ever able to take out a pylon without using blues or lore.

But spectacular fun. Even managed to survive Antimatter's undivided attention for a minute and 6 seconds in a keyes run. Which impressed the hell out of me (and quite possibly involved a lot of luck, not sure). Could probably have kept surviving but that's when the tank came back and taunted him off me.

Elegost, have you built yours? How does it fare?

Also, on Werner's really expensive version, how would level 52 (or 50++ since there's no difference) HOs impact that build?

Even the large insps are 50% endurance returned and they sell regularly for 10k to 50k each.

And supers are not particularly expensive unless they spiked again while I wasn't looking. I have lowball bids out on many of them and am slowly filling my base's insp storage with them. I have like 20 or so without investing more than 10 minutes into it over the past 2 weeks.
  17. I'm going to back 37 on this. Not a surprise considering my earlier post in this thread.

But I'll also point out that the first ward arcs are a hell of a lot of fun and very well written. I've only done a little of the new lowbie arcs, but especially villain side they have very good writing, and interesting play challenges for the level. The signature story arcs are also pretty cool and offer rewards for all levels.

Lots of the newer content is coming out mid-level.

For me, the game is still about having fun all the way through.

    Why LotG?

My net (after market tax and crafting cost) average roll on my level 50 character is 121,758,281 per Hero Merit. To match that with a LotG you'd have to sell each one for about 270 million. More if you're spending infl to convert reward merits to alignment merits.
I should start tracking. But I stopped rolling randomly after 9 consecutive rolls all failed to make back the 20 million to convert to hero merits. I could craft and sell at a profit covering crafting fees, salvage and market fees, but that extra 20 million hit was a massive barrier to my random rolls. That's not a particularly large sample. But it was enough to piss me off and make me start selling gamblers and kinetic combat doubles for a while =).

but I'm pretty much over it now. I had been doing pretty good with random rolls for a long time. Random is random hehe.

What was the exact wording of the message? I'm willing to bet that you misread it. But the second possibility is someone did a really bad job of phrasing what the warning is supposed to say.

It's not just the damage. Divine avalanche recharges faster than parry, as do the other attacks, and yet the bonus lasts just as long and is the same size per application. Especially if you only need to use it one time instead of double stack, that really adds up. Again, procs all work better in katana since they check more often. magnifying the difference.

@sailboat. It isn't vastly inferior no. But it is, I think, the lowest performing primary. Way back when "the results are in" the only ones that did less DPS than BS in both the SO only and IOd tests were the AoE-based sets like spines. And on SOs it was noticably behind Katana.

Now with mace and axe available, both do the same or better damage (WM better because smashing > lethal) and both have more mitigation. I really think it may be the bottom performing primary. Are there any that do less damage ST without doing more AoE?

the issue I have seen is simply that damage vs speed, they balanced a tad too much on speed. Since it is way easier to build for 140% bonus recharge than 140% damage (meaningless numbers used just because they are large enough to make it hard to achieve damage wise but possible for recharge), this initially small difference gets magnified.

And it seems, though I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, that Nihili, Werner, Iggy, et al go for Kat every time over BS in top end builds. Except when /shield comes into play. But I have to wonder, would any min maxer take BS over kat if /shield allowed kat to work?

Doesn't the going rogue box also unlock two character slots? This would be rather valuable to a free player I'd think.

I thought I saw something about the market version not giving the slots but they are still a part of the box codes.

As to your original question, I typically hit Kings row around level 5. But I admit I haven't played through all of the new Atlas park stuff yet. Looking forward to the chance soon.
