You can move one slot from Battle Agility to Super Jump, three-slotting Blessing of the Zephyr, and you'd be capped in all three positions. See tweaks below.

Also, I have some builds in a thread I started earlier about electric/shield and fire/shield builds. The moderate and expensive builds would probably interest you. Every build in that thread works post BotZ nerf.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=216944 -
45.5% melee / 44.9% ranged / 45.8% AoE
Not quite 45% ranged largely because I kept to level 45 enhancements like you did in your build. Had to sacrifice 5% recharge and about 20% regen. You could probably slot Ragnorak in Fireball and just 5 slot it (your recharge will be better) and the move the slot to either combat jumping, so you're above 45% in everything comfortably or in health if you want your regen back up.
Anyways, you have a few options:

Quote:So you feel you can toss around terms like 'fegette' and that's acceptable? Everyone already knows that you're calling me an unpleasant prejorative and getting around the profanity filter by mispelling a rather nasty term. The fact that you repeated yourself makes you look even more ignorant. Please continue to dig yourself into a bigger hole and I'll just wait until you're banned.Haha flech'n **** kid.
I'm no homophobe but if saying "feggette" makes me one! Then woohoo! Oh and I'm a thief?
Definition of theif: Posted build on CoH forums to ask feedback. Damn I'm like top thief then!
As I said before, no one cares if you use Iggy's builds or someone else's. Iggy wouldn't have posted it if he cared if someone used it. However, you don't even mention in your OP that you found it as opposed to making it yourself. Instead by asking us to modify it and to give feedback on it, you implicitly lead us to believe that the build is less than optimal, i.e., an original creation or build you modified to your own tastes. That's where you crossed the line into thievery. -
Grats on your 5th.
@Fury Flechette -
Word of advice. Adding "lol" after sentences groups you in with the Beavis and Butthead crowd. Please stop.
Also, when I looked at your build I was very impressed with it. It seemed that you knew a lot about building strong characters because how finely tuned the build was. However, it looked sorta familiar.
Does this ring any bells? http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...00&postcount=5
If you're going to try to pass off someone else's build as your own at least change the name of the build. Keeping the name "Iggy's Will" is sort of a dead giveaway.
This isn't to say that you shouldn't use builds that other people make. I've posted dozens of builds and I am flattered when people use them. But it does irk me just a bit when I see people say they came up with it all on their own. If you would've stated before hand to the effect that you found Iggy's build and wanted to change things up a bit, I think I would be much more sympathetic. But you didn't do that.
Also, do you realize that this is a variant of build Iggy used to solo the Master of ITF? I'm boggled as to why you'd even want to mess with it to begin with? -
Quote:I'm fairly sure you got the system right. I have my rep turned off, largely because when I had it turned on, it made me gun shy in saying what I wanted to say.Actually, I've gotten the slam-dunk inexplicable one a couple of times (that I know of).
The amount of reputation points you can deliver in positive or negative rep is partially based on the amount of rep you have, I believe. Furthermore, although I'm not actually sure myself, I think if you turn off your own rep your reputation flags carry no score. So when you are flagged for rep, the flag is red if its a negative rep, green if it is a positive rep, and grey if the person flagging you has their own rep turned off.
Sometimes people leave very elaborate messages. Sometimes they just leave short ones. "Nice!" or "you suck" or one probably unique to me "not a dev." Sometimes they don't leave any comment and I just get a positive or negative rep with no message, just N/A.
The truly Zen rep that I've gotten two or three times is when they leave no message, and they have rep turned off. So what I get is a reputation flag with N/A and no value. Its not positive or negative, and it has no message.
I always wonder if the person intended to flag me positive or negative and they just didn't know their reputation flags have no value, or if they knew that and flagged me anyway as either positive or negative with no message *knowing* that I would have no way of knowing if it was a positive or negative flag. That's deep.
I have noticed however that when I've been positively repped by a someone else with a large reputation score, my rep went up substantially. I never was able to account for the gray flags as those belonging to people who had rep turned off until now. That makes sense.
I actually don't like the rep system because of how much it can be gamed, but it's not passionate dislike and I don't mind if other people care about it.
What I would have loved to have seen is a karma system much like what you see in aggregator sites like Reddit, where the posts/replies with the largest amount of positive karma goes up to the top. In a situation like that things like reputation (karma) might have more relevance. -
Quote:It's a good power but shield builds tend to be tight with both slots and power picks. Grant cover and One with the Shield tend to be the ones I drop in a lot of builds because while both are nice to have, neither are absolutely required. All of the other shield powers either provide vital protection or considerably increase your offense (AAO, shield charge). Is there a reason why I don't see many people with Grant Cover?
I do team with my SD scrapper and Brute. However, I don't see this power taken often. Any other insights other than it "doesn't help me"?
It does give some resistance to def debuff and recharge debuff to the user and team. -
Quote:It's not inept. There are just better choices. For a character that resembles a knight or armored warrior with a shield, broadsword is the only choice since katana can't be paired with shield. However, I don't want to make a character that is now inept.
If you don't mind me saying this, it's silly to let other people's opinions dictate what you roll. I roll all sorts of non-optimized combinations because they a) fit a concept b) I want a choice that's off the beaten path c) I want to try power sets I haven't tried before.
Also, broadsword has been around for a while. The people who have made broadsword characters, and are still playing, probably rolled theirs years ago. -
Yellow text means you're approaching ED limits (95%), red means that you've exceeded them and are subject to diminishing returns (i.e., if you totaled up the amount of recharge you actually have, you would actually have more than 98.72% but diminishing returns after 95% lowers it).

Quote:Definition of frankenslotting:Been playing off / on since the games release, with some long stretches without playing. I am still a noob when it comes to IO's, so this term "frankenslotting" is something of a mystery to me still.
Is it when you use different Set IO's in a power to somehow get better results within that specific power than you would by using normal IO's? If so would anyone out there have some recommendations on how to frankenslot my EM/EA brute?
I still have a lot of fun playing my EM/EA if only because nothing is easy, but looking at its enhancements makes me wonder how much better it could be. At the moment, I am slowly changing all my lvl49/50 SO's into 40/45 IO's. Going for any Set's seems out of my price-range. Any suggestions on which IO's to get for "frankenslotting" would be very helpful.

Still the best guide for frankenslotting. Even though it's written during issue 9, it's still relevant and largely accurate:

In the aforementioned guide, take a look at Capn Canadian's sections on slotting melee damage, defense and damage resistance.
Edit: Panzer beat me on the definition.
Edit2: See my sig. There's absolutely no reason why you have to be poor. -
Quote:I don't think the Force Feedback +recharge proc works in Shield charge because it's a pseudo pet. I'm not sure how it is working outside of AE at all. I know it works in other AoE / kb powers like Thunderstrike and Footstomp. I've never seen it work in SC.I have this proc slotted in Shield Charge, and outside of AE it works quite often due to having the chance to proc for each target of the charge. However, in an AE mission this will NEVER proc. Ever. It doesn't show up in the combat log, it doesn't show up in the monitored recharge rate, nothing. Outside AE it shows up no problem. Is this meant to be the way it works? At least one of my Performance Shifter Chance for +End works in AE because it shows up in the combat log(though I don't know whether the one in Health or the one in Physical Perfection is proccing), so it seems odd the FF proc doesn't work.
I'd love to be proved wrong. -

These are good ideas, but alas ones that have been suggested before and shot down. The idea of having TD having a damage boost was thought to be too strong. Strangely, while the idea was deemed too good for players, it was incorporated into NPCs. Everytime the PPD Ghosts hit my villains with a ranged stealth strike I get a bit sad.
Also, you'll note that the PPD has acid mortar and the equivalent of glue arrow in their arsenal. Imagine if you had those instead of time bomb and smoke grenade respectively.
I've also pitched allowing gun drone to be able to take taunt enhancements and also have a low magnitude taunt associated with it. I don't think this would be unbalancing at all considering the fact that the power does not do significant amounts of damage nor is it on a quick recharge. -
Agreed. You have to be careful with some sets like that. I put Touch of Death in quick recharging powers so the relatively low recharge of the set won't be an issue. I also pick up other set bonuses for accuracy to offset it's low combined accuracy. If you know what you're doing though, you can easily incorporate a set like this into a cohesive character build...the caveat being that you understand what you're doing first.
-
I've deleted hundreds of characters, including a 50 (but several in the 40s). If they aren't fun or they're unsatisfactory at some level, I don't see any point in keeping them. Rolling alts and leveling is pretty easy.
I don't have more than 20 characters, a number of them just place holders. My active stable of characters I actually play is maybe 12. But I've played every AT with the exception of Kheldians and MMs to the 40s, most to 50.
Spines/Regen used to be a great character combination, used to be more in vogue when PvP rules were different. It can be made stronger but will honestly fall behind the power level of many other scrapper types including other spines characters. I say this as an owner of a level 50 spines/regen character which is moderately IO'ed (rare IO sets and HOs, no purples). -
Quote:It's new to you but that same discussion has been repeated in countless other threads. Do a search on fire/kin and you'll find dozens of threads asking "hey do I need flashfire or cinders in my farming fire/kin?" You've never bothered searching or looking so you're talking out of ignorance. There are a huge amount of variations and variables to the Fire/Kin build > Did you read our discussion about Cinders and Flashfire? There was ABSOLUTELY nothing about being unique in this thread, and all I wanted was some advice on how to improve my OWN build.
Quote:I think you really need to grow up a bit and stop being such an absolute ***. You'll never get through life being a moron and a moaner tbh. Be positive... -
Quote:As you know there aren't really that many variations. People just can't be bothered to search or even look down the same page. They, like the OP, think that their build is unique even though the same issues/questions come up over and over again ad nauseum.Really not meaning to nitpick or complain, but how many possible variations on Fire/Kin builds are there? It seems like a new topic on this gets started every few days and like a lot of trouble would be saved if we just started linking to those posts.
The same sort of thing has been happening in the scrapper forum (though not to this degree) about shield scrappers, so I put together a consolidated thread about dealing with those issues. I'd do the same here, but I don't think it would do any good. I think the scrapper forums are somewhat better "policed" than here and they also seem to attract more of a veteran crowd.
You have a lot of newbies asking about multi-billion fire/kin farming builds who don't have any understanding about the power sets or even simple game mechanics. I don't know if all the writing in the world can resolve this sort of issue. -
It's around 5-6% enhanced. That's not trivial since tohit debuff corresponds roughly to defense. If you're at 38 to 39% defense (either melee or smash/lethal), that tohit debuff is noticeable. I throw in two Dark Watchers IOs in there for the nice hp boost. However, I agree with you that you slot for heal first and the debuff only if you have slots.
-
This is a guide that will instruct you on how to make as much influence/infamy as you want without resorting to any sort of farming. The steps do require a little bit of patience and some startup capital, however there is no "magic" scheme or anything complicated you need to do.
This method is ideal for players who don't have a lot of playing time and want to make inf while they are offline or doing something else in game.
Step 1: Check Prices
In the illustrated examples below, I look at the prices for two IOs, Crushing Impact Acc/Dmg/Rech and Triage Heal/End. I notice that the crafted IOs are sellling for significantly more than the recipes. The prices of the recipes are on the left, the crafted IOs on the right. Prices are circled in red.
Any recipe / crafted IO combination can be used. Just look at any IO that has a large disparity in price between for what the recipe sells and the crafted IO selling price.
Step 2: Acquire Recipes
Buy the recipe for slightly higher than the lowest price in the last 5 listed. In the illustrated example below, I bid on two Crushing Impact recipes for 500,001 inf each and two Triage recipes for 57,000 inf each. Be prepared to wait 2-3 days for these to fill. While, you're waiting, go play another alt or do something else. In the pictures you above, you will have noticed that the price for these recipes fluctuated quite a bit.
After you get the recipes, make bids on the salvage you need. You can pay the going market rate for most salvage you need or just run a couple of AE missions and buy them with tickets if they're too expensive. Generally, I just put in lowball bids at the market and just wait.
Step 3: Gather your ingredients, craft the IOs, then list them
Hopefully, this step is pretty self explanatory. The only tricky part is how much to list the finished IOs for. I recommend that you list for around 66% - 75% of the going market rate. This will ensure that your IO will sell relatively quickly and you can be assured of a decent profit even if you get *only* your listed price. Often times, you'll get more than what you're asking for.
In the illustrated example below, I've listed my crafted IOs for 3.75M and 1M respectively. The sharp-eyed among you will note that the Triage IO is listed at market price, not at 75% of the price. I listed that IO slightly higher because I have experience in selling that IO and know it can sell out quickly even at that price. The 3.75M price I listed the Crushing Impacts for is exactly 75% of the going market rate of 4M.
Step 4: Collect Profits!
WARNING: Some math below!
In this simple exercise, I sold 10M worth of IOs. My actual profit margin is lower since, I spent:
500,001 x 2 (cost of Crushing Impact recipes)
57,000 x 2 (cost of Triage recipes)
22,000 (total cost of Crushing Impact salvage bought at market)
8,000 (total cost of Triage salvage bought at market)
Subtotal: 1,144,002
490,400 x 2 (cost of crafting Crushing Impact recipes into IOs)
87,400 x 2 (cost of crating Triage recipes into IOs)
Subtotal: 1,155,600
400,000 (total cost of marketing fees for two Crushing Impacts)
100,000 (total cost of marketing fees for two Triage)
Subtotal: 500,000
Profit Calculation
10,000,000
-1,144,002
-1,155,600
-500,000
Total Profit: 7,200,398
Many people make the mistake of not factoring in crafting costs and market transactions fees. Crafting costs for a level 50 IO is around 490k inf and scale down as you go down in level. The transaction fees for any item you sell will equal roughly 5% of the total price for which it sells.
Last Words
Now 7.2M in profit doesn't sound like a lot but note that to acquire this wealth, I spent approximately 20 minutes in checking out recipe / IO prices, making bids, crafting the IOs when all the bids filled, listing the IOs for sale and then collecting profits. The 20 minutes even includes travel times between the market and the university where I crafted the IOs. In real time, it took me about 4 days for all the bids to fill and for everything to sell. In that time, I either played a different alt or didn't log in game.
The reason why this method works is because it's repeatable, it works with any number of IOs (just look for anything with a price disparity) and it can scale. I only used 4 IOs (and by far, *not* the most profitable examples) and was able to accumulate 7.2M with about 20 minutes of gaming time spent. Serious marketers can do far, far better using this method, especially if they uncover a niche, a high demand IO where the disparity in price between the recipe and crafted IO is very large. It is very possible to make tens of millions off of one crafted IO using this method.
One other thing I will mention is that IOs that improve damage or defensive powers (melee or ranged damage, heal, defense, resistance) have a faster turnaround than those that enhance status effects and debuffs (holds, stuns, confuse, defense debuff, tohit debuff). If you want faster turnarounds on the IOs you craft and list, learn to notice how fast certain IOs sell. Those IOs which sell daily are a better bet than those that only sell once per month.
I'd also like to mention that the character in which I performed these transactions is a level 18 Katana/Regen Scrapper I have over on Justice server. With this little bit of marketing, I acquired enough to fund her SOs for the near future. However, at the time of this writing, she has banked well over 600M using this simple method. -

Purely a curiosity question as I don't use rep as a basis of whether or not a post or a poster has merit.
I have 2307 total. -
StormDevil,
I think the build is fine. Mid's shows 47.8% DDR. You can see it by clicking the View Totals button and then seeing the totals for Status.
As to the particulars of the build, I think you'll find the scorch makes a good filler attack and using that with cremate and incinerate will make you chain gap free. It's why a lot of people skip fire sword. It's pretty easy to make the bonus up elsewhere...simply replace one of the attacks where you have Crushing Impact with Touch of Deaths and then move a slot to combat jumping and add some Defense.
You also can get by without manuevers IMO. The 3% defense it provides can easily be made up in a variety of ways (6 slotting Performance Shifter for AoE, slotting up combat jumping a bit, taking laser beam eyes and 4 slotting it with Thunderstrikes, etc.) But these are nitpicks, the build looks fine and very playable. -
Heh, I'm seeing the prices of these things go steadily down. I think the PvP IO farming "industry" in this game has made this process boiler plate.
