Quote:One? You have 132 slots across all of the servers - you can make Dozens, if you want! Not too much into pvp so it will likely be stricly pve... actually I have yet to engage in pvp ever in this game lol.
Thanks all for the replies... maybe I'll just make one of each

Storm/Energy Defender, then get Power Build Up and you can launch them into 'spess'.

Flashrains, Elliot never talks about Rumpus's Claws, just his Jaws... So why not Dark/Dark, Dark/SR, or Dark/Willpower? You could recolor the Dark effects, but the point I'd make is Dark/** has 'Touch of Fear' and **/Dark has 'Cloak of Fear'. So you could take them both, for extra Fear.
Adding some encounter with Firefrorefiddle in the flesh, and not just 'Gus' at the Theater might explain these fearsome powers.
Of course, Rumpus was always a fierce fighter... Perhaps he went out to Fight with Firefrorefiddle, and ended up eating/absorbing some of the fiend's power?

Not a single one of my Tankers is going to the red side.
Actually, not a single one of my Heroes is going to the red side.
Probably half or more of my 'Villains' are moving to the blue side.
I'll probably create a few new toons in Praetoria... Not sure what they'll do.

Quote:And, while Willpower with Tough and Weave is formidable, this is also a playstyle and Secondary dependent choice. If you have an especially active playstyle, or a Secondary that is particularly draining on the Endurance, then even Willpower's Quick Recovery will not supply enough Endurance. To me, the big selling point for Willpower is that it has a 'Health' power and a 'Stamina' power built in (and better than Health and Stamina). This let me skip the Fitness pool and have Tough and Weave by level 26.
As always, it's a balancing act. However, I do agree with folks, a mature tanker (about level 22) is able to jump into the middle of a crowd of minions and laugh, while beating down the tougher enemies. Unless one of those enemies starts flinging around his personal Kryptonite - and Every Tanker has weaknesses, relatively speaking. They may have tactics and strategies for dealing with it (such that it's only a mild inconvenience), but a Tanker can never stop thinking about the shape of the battlefield and the nature of the enemy. It's his job to use his skills and abilities to help shape the battle, for his own benefit and that of his teammates.
I think, for sheer ease of use, you may find Willpower/Dark suitable, but, of course, there are So Many great choices! Invulnerability/Super Strength is Iconic and fun too. You may, like me, say 'I gotta try them all!' Enjoy your new Tanker(s)!

CoH does not work quite like CO. Could you be more specific about the 'job' you want to do and the powers your want to do it with? Either that, or just cast all of your expectations to the wind, pick an Archetype and powerset at random, and go bash thugs. You'll figure out what you want to do soon enough.

Peg, just a quick extra thought, from my experience with a DB/Inv Scrapper and Fire/DB & Inv/DB Tankers - You might want to mention that using click powers from your defensive Pool may cause Redraw, but they do Not interrupt your Combo-chain. So you can feel free to click a healing power at any point in mid-fight and only suffer a small hiccup in DPS. However, clicking Dual Blades attacks out of order will disable your current Combo! So go ahead and use Blinding Feint or whatever, anytime, but once you start building one of the Combos, be aware that you can't complete it if you Miss, or if you don't chain the right attacks in the right order.
Oh, and DB/Invulnerability is a lot of fun! Mine is only L18, but I'm having a blast.

I like how you've demonstrated synergies with these several secondaries and my various DB Scrappers thank you!
What about Tankers, though? There is a SERIOUS need for just such a guide, but focused on DB for Tankers, on the Tanker forums. Tankers Cannot skip Nimble Slash and probably Ought to take Taunt, plus they get the powers with very different timing - How does your DB experience relate? Can you help?
Be Well!

Quote:Okay, so Instead of Provoke + Invoke Panic, take Taunt & Power Slice and use Sweep as your mitigation, instead of Panic. Unless you're into the Fear for concept reasons? This is a rough, although unslotted, approximation of my Inv/DB who currently sits at 39.
No Power Slice. And Nimble Slash is never touched, so no slots for you. Certainly not a perfect build by any stretch, with no real focus, but it's working quite well so far.
I use two different trays for attacks. Solo is the BF->AV chain, with the big cone attacks afterward when appropriate. Teamed I go BF->AoE till they all die. I originally used more combos, but have lost some interest in them. Sweep would be a nice addition for mitigation, but I can't justify wasting a slot on Power Slice since I'm already wasting a pick on Nimble Slash.
At the higher levels I find I'm better off mostly focusing on the AoE of the set, and using the BF->AV chain for harder targets. I suppose you could go for a more ST focus, or even a split focus kind of like my solo chain, but after you pick up the final attacks it's not really worth it. The set just does AoE so well that fighting anything less than massive spawns feels wasted.
I haven't been playing my DB tanker much, although when I have in the past I've been recording my thoughts on the combo as a whole, and on the levelling experience with it. I had considered a guide, but I'm kinda lazy.
Be Well!

That's lovely... And the Numina's +Recovery +Regen will do you more good, paired with a Numina's +Heal, in Fast Healing, rather than RttC.
I'd drop Combat Jumping down to L10 and take Quick Recovery ASAP, at L12. Swift can be put in the L16 slot without ruffling the build in the slightest - except you'll have QR 4 levels sooner!
There are plenty of small adjustments and personal tweaks I'd make, if this were my own build, but they aren't critical. Frankly, for a 'First Tank Build' I wouldn't even Begin to concern myself with IOs, I'd work towards an optimized SO build, first. IOs only start to really matter after level 32, or so - in my experience.

I agree, the last build you posted is better. However, I do have a few issues with it.
You don't have enough single-target attacks to make a decent attack chain, so you're going to be spending a bit of time standing around, waiting for the next attack... Except for the ones you've picked up from your APP, which partly make up for it, but you're SOL if you ever exemplar.
You have Hasten, but nothing in your Primary or Secondary benefits much from Haste - except your slightly gimped attack-chain.
Lastly, despite the sacrifices you've made to IO Set Defense Bonuses, you still don't have 'any' Defense.
So, I took your build, re-prioritized slightly, and came up with two builds.
The first one is built to emphasize Defense - It's still nowhere near Capped, but it isn't bad.

Hmm, yes, other ATs get Dual Blades and mostly the advice is 'Skip Nimble Slash, avoid the first two Combos, and focus on the Endgame.' This is only possible for them because they have Dual Blades as a Primary, so they don't have to wait as long for the so-called 'good stuff'. A Tanker has to wait half of his career before the aforesaid 'good stuff' starts becoming available and cannot skip Nimble Slash.
My own (somewhat limited) experience is that a Dual Blades Tanker needs to bite the bullet and go ahead and take Everything from his Secondary. I have L30 WP/DB and L28 Fire/DB Tankers and a L14 Inv/DB. What I've been hoping for is a discussion of slotting and priorities between the Tanker's Primary and Dual Blades - ie Growing the Tanker.

I mean, I already know a lot of what it will probably say, I've been experiencing Dual Blades myself, but I note that there is no listing in the guides section and I feel like there could be something I'm missing.

As for the Builds, the easiest way to read them is to use Mids' Hero Planner, which you can download from: http://www.cohplanner.com/ Mids' is pretty much the defacto default Hero and Villain Planner available.

Quote:Alternately, you could use one of the Prestige Sprints for movement enhancement and slot the Celerity +Stealth into Sprint. That gives you Toggleable Stealth. Super Speed and Sprint stack fine and get you close to the run-cap, while also stacking the stealth. If you wanted to save a power slot, and could afford it with either influence or merits, putting a Celerity: Stealth enhancement into Super Speed could easily replace the Stealth power.
Oh, and I have a Kin/Psy too.

You did, and the OP got shot down, there, too.

Any chance of having Tanker's Willpower taunt aura Rise to the Challenge normalized while we're at it? I mean, I know, all powersets are not meant to be created equal, but it's so annoying to be a Tanker and have aggroed enemies peeled off so easily. It's Embarrassing!

So, the next round of Boosters could be:
Magic: Supernatural
Technology: Gadgets
Natural: Elemental
Science: ???
Mutation: ???

Yeah, because Dude, you need to stop listening to Trolls and fools.
I have never run into these 'LOLTankers' people, but I've read a number of anecdotes featuring them. And Inv/EM?? EM is currently considered sub-optimal as a set.
The real answer is that Every Tanker can tank successfully. Every tanker Primary can protect you and every tanker Secondary can do plenty of damage to the enemy. Now, it's true, if you set your expectations high enough, not even a Granite tanker will succeed...
So, here's my advice to you: Play your characters the way you want and when some troll opens his fool mouth and spews foolishness, just smile, tag them with one star and find somebody else to play with. Oh, but don't just dismiss Every cautionary word - there are people out there who may have Constructive things to say.

Yes, but rather than shoehorning Energy Punch into the build, if you just gave Boxing the full credit, you could have nearly the same damage output and save yourself a power-pick. Energy Punch's main benefit is the energy damage, true, but otherwise they are functionally equivalent, right down to the Stun.
And since the character is a Flier, Air Superiority is a superb choice.
