So I'm dusting off teh old Kinetics/Psychic Defender. He hasn't been played since oooohh issue 6 or 7? :/

As a matter of fact when I loaded him and looked at his attacks, they have 6 damages in each. Ah, the good old Noob days. Much simpler times then.

Anyways, does anyone have any advice on how I should slot or spec him? Its been so long I will have to relearn to play him anyways. I'm basically looking for a Mids build as the Defender guides in regards to Kinetic seem to be a bombed out and depleted wasteland.

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

Edit: I'm probably a 75/25 teaming to soloing type player. Am looking for a good PvE build. Any advice on how to make this character more soloable will be really useful as I did it very infrequently back in the day.

FYI, your Kin/Psy isn't the only one; I've got one too.

So...here is something I just came up with in Mids, that I think I can afford. I'm looking for some Ranged D and (I guess) making the slow attacks decent.

Along with having stealth/tp ability.

Any thoughts?

If you want to increase your soloability, switch from electric mastery to power mastery. Mass Hypnosis to lead off, which lets you get most of your kinetics goodies off early (including and especially Fulcrum Shift).

I'd also want Fulcrum Shift up more often than you've got it. It's just preference of course, but I'd go 1-2 accuracy (since you've got gobs of global accuracy) and three recharges. Even with Hasten and Siphon Speed, you'll appreciate being able to get it off more often when soloing since subsequent castings stack, and you will probably have fewer mobs per spawn when solo.

If you wanted to save a power slot, and could afford it with either influence or merits, putting a Celerity: Stealth enhancement into Super Speed could easily replace the Stealth power.

No Psionic Tornado or Psychic Scream? I realize that some people don't care for the damage over time nature of Psi Tornado, but at the very least grab Psychic Scream. It's a very solid power, in terms of both damage and secondary effect (62.5% recharge debuff in a cone effect).

I'll let others comment on set bonuses, frankenslotting, and IOs in general, as it's not really my area of knowledge.

Thanks for the feedback! What do you suggest I replace with Psychic Tornado? The Stealth or one of the single target attacks?

I'm on the fence about the Super speed/stealth/recall bit. I've never had it on a character before and am curious about trying it. I would really like to fit in Flight somehow.

I was looking at Power Mastery also. Wasn't sure about the Epic pools but I will give it a shot.

Edit-Not Power Mastery, Psychic Mastery.

If you're only going to get one or the other, I'd take Psychic Scream over Psionic Tornado. Having both is nice, and depending on what you find useful from your epic you may even get them both at some point (not sure what level your character currently is). I'd personally replace Subdue, though that requires some juggling. Will Domination and TK Blast are too nice as single target attacks; though if knockback bothers you then TK Blast could go away.

Very easily done. Swap out Stealth for Hover and put in the Freebird: +Stealth (again, if you can afford it). The IO stealth powers will stack with Super Speed's stealth effect, granting you full invisibility to anything other than drones, snipers, etc. which have increased perception. The stealth effect from unique IOs lasts while the power it's slotted in is toggled on, and then for 2 minutes afterwards.

OK this is closer to what I'm going to get at. The set IO's can get worked out later.

Alternately, you could use one of the Prestige Sprints for movement enhancement and slot the Celerity +Stealth into Sprint. That gives you Toggleable Stealth. Super Speed and Sprint stack fine and get you close to the run-cap, while also stacking the stealth.

Oh, and I have a Kin/Psy too.

Be Well!

Erm, so, um, yeah ... I really meant to type psychic mastery, not power mastery. But you figured it out.

I have a Kin/Psy also I recently moved him off my main server because I retired him in favor of my Kin/Elec.

I can't recall the exact build I used but I can tell you I picked the Psy EPP and it comes in very handy while soloing. Fulcrum Shift surprisingly does not wake up sleeping badguys. Using Mass Hypnosis to put groups asleep then walking over to them and hitting FS proved to be a valuable tactic.

I also used a combination of 6 slotted Thunder strikes, CJ and Stealth in order to bump my positional defense as close to 45 as possible.

Okay I was able to find the build I used for Neutralize. It's pretty much the same thing in game. The Melee defense is very low but I try to hover out of melee and rely on Repel when I can't (Caves etc).

As usual, I would suggest a solo and team build both for the Kin/psy. On a team build, I would take both psy scream and psy tornado. With fulcrum shift, you would rip groups to pieces.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

I would suggest that you put the Celerity stealth proc in superspeed. Essentially auto invisibility. On one toon, I NEVER turn off the superspeed, so I also have the end reduction slotted. Considering that you are kin, and will often have speed boost, you SURELY do not need the run speed.

Then, in place of the stealth power pool, put in one of your missing AoEs. Psy scream is a solid power, but I find that I enjoy the mitigation of Psi Tornado's KU as well.

I've got one too. I don't play him... I really should play him more... but my very first hero was a Gravity/Kin... my 2nd villian was a Rad/Kin... he was my 3rd kin, my attempt at having one of each class.. and I succedded... 3 lvl 50 kins... but you really only need 2... one for each side... LOL. And frankly... I favor my controler more, because he was my FIRST ever CoH creation.

But i have one..... >.<
